here we go again

There’s too much Vader in him… (x)
gonna throw these fucking hands🤛🏼
if dean says anything along the lines of ‘you can’t leave me’ i’ll commit a crime
anyways the show opens with percy slamming down on his alarm clock..perfect day by hoku is playing...he runs into the dorm bathroom..theres a scene with him brushing his teeth but it's just the back of his head and u cant see his reflection in the mirror...a shadow passes by the window that's in his room where you can see messy clothes across a messy bed... again the camera is low as percy struggles to put his clothes on (the whole jumping in ur pants thing I did this when I was 12 all the time) the song abruptly ends with a knock at the door and as percy looks to the door u see his eyes for the first time
theres no explanation ur on the loud ass bus with a bunch of kids and Percy's I didnt want to be a halfblood voice over begins
with all the discourse going on, I just wanted to thank john williams for composing one of the most iconic and amazing movie themes of all time and for bringing star wars to life for the last 40 years. star wars would be nothing without you, thank you legend.
So I’ve been writing a new fic and I know this isn’t a ~new~ concept, but I’ve been thinking a lot about how the characterization in hoo would have shifted if Percy/Annabeth were a lot older than the rest of the seven. (Or just the og pjo characters for that matter)
I’m talking maybe 25/26 while the rest of the seven are still the same age.
First and foremost, I would have loved to see how Percy and Annabeth would have been a decade older.
When the pretty blonde lady comes flying off the chariot and demands where he is and Butch explains that she’s been looking for her husband, Percy Jackson.
(I mean imagine how that would have affected us as readers. Percy and Annabeth weren’t supposed to even be in this series now here they are but older and MARRIED?? that would have fuckin shook me)
Also, this means they’re past the college age, sooooo what have they been doing with their lives??
I imagine they went to school somewhere in New York, not necessarily the same colleges but close to both camp and mount Olympus.
And Annabeth’s been designing for Olympus a near decade.
Percy, of course did get a degree (haven’t decided what yet) but the two of them have basically been the co-leaders of CHB alongside Chiron.
Also, I’m a huge proponent of Annabeth building a “New Rome” equivalent in Camp Half-blood so when Jason, Piper, and Leo arrive to Camp Half-Blood there are houses and we see Travis and Connor and Clarisse as older and alive and doing well.
Piper sees Percy’s and Annabeth’s house and she can tell its a house well lived and loved in. There are dozens of pictures of Percy and Annabeth, a tray of blue cookies left on the counter, blanket and books along the couch, and yet looking at Annabeth, tears in her eyes, it somehow feels cold and empty.
Annabeth, who woke up, with Percy gone from their bed.
The photo in the big house of Percy and Annabeth is one of their wedding.
Now PERCY
Who wakes up with no memories except of the beautiful blonde girl.
Nothing to his name except a pen in his pocket and a ring on his finger and he knows that she must be the one he’s married to.
Now, the second part, is the characterization. Cause the age gape would significantly shift things.
So one things that often get complained about with Percy’s Character arc in hoo is that its the same one from pjo - Zero to hero…. which doesn’t make sense considering how we left pjo.
Percy is the hero. He shouldn’t be treated like the underdog anymore
The arc, I believe, should be more along the lines of Percy not wanting to have to live up to this “hero” legacy.
Feeling like the worlds just waiting for him to fail.
Or maybe he feels like he has too much power.
Also, he’s more hardened. He’s been doing this for thirteen years now.
And he’s powerful. Within canon, Percy’s powers have been shown to grow and grow and grow exponentially in a quick rate of time
now imagine a decade more worth of experience on top of this.
cough*blood bending percy*cough
So Percy finds Camp Jupiter, Hera/Juno tells him the river will wash away the curse.
And Percy’s, whose now had the curse longer in his life than he hasn’t had the curse and knows that he is so used to fighting on strictly offense that he would probably die, forgetting he’s no longer invincible.
Also its simply a “superbly dumb idea to lose a curse like that” and is like - uh, no.
And lifts the River over them instead.
And when he comes onto Camp Jupiter’s army.
He’s like where are your adults.
and they’re like “Oh :) When you’re an adult :) you retire :) the children :) are the ones to lead the army :)”
Insert Percy’s “the-fuck-you-mean” expression.
And when its time for the quest to Alaska, Percy’s actually like “No, I’ve gotta find my wife.”
And Hazel is genuinely like “That’s ok! Frank and I can handle this ourselves!”
And he’s watching this thirteen year old and fifteen year old walk off and he just looks up at the sky, sighs deeply, and says “gods dammit” before following them.
But like, I really would want to see Percy and Annabeth take on a mentoring role to the rest of the seven
The “kids”
I may or may not have just seen into the Spiderverse
Like of course we can still have tension between them all. But I feel in a way this would have encouraged more growth between them all.
I’m not sure if I would still include the Percy and Jason competition, or at least it would have to change into something like Jason feeling like he has to live up to this image of Percy. And Percy would of course be like “No, No you don’t.”
I would also love to see Percy and Annabeth having these moments of watching the young members and realizing “this was me.”
They see Piper and Jason awkwardly flirt and blush and they reminisce about “those old days”

