You think they canonized their main character as gay and revealed he’s always been in love with his childhood best friend, their other main character, just to work in an ‘accepted as gay’ ending for will (and forcing the end of stranger things to have to include mike ‘no-homoing’ him politely??) I think they just wanted their main characters to end up together, so they wrote it. We are not the same
