My marking (🧇) came from my username! This way it makes it easy to associate it with me!

my username on wattpad vs tumblr are different (waffledforbreakfast vs eggosforbreakfast) (which is a mistake on my part), but 🧇 can be used for both!

my username comes from a pun from my real name (the pun being "egg" which turned into "eggo" which now turned into "waffle")

I also really like branding, i want to build up a presence online, so things like having a signature username, colour pallet, formatting, character, etc etc. are all super cool to me :D

mainly for easier linking between my wattpad and tumblr! so u can tell im the same person lol. it's also my discord display name, so that way ppl who know im Waffled know im waffled, and the people that don't know don't question it

i should probably mention that Eggos are a waffle brand- im not sure if that's universal info :')

I suppose the final decision would vary depending on what you want in a relationship, i went off who I think would be the least risky and best long term. So someone who has a base level of similarities. 

Having someone practical and logistical as you are evens out the pressure and responsibilities of a relationship, which allows everyone to relax more and have fun without having to worry too much about the other

The main reason I chose Reo is because you both are more than capable of being proper and responsible, but are twice as capable of having fun without worrying

A lot of the smaller things between you two would work well too!

Point is- (imo) Reo would be the best for you, and you would be the best for Reo

Your personalities work well together because the things you want and expect in a relationship are pretty similar! I think there would be very little misunderstandings between you two, and if there was resolving it would come naturally

Not smt that reo is worried about, if anything, the first time you met he probably saw it as a challenge to make you smile

If you usually come off super intimidating, he’d humor himself and bring you to social events just to watch people’s face contort as they try to figure you out

So does Reo! He’s probably already done a lot of the sight seeing things in Japan, and more than likely has been planning/hoping to explore the rest of the world

Would be more than capable (financially + IQ + EQ) of making reservations for places he knows/thinks you’d find interesting. 

Shows you the the restaurants ratings/comments/news before(if he’s not confident that you’d like it) or after(if he KNOWS you’d like it) making the reservation

Reo would quite frankly be flattered at someone looking below surface level at him.

The same with Reo! He’s not lacking in any of his academics, but his streetsmarts may be a little low- still his intuition/logic/reasoning is still above average

There’s definitely some stuff that you know that he doesn’t, and he’s always happy to learn more practical info

This is pretty comforting to Reo. He doesn’t have to worry about you too much, you’re capable of thriving on your own, his parents approve of someone who’s self-sufficient, Reo knows you’re staying with him (both romantically and platonically) because you enjoy doing so, not because you depend on him.

If you have big plans, Reo’s super interested in hearing about them, and how you plan to achieve them.

Reo is used to being a leader (group projects, sports team, planning outings, walking in the front of the group, etc. mainly shown in pre bllk), which wasn’t something he volunteered for. It’s not like he said “I know where we can go!”, it’s usually others saying “Reo! You have a lot of properties around here, I’m sure you know all the good spots!”. 

He was definitely surprised the first time you straight up told him to do anything. But Reo adjusts fast, and immediately agrees/does what you said. He was actually smiling about it. It was really nice to have someone else take charge, especially when he starts to doubt his own ideas (and the shallows around him aren’t helping)

“4 years? Are you lining it up with the World Cup?”

“Yes, it’ll be an athletic line”

“Don’t do headphones. It won’t sell at all. Do earbuds instead, they’d sell better for an athletic line.”

“Demanding”

In a relationship, Reo is also expecting quite a lot. So obviously he knows he has to prove his worth too. 

Anything he wants you to do, he knows he should also do. Things like daily check-ins, remembering hobbies, making time for each other, etc.

And again, Reo is fast to adjust. If your request is reasonable, he’s definitely willing to supply whatever you need.

“I love to dig an interesting subject in depth even if I miss some sleep hours”

Reo would tell you it’s unhealthy at first, but he’s just saying that. Reo has most definitely lost many nights to soccer analysis, or researching stocks. So he wouldn’t mind too much.

