I struggle with how black and white thinking seems really pervasive in a lot of society now. I suspect social media hasn’t helped.

But for instance, if I say, “I like your fav most of the time, but this time, they did a thing I did not like. I hope they do better next time because this thing was not so nice,” this is not a personal attack. I am not attacking the person you view as your avatar, your friend, your muse. I am saying they are good but flawed. That’s probably nicer than what I say about myself which is simply, “I am flawed.” (My therapist and I are working on it lol).

It makes important conversations hard to have. “This person did a bad thing but they are overall good” is not a sentiment I see terribly often. But I think it’s true of most people we deem “good.” Intentionally or unintentionally, everyone will do a “bad thing.” Or, at least, a not so great thing.

I see this a lot when it comes to people consuming fictional media. “This character didn’t actually do a bad thing because I see them as good so their bad thing must be justified.” No. That character did a bad thing. You can still like them. But it’s okay to admit they have problems. And it’s not a personal attack on you if someone doesn’t like them. Or, at least, it doesn’t have to be.

Patience is an underrated virtue because at some point, we will all need someone to show that to us

Don’t expect to know who you are or what you want before 30. It’s okay if you do. But like… if you don’t, it’s nbd. Most of us didn’t start getting a handle on it until we were 30.

Just vibe with life. Don’t stress about fitting into some weird box of success

Look man it’s taken me almost 30 years to figure out a fraction of who I am and maybe that’s an indicator of how slowly I learn or maybe that’s just how long it takes for us to rid ourselves of the toxic sludge adults filled our cups with as children but I will fill my own damn cup from here on out
