I'm Leaving

Hello everyone. I'm not thrilled about this post, but it has to be made.

I'm stepping away from the selfshipping community. Even though I've really enjoyed my time here, I've come to the realization that a lot of my anxiety has stemmed from this particular community.

I've been in multiple fandoms, but never have I EVER been a part of one that's so hyper critical of its memebers like the selfshipping community. There are people who preach about 'down with purity culture' , but under the same breath are part of the problem. I cannot tell you how many hours of my days I've spent worrying about how I might be the next person who has a callout post made about me because I said 'the wrong thing' or did 'the wrong thing'.

I see now why people are so hesitant about joining this community. The BIGGEST issue I see is there is no nuance when it comes to certain topics. What's worse, is selfshippers will go after other selfshippers for the most minute of things without providing any evidence, and yet there are people who are boosting it and BELIEVING IT.

I've promised myself that I would never take the internet too seriously, and the selfshipping community has made me do that. I almost wanted to leave internet entirely because of this community. Instead, I'm going to private this account on 8/16/2024.

Thank you to those who were supportive of me and my ships. I did have a blast, but the party is over...
