I'll block anyone who says that she has fantasy red skin and so she can't be white washed. Shit's featurism. She looked Black before, and that's so important. There's no other canonically Black fem origin characters in this game. This could have given more representation that was desperately needed for this genre. I understand that a face similar to this is now a default Tav face to choose from, but the thing is, why can't we have both a visibly Black fem face for our Tav AND a Black fem origin character? The default origin characters are all white except for Wyll, and it's good we have Wyll, but what if you're a Black girl or Black woman or Black fem person and you want to see yourself as the main character? It sucks so much to not see yourself in your favorite genre of game. Think about the cosplay opportunities too! I know Black people can still cosplay Karlach (and I want them to!), but there's still something to be said about getting to cosplay a visibly Black character as a Black person. There's not a lot of high budget 3D games out there that make game of the year that feature Black girls or Black women as main characters, and definitely not Black trans women. This was a hugely missed opportunity. It's not lost on me that Karlach is also not in the loading screen art. I am upset.

I was actually kind of surprised to see I'm in 5% of PC players on this. I honestly thought more people had a) finished the game and b) done good aligned play throughs. btw, I'm not against how people choose to play the game or how often they play. I was just shocked, because I never come in the top 5% of anything, like... in my life at all. I only noticed it was glowing today when I spun up the game again for my second play through and I am proud :3

I spent probably way too long working on creating this gif with ffmpeg. I wanted the file to be small enough that you could upload it anywhere, while still capturing the beauty of this moment. I give you....owlbear cub as seen in my durge play-through. I always save owlbear cub even if I'm doing an evil run, because look at this perfect nugget. Just look at him. 😤

Have you reconsidered embracing ceremorphosis?

This was really important for me to read. I'm dyslexic and it takes a long time for me to read things, so I'm only on Lesson 5 right now, but this post has been really enlightening. It's also made me more mad at Baldur's Gate 3 (it's the main game I'm playing right now, and Black characters only get a very select few hairstyles and they don't feel done with care - also the lighting on darker skin tones is bad). It's nice to learn more regardless. If this has taught me anything it's that Larian should hire more Black artists, like, a lot more, and their non-Black artists should be required to take training from a well-paid Black art teacher. I also need to do better personally. Can't grow without discomfort, so I'll be spending more time on trying to draw some more Black characters, and I'll try to explicitly follow more Black artists. (I just started my tumblr last week, so very open to suggestions of Black people who draw fantasy especially!) Edit: It's not uncomfortable to draw Black characters. I meant it was uncomfortable to realize I have more internalized racism in my art than I realized.

WIP of a centaur dryad person? I started this a couple of weeks ago. I censored her on a special tumblr layer, but when she's done, she'll be put on deviantart uncensored, probably, and maybe I'll give her leaves over her boobs when the work is finished and I post her here. I hope it's clear I've never drawn a realistic horse. In fact, I think I've only ever drawn one pony, so like, all the references in the world can't help me. The point is I'm having fun tho :3

A shark puppy I drew a few years ago. He kinda reminds me of street sharks, like if they had a dog. For those not aware here's what street sharks looked like:

Monster enby I drew in 2019. I requested nude models from a trans support group with the explicit understanding that I would not draw anyone's face, and they would be turned into monsters, not because trans people are monsters (I also did a run of just artistic nudes with no faces), but because I was on a monster drawing kick. I posted a few references of other monsters I had drawn and I actually had a lot of people send me their modeling nudes, with some of the most heart wrenching questions like "do you draw fat people?" (the answer is of course!) Everyone I sent back art to loved them and posted them to their own social media. This was one such person whose entire facebook lit up and said things like, "I'd recognize those curves anywhere. You look beautiful" and it was all heart reacts. It was honestly really cute. You can see the uncensored version in my monster album on deviantart.

"No, BAD CIS" I drew this after someone in one of my trans support groups joked about spraying a friend with water every time they got their pronouns wrong. I posted it to the group and someone said they would get a tattoo of it. And ya know what? Good. Let the cis know they're on notice. 😌

This is a drawing I did of laetitiaky on instagram, because they had really pretty eyes. I don't use instagram anymore, but I never got around to posting this anywhere.

Baby toucan I drew because they just looked so darn cute.

I drew these camels a few months ago while dying my hair again. I do my best animal art when I can't do anything else for fear of getting hair dye everywhere. I like baby camels especially because their legs look like pui pui molcar wheels.

I drew her 4ish years ago and never posted her anywhere. I was going through a breakup and listening to music, like you do, and drawing this was just nice to focus on for a couple of days so I didn't cry in public as much.

Bat nugget I drew while coloring my hair. I really love bats, like a lot. (I might come back and color him at some point, maaybe)

So, my last post was hidden even though it was tagged as mature, and I'm still not entirely sure how nudity works on this platform, so instead I'll censor stuff in a goofy way and just note that vivaciousdomo on deviantart has more uncensored stuff 🤷