If it caught your attention, Reo thinks it’s definitely worth a look. He’d learn the base level of the subject (mainly out of interest, not just bc of you) and ask you deeper questions

Reo would never turn down learning something interesting

“good to resolve problems”

This really helps Reo when it comes to business. He would go to you if he’s ran into a problem (ex. “We don’t have enough storage to run this code. Should we shorten the code, try to compress it, or switch programs?”)

Ex of what you might say. “I don’t think you can shorten it anymore than you have, and compressing it would only work for so long. Switching programs would be the best idea long term. But while you look for a new program you can compress it so it functions and the code is still somewhat preserved” 

A relationship with Reo would go not-so-great if someone didn’t possess this skill. Reo wouldn’t be able to get his partners help, which means he’d use the “It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it” card, building up tension, distrust, and eventually annoyance at the other(if they kept bothering him about it).

I want to guess(or headcannon) that around 10%-30%(changing if Reo’s in or out of bllk, if it’s Pro!AU, etc.) of Reo’s time is spent on professional/business/educational/developmental stuff, so having a partner that can still be with him during those times is a huge benifit

“Practical”

Reo is also practical! Which I think is a good matchup because it puts less weight on both of you. This is one of the times where I disagree with “opposites attract”.

Ex. The things you bring in your banana bag are probably useful (hand sanitizer, napkins, etc.  Now all Reo has to bring is a mini umbrella, his wallet, and other things. If either one of you weren’t so practical, the other would have to bring a lot more things. 

ex(again) if someone were to wear an (arguably) impractical outfit(ex.shorts and a T-shirt in cold weather bc ‘it looks better’) when going out with one of you, the other would have to bring an extra jacket or sweater.

But because you two can see eye to eye on, life is a lot easier

“straight to the point.”

Reo’s used to classmates who beat around the bush for minutes trying to confess, or business men who subtly try and ask about the state of the company by talking about his parents’ mental health. Point is- he’s used to people sugar coating words, trying to get around confrontation, and what he thinks is basically wasting his time. 

So it’s very pleasing that you don’t do things like that. It makes conversation much more efficient and enjoyable.

Reo would never be upset about it, and in certain cases would thank you for the directness

Dislikes

“public transport canceled when I have something planned that depends on them” + “unreliable ones”

Ikwym. It’s incredibly frustrating when a 3rd party is the cause of problem (especially when it was supposed to be reliable). Reo is most likely the same, since he’s familiar with the business field. This means that he would completely understand if this ever happened (he wouldn’t even think of blaming you) and immediately try and help fix it

Bus was cancelled because it got in an accident? Reo just called an Uber/Taxi/Cab/whateveryouwanttocallit for you.

A hangout with your friend had to take a raincheck? Reo’s looking for nearby indoor restaurants with good reviews.

This or he’d try to work around the problem before it happens. Telling you to Taxi the second you tell him you plan to transit, even linking his card to your Uber account so you can easily and reliably get anywhere(and don’t have to ask him for it everytime bc 1.he knows you’d rather do it on your own and 2.kind of pointless asking him every time).

Or hooking you up with Mikage’s private drivers, because he has those.

“when I fail at something”

If it was a one time thing like a test, he’d probably just buy you whatever your comfort foods are, and a few words of affirmations. Reo would stay around your house (or constantly check your status online/mentally clocking how much sleep you got/etc.) but would never directly bother you, giving you space instead.

Would help you study for the next test after you’re ready, giving tips, quizzing you, telling you what he thought would and wouldn’t be on the test, etc.

If it was something like a piece of paper that just would not print properly, or you were supposed to for some reason this one line of code was not working, he’d instantly get on it and try to figure out how to fix it with you

“It’s supposed to print with colour but it won’t. I already checked the ink cartridge.”

“Did you try a different test paper?” 

“Yes. that didn’t work either.”