dudu-dududu

Idk it seems like an obvious crossover because Jake is basically Percy and peraltiago and percabeth have so much in common so……..
Forever mad that Annabeth, who was supposed to be an important character, never got powers. What's the point of even being a demigod? She might as well not even be in the series or just be a regular human, it's so stupid :/.
Anon, are you kidding me?? Her lack of active powers is one of the best things about her!! THIS CHICK IS DOPE AF ALL ON HER OWN.
Annabeth is one of the most powerful demigods in this entire series, while having no active powers. Sure, all her friends have something extra in their arsenal but none of them have her brain. It was Annabeth versus a centuries old mystery and she won using nothing but the knowledge and wisdom she had spent her whole life collecting.
She didn’t need to summon lightning, fly, control the tides, shapeshift, use an innate sense of the underground, or charmspeak to defeat Athena’s greatest nemesis. She did something that no other child of Athena had been able to do. She did it alone. With no weapons. No special powers. While wounded. And beat a powerful monster, who lived to punish the children of her old tormentor, with nothing more than psychology. Do you not understand how incredible that is???
Annabeth Chase is one of the greatest examples of what a person can do with just their brain power. Of course she has needed help along the way as we all do, but she has won countless games of capture the flag, solved riddles that got people killed with the ease of reciting the alphabet, she found the Mark of Athena, and she literally held up the weight of the world!! All without a single power.
This girl is the essence of Athena and everything she stands for. This is what it means to be a demigod. She embodies her mother’s legacy and carries it with pride, knowing that by virtue of being a daughter of Athena all the knowledge and wisdom the world has to offer is hers for the taking. She knows what it is she is good at, and isn’t afraid of her talents. She’s not afraid to be proud of herself. She’s not afraid to be in charge. All of this, and a lot more, is what makes her Athena’s favorite daughter. Being a demigod isn’t about what cool powers you get from your parents but rather how you carry on their legacy; how you use what you have inherited from your godly parent to further Olympus’s mark on the world. Jason Grace’s legacy will not be lightning and flying, but how he used his big heart and intelligence to bring more peace to the world of the Gods. Percy Jackson’s legacy will not be toilets exploding and waves crashing (though they will no doubt be fun stories passed around) but rather how his smile reminded people of a warm beach day and how he helped people as much as he could the same way the ocean can float a boat safely to harbor. Annabeth’s legacy won’t be how she didn’t have any powers, but how she accomplished so many great things without them.
Power does not just come from special abilities. It can come from hard work and dedication and perseverance and the determination to be the best version of yourself. This is what draws Athena to the people she has kids with! She inherited no special powers from her mother and Percy and Jason on their best, most powerful days could not hold a candle to the things that Annabeth can do with her mind. She is hands down one of the most important female book characters of at least the last decade and an incredible example of what it means to seek and use wisdom.
Annabeth Chase 5ever.

i would like to thank tom holland for coming up with this scene

i don’t remember this episode of the office
ok so i was watching this gif carefully

and when i first saw it i was like “aww Nat jumping into steve’s lap that’s so cute she’s like AHH STEVE SAVE ME” and then i was thinking ‘well she probably realized he’s way stronger than she is and could help shield her if they crashed’
but then i kept watching it and i noticed how she immediately pulls him forward

and first i thought it was the momentum of her jump but you can clearly see in the gif how she gets settled (quickly) THEN pulls him close to her
and then i realized

that is a bullet hole.
Nat somehow knew EXACTLY where Steve was gonna get shot at, jumped up into his seat, and saved him

Natasha Fucking Romanoff
man. Remember the first time you watched Thor: Ragnarok (2017) Dir. Taika Waititi and hela asked thor ‘what were you the god of again?’ and then it went to loki smirking and you KNEW something good was coming. And then immigrant song started to kick in and the LIGHTING started and you felt your SOUL leave your body and go to another plan of existance. Then Thor desending lighting and all onto that pile of aliens in slow motion looking goddamn RENAISSANCE painting? That moment changed me! the DRAMA! The rest of that scene? Valkyrie, Loki, and Hulk fighting together? Thor’s LIGHTING striking those aliens straight outta there like they were fucking ants? ICONIC! The iconic truly JUMPED out of that movie! Taika Waititi took my hand in that movie, told me it was all gonna be ok and then changed my life FOREVER! That was ART! Mr. Waititi thank you for my LIFE
