Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) On The Similarities Between Detectives And Femme Fatales:

Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) on the similarities between detectives and femme fatales:
The detective and the femme fatale are both doing the exact same thing in a noir story: They’re both confined by their circumstances, and they’re both making their own moral path through a world that is sinister and secretive. … A femme fatale is a showgirl or the displaced daughter of a tycoon or a girl who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and will do anything not to return there, and a detective often has similar circumstances. … [I]t’s what draws them together and also what makes them fight. And once I realized that – that they were really doing the same thing – I saw a way that you could put that in a children’s book. You could have a detective and a mysterious young girl who are birds of feather and who can’t stand one another and who are unapologetic about making their way in a world that seems to have no place for them.

BEAUTIFUL PERSON AWARD! Once you are given this award you're supposed to paste it in the asks of 8 people who deserve it. If you break the chain nothing happens, but it's sweet to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out. 🤭❤️
Tysm!!! You too!
Are all those popular Tumblr shows even real? Are they actually making mainstream big-budget gay TV shows about murder, pirates and cannibalism now or are these tiny, low-budget indie projects you’re making out to be bigger than they are through the power of sheer hype and strategically photoshopped screenshots?
All the Wrong Questions is odd. It's just a child who gets kidnapped by this random lady. He's perfectly fine with this. He goes to this town where they aren't allowed to breathe between the hours of eight and six, or whatever. He's perfectly fine with this. He meets this orphaned coffee addict who's like sixteen, and he just says, she's hot. Then he meets these elementary-age kids running a taxi service because their father is dead or something. He is cool with this as well.
I love those books.