“... I’ll go buy you a new printer, stay right here and I'll be back in 3 minutes.”

^(if it was urgent. After that he’d try and figure out what was wrong so it wouldn’t happen again. Or he’d be completely unbothered because he can just buy more printers. Probably the latter.)

“being bored”

Reo couldn’t relate more. Speaking on base level, every day is really the same to him, and besides studying/other business/professional stuff, he’s got quite a few spare hours in a day. He likes to always have something planned at least every few weeks (doesn’t have to be with you) and something big every one or two months. 

You could call him up randomly at 6pm asking if he wants to go see the new movie that was released, and he’d sneak into the theater with you for funzies.

He’s always down to voice or video chat, if there’s a new game you want to play he’s already downloaded it. If you don’t know what you want to play, he’s rapid firing genres to narrow down the options.

Reo knows many good places and things to do, there is never no option. 

And with his financial backing, overseas trips and amusement parks are always possible. It even helps if you have a new hobby you wat to get into!

Overall, having someone who can back up and make crazy plans, goals, ideas and whatnot is always a plus. Especially since most things these days are limited by a lack of money.

I also want to add that Reo knows how to kick back and let his guard down. He definitely knows how to be logistical and professional, but he isn’t beyond enduring himself and being fully in the moment.

"people that don't consider my efforts or qualities"

Reo has dealt with many incompetent people, so he’s very pleased when he can meet someone who can keep pace. Because of this, small things even you don’t notice he takes note of, since usually he’s the one putting in the energy. 

And in turn, he makes sure to do his best too. He sees that you often text him throughout the day, and makes sure to do the same.

Likes

“laugh is my dopamine”

Reo would definitely agree. Being in such a stiff environment where people are constantly trying to appear as professional as possible gets tiring.

He’s used to people faking or exaggerating happiness when talking to him, so genuinely enjoying a moment and laughing is something amazing to him.

“doing thrilling projects and having an impact on things and people”

With Reo, projects you wanted to do but were hesitant about are no longer a problem. He’s there every step of the way to persuade you to do it, helps back up the logistics, being invested and asking for updates, etc.

I’m not sure how to put it into words, but Reo likes being impacted by you. The feeling that you’re making him a happier and better person feels nice. He notices that he’s started to pick up parts of your speech, or texting style. Even his schedule has started making time everyday for you. And he couldn’t be happier

“when people need me or want me to be with them for an activity.”

You are his go to person for anything. Even if he had more options, he would still choose you for anything. 

Sometimes he wonders if he’s bothering you a bit too much, but when he is you tell him you want some time to yourself and he instantly understands. Which means he doesn’t have to hesitate before inviting you anywhere since he knows you’ll be honest 

Hobbies: 

Writing

Reo doesn’t read fiction as often as he likes to, so he’d be more than happy to start with whatever you recommend or even your works!

I think he’d get overly invested in one of your plots, and tries to bribe you to write faster while (not-so) subtlety asking about how the story’s going

He could help you check for grammar, and give actual good feedback on structuring! If you need it that is, he may also just get too immersed and not notice a spelling mistake   

traveling 

Reo would be (imo) the best bllk character to travel with. Not only would he be super into it, but he could fund the whole thing. Places you wanted to go or things you wanted to do all become possible now with him.

going out with friends, eating out with them

Tbh, I don’t think Reo would be very possessive in this relationship. He trusts you and knows that there’s a reason that you’re with him. If you were unhappy Reo knows/thinks you’d tell him.

Now this would probably change if Reo was with someone who wasn’t as blunt. He’d probably be more worried and anxious

If anything, he’d be more than happy to drive you there, recommend spots, or help you plan. 

Maybe he’d ask you to help him check out a store while you’re there, or pick up a few things for him. He’s willing to compensate though if you’d like (for the service/delivery, if he asked you to buy smt for him he’s already paid/sent you money for it.)

riding a motorbike

His parents probably didn’t want him on one, (“Because it’s dangerous and we don’t want you getting hurt!”) doesn’t that stop him?

