mark lee radiates boy next door vibes - but he’s that boy next door you’re too intimidated to talk to because he’s so damn handsome. he’s so handsome that you kinda get flustered whenever you make eye contact with him. (especially when you’re both taking out the trash.) maybe you pretend you didn’t see him because you know you look like crap right now or maybe you give him a small shy smile - in any case, you don’t really talk. maybe you would be friends if both of you weren’t so timid - maybe you’d get to see him in his cute round glasses and dark green basketball shorts more often. you’ve always thought it was cute when he scrunched his nose to push up his glasses, a sight you see often when he waits by his front porch for his friend johnny’s old honda every saturday evening. you like watching him hum from your window as he waits, tapping his fingers against the railing. it reminds you of the times he’d brought his guitar out to his back porch to sing and strum quietly until he made eye contact with you across the low fence and hurried back inside with red cheeks. you wanted to tell him he was amazing, but you couldn’t find the courage to. you haven’t seen his guitar since. sometimes you want to say hi as you see each other taking out the trash; sometimes you want to stop him on his way to the grocery store and tell him that his guitar playing is great and that you’d really like to hear it again; and sometimes you want to pop your head out your window and ask him what he does with johnny and his friends every saturday evening (basketball? probably). but you can’t, and maybe you never will. mark lee is the boy next door you see every day but can’t muster up the courage to talk to because he’s so damn handsome.
