I Also Drew My Wereleafling Olimar For A Pinup Zine (and Honestly Some Practice For Commissions). I'm

I also drew my wereleafling Olimar for a pinup zine (and honestly some practice for commissions). I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that I've done this, but hey, it was a very fun exercise. If you enjoy it, enjoy. [Also, go look at the other portrait post I made just now. I am even more proud of it].

So, about a month ago, I "lost" my tablet port. I need it to hook up my Wacom tablet to my Macbook (ew, gross— no shade, but the lack of versatility on these things. . .). Keep in mind, I've been using this tablet and port to draw, write notes, take equations, edit photographs, and all the like for over 6 months, hours each day.
I went on a week-long break to my house last month. I kept drawing. I packed everything up and left. I find my port "completely missing". I'm dismayed.
Well. Finals ended. I'm home. I can't find my port anywhere! I get tired of myself and unpack my backpack.
The port was attached to the tablet.
The little port I'd used every day for multiple hours a day for over six months. That I looked for many times.
Right there. I'd held it in my hands FIVE TIMES trying to find it.
I must have been under so much stress that I completely forgot what it looked like, because in my head I was stuck on a model that was completely different. Mine is rectangular and black. The one in my head was silver and round with little red stripes around the slots.
Most embarrassing moment of my life. I have a commission to work on! Ugh?!!?!! What is wrong with me?. . .

Thirty minutes of sketching between assignments.
1: Zoroark, based on a jackal skull.
2: Mandrill from memory.
3: A personal character— Working on different face models.
What a pleasing design! I don't know how you so perfectly pulled off that beard for the little fellow. It may just be my favourite take on it.

I noticed leafling Olimar kinda looks like he has a beard.
Also, the leafling thing isn't as sinister to me as it's often portrayed, I always thought olimar's helmet antenna made him look like a big pikmin.
So to the pikmin, he's just like what the big bulbmin are to the little bulbmin.
So, olimar becoming a big pikmin makes it come full circle.
Dandori doesn't feel like some sinister obsession to me. It feels more like the instinct on which pikmin themselves operate, making them coordinated and mutually supportive. Like bugs? Ants even? :]
Of course the sinister element is the loss of self, but I didn't think it was portrayed as an irreversible amnesia, I like to think the leaflings can eventually peice their individual selves back together while still maintaining this new collective instinct. Bees and ants to have some form of individuality and a "true hivemind" the way it's portrayed in media isn't very accurate.
Then, of course, there's the idea that they can't survive off planet or go home. That's definitely bad.
Also it gives me an excuse to make Olimar look kinda bear-ish. ;D

I'm not providing any extra comment. I simply love this video.
im not really trying to be funny here i genuinely have never wanted context for something more in my life than this video. i mean ive always figured its just one of those weird for the sake of weird kind of things. but regardless the logistics of this whole setup are what intrigue me. what is this body of green water? a koi pond? the lighting reminds me of a hospital room or something. is the room flooded? it doesnt really look that way, but its possible. why are there apples and balls in it? but why is it also in a room? i cant tell if theres light eminating from the water or if its just such an intense shade of green it gives the illusion. is the bed affixed to the wall and suspended over the water or what? how did the bed even get there if its not a flooded bedroom? i only just noticed the water bottle tied to the bar as well. how does he manage to act relatively unbothered by a massive branch hitting him in the neck. and the watermelon just speaks for itself. im not expecting an answer i just need you to know these are the kinds of things i ask myself for 20 minutes each time its brought back to my attention
I came back to watch this on my reblog-blog, what, a month later(?), and collapsed. Enjoy.
this is it. this is the funniest scooby doo clip