No.

(if it’s alright with you) he’d take a few rides with you first, probably discovers that it’s pretty cool, and buys his own.

Would ask you about different models, how to change the tires, refill gas, etc. 

Trusts you more than the salesmen

 Cooking

Reo likes watching you do it. If he had a choice between watching a timelapse vs real time, he’d watch it real time.

There’s just something so satisfying about watching everything you do come together

Constantly keeps a stable stock off all ingredients you may need

Out the door in seconds when you say you need something, because he knows you’ll need it soon

Bring you back all kinds of weird and interesting spices. Some just because they had a funny name, or it was your favourite colour lol. 

 gardening for meditation

He would buy you whatever you need. Shovels, pales, pots, fertilizer, etc.

Plants are probably one of his go to gifts for you lol

Has a plant in his room because it reminds him of you (you taught him how to care for it)

Reo’s plant and Nagi’s cactus can be buddies

Volunteers to water your plants when you can’t, and has a doc on how much water each plant needs so he won’t make any mistakes.

But sometimes he waters them first then checks, because he’s playing a game with himself and testing his memory lol. Would never tell you this incase one of them dies.

petting animals

Wouldn’t be all that surprised if he bought a dog when you were starting to get to know him so you’d be more comfortable in his house

cinema, mainly thriller

Reo would rather go out to a cinema then stay inside (i don’t think he likes being home much) so he probably knows which places are streaming what

He used to do the thing where he bought one ticket then movie hopped like 4 times before he had to go to a meeting or something. Ever since then he’s wanted to do it again but stay for long.

So the first time you guys went was normal. He bought VIP tickets, bought (and snuck) whatever snacks you wanted and had a great time! Couldn’t stop talking about the movie after, asking you for your thoughts (ex.“I kind of feel bad for the girl, she didn't really deserve it… But the guy also had every reason to kill her- what do you think?”)

Before you guys went again, he quickly slipped in the convo the idea of movie hopping, since he definitely wanted to do it with you, but wasn’t sure if you’d agree or rat him out. If you reacted well to it, then he’d be suuupperr excited. You two pack a backpack together with enough drinks and snacks for a day and made your plans.

Those were one of Reo’s favourite memories with you.

learning languages

Reo really looks up to you for this, he’s considered picking up a 3rd (after japanese and english) language to help him with business

He’ll joke about hiring you as a translator during negotiations 

If someone in the office was gossiping in a language you speak, he’d record it and get you to translate it after

studying psychology

Psychology was definitely a minor area of interest for him, but he didn’t go out of his way to learn to much about it

Which means that you could tell him a bunch of the stuff you’re learning and he’d be listening to it really carefully

If you ever had something you needed to test he’d be willing to answer some questions! And if you wanted to run a field experiment, he could bring you to the office and interview a few people, or even find volunteers, whatever you need! 

As long as you tell him the result and concept afterwards ;)

Love languages:

act of service (giving)

Reo isn’t used to acts of service from his friends. So he thought people just do it because they’re paid too. (And I highly doubt Nagi helps him much with stuff)

So he’s definitely really happy the first time you do something for him. He didn’t even have to ask and you were already helping him.

Kicks his feet smiling to himself at night about it, because for some reason it makes him so happy that you are willing to do something for him (not because you were trying to impress him or were paid too)

"it's the reverse if I sincerely love the person."

Acts of service is definitely in his top love languages (to give), he literally carries Nagi around if he’s tired, gets him food if he’s hungry, picks him up and drops him off at school, Reo knows how to be of use and WELL.

physical contact (receiving)

I wouldn’t say Reo is touch starved, but he certainly isn’t used to giving or receiving it. So he starts off with small things, then realizes that it’s super comforting and starts to do it more

Reo would be good at reading someone’s mood (all those networking gathering his parents brought him to prove that point), so he’d know if you were uncomfy w/it

Reo would ask about the systems you use (“Your going chronological right?” , “So this is all the papers you still need to finish” , “These are all your back up supplies?”) and unintentionally memorize them because they ‘just make so much sense’ to him.

HEADCANNONS/SCENARIOS

First interaction would go pretty well, as long as you two meet paths.

Either while you're traveling, or out at an event, etc.

It’s not love at first sight, but you’d definitely catch his attention (w/your genuinity and analyst) 

And as soon as he holds small talk with you, he’s already wanting your number

If/when arguments happen, it would take a bit of time but Reo would definitely be the first to either apologize or talk it out.

“I love you, Sae.” “I love you too, [Y/N].” “Please babe. Wake up.” 

Sae shot up, cold sweat running down his body. His hands were shaking and his breath was uneven, how many times has this been now?

26. It had been 26 days since he broke up with you. Why was he still having dreams of your first date? Your loving words and tender affirmations, your smile so bright it had engraved itself in the back of his mind.

It had been a month since he broke up with you, and yet every night your warm touch had seeped into the back of his mind, and into his dreams.

Breaking up with you was meant to help him focus. Not the other way around.

He wondered if it would’ve been better if he just didn’t leave.

“Whatever. What’s been done has been done. There’s no going back.”

He took a deep breath, fingers pressed against the bridge of his nose.

The clock read 4:02 AM. Not that he had to check, it was always 4 in the morning that these dreams released him.

Sae wondered what you were doing in Japan, did you have lunch yet? What were you eating? Who were you eating with? Was it your new boyfri-

“Stop.”

Sae hissed at himself, trying to keep his thoughts in check. He would think of you everyday, he hated it. Whenever he saw your favourite food, he’d think of buying you some. A plushie, would you like it? The cats at the shelter, maybe he should send you a pic…

He grabbed his hair, nails digging lightly into his scalp. It was always you. Why must you haunt his poor heart  head? 

He refused to waste more time on this. He stood up and fixed his bed, a habit he got from you. It was already 4:11, he’d used almost 10 minutes thinking of you again. He clenched his jaw, mentally noting that he didn’t deserve to get himself a sweet treat today, for wasting such time.

But it was better than yesterday’s 18 minutes, right? That’s improvement! Plus, he had trained for 10 hours yesterday as a punishment, so surely it’d be okay to take it easier today, right?

Sae remembered how you used to convince him to take breaks from training with such logic.

He dug his nails into his palm. Enough of you already, he had things to do.

Sae left the apartment, wandering the empty streets illuminated by the streetlamps and the few open cafes/restaurants. 

Sae used to blast music through his headphones to mute his thoughts, but it stopped working after he was reminded that you were the one who handcrafted all the very few playlists of his.

So now he just tried to focus on his surroundings, promptly ignoring any thoughts of you.

He’d been doing this for weeks now, did he feel any better? Would he be happier if he fully got over you? Sae didn’t let himself answer that question.

He was well familiar with the area by now, becoming a regular at any place open at this time around here. There was nothing new for him to focus on.

No no, surely there was something. Wasn’t a new cafe opening somewhere? He could’ve sworn someone handed him a flyer about it…

But truthfully, he could barely remember anything these days. 

Sae pulled out his phone and looked through his gallery to find the picture of the flyer, pretending to not see the dozens of your photos, which he had deleted and re-downloaded multiple times now.

He followed the map towards the cafe, flipping through its online menu. It seemed that the cafe really was new, almost nothing had been set up online, no images, no menu, no reviews. It seemed to be a small struggling business. Sae almost pitied them. If he was capable of such emotions anymore.

Sae pushed open the door, the small bell dangling above it rang a light jingle, notifying the worker that there was a guest

“Oh hello! Uhm… that door was supposed to be locked, haha…”

The poor employee laughed awkwardly, sweating visible bullets.

Sae turned around to look at the door, the rusted lock fell off the frame on to the floor.

The employee gulped, “So, what can I help you with!” She tried to put on a bright smile, since the customer was clearly wealthy, given his looks, there was no way she’d be able to tell him to get out!

Sae looked around, the place really was run down, was it really ready to open?? 

“What do you have?”

“Uhm, let’s see… We have water?”

“...”

“uh- hahaha… just kidding! W-we have other stuff too… uhm- dango, milk tea, tanghulu, pudding, anddd milk?” 

The worker gave a weak smile, Sae was staring right into her eyes, she felt like he’d jump her at any moment!

“Get me two waffles”

“I- sorry?? We don’t offer those, haha…”

She did NOT remember listing waffles as an option, was the guy even listening???

“Oh”

He was not listening

“... Actually- I’ll get that done for you! Give me a few minutes….”

She headed to the back to get his order done.

Shit. Sae impulse ordered waffles again. He doesn’t even like waffles! It was supposed to be your favourite food, not his. Why’d he do that…

He knew exactly why, but refused to admit it.

What was he even going to do with two of them!? The only option really was to scarf it down…

“Uhm… you’ve been staring at me for a while… is there something wrong?”

“Hm? Oh, I wasn’t aware, sorry.”

The worker gave him a skeptic look, as he was still staring, even after the apology. “This guy must be barely awake…”

“Well, here’s your waffles!”

She handed him a paper bag, with clear plastic on one side so he could see inside. Two warm waffles sat, Sae could feel the heat.

“Could I ask, what made you think we were open? No offense or anything- It’s just that the sign on the door said we were closed, and all the flyers said we’re opening next month… I don’t wanna mislead anyone or anything, haha..”

Sae gave a confused look, did he hallucinate…? It wouldn’t be the first time…

He pulled out his phone to check, and sure enough, “GRAND OPENING: NEXT MONTH” was written in bold. How did he miss that???

“Sorry, [Y/N].”

He mumbled, pulling out his wallet, and putting a few hundred bills on the table and sliding it to the worker, “For your troubles”

“Oh! Uhm, Thank you!”

The worker was visibly taken aback, he had given her $750! If she was in a different situation, she probably would’ve insisted on giving it back, but with the way the store was looking, it would go a long way.

Sae headed towards the door, checking the time

“Uhm sir, my name’s not [Y/N] by the way… you can just call me-”

“Oh. Sorry.”

Sae cut her off. He didn’t really care who she was. Now he knew why he was staring at her the whole time, her eyes looked like yours.

“Barely. [Y/N]’s are darker.”

Sae took a waffled from the bag, taking a bite as he walked home

“What am I doing with my life, I can’t even remember Rin’s eye colour but I know her’s? What curse am I under…”

“Maow!”

Sae looked down, a tabby cat was jumping up his leg, reaching for the waffle bag.

“Maowmaowmaowwwwww”

Sae leaned down, squatting as he opened the bag and gave the cat a waffle.

The tabby ate it happily, it seemed well groomed and clean, maybe it belonged to someone?

Sae pet her head, the cat leaning into his touch with a content smile as she purred.

“How cute, they have the same eyes…”

Sae stood up, dusting himself off. He waved goodbye to the cat and continued walking home.

But the cat followed, meowing loudly to get his attention. She didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving.

Sae looked at it for a bit, hesitating. You had always wanted a cat, you even had names prepared. Maybe one day, when you visit, he could show you the cat and convince you to come to his apartment.

“Forget it. She’s never coming back.”

There was no point in keeping the cat, he was never planning on getting one.

And yet he still stared at the cat, the cat staring back with those eyes that he oh so loved, resembling yours.

Fuck it.

Sae scooped up the cat, and continued walking,

“You’re mine now.”

A/N: Teehee! First oneshot :3 this ones inspired by irl events ;) bc i have a crazy rate of dreaming- (daily. And I can remember 75% of the time, which mean my dreams give me crazy amounts of content LMAO)
