This week marked the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising. My whole life, all I heard about was the tremendous Jew hatred in Poland. During our recent visit to Spain, I learned that Poland was one of the most welcoming and tolerant places for Jews…until it was NOT.

Not my words, but very important to share so people know:
"MANIPUR IS BURNING...(A humble request to all , Please do read)
Most of our esteemed members here might not even be acquainted with what Manipur is, and this may be the first time you heard about it. So first thing first, an introduction on Manipur. It is one of the 28 states in India, inhabited mainly by 3 communities - Meitei (the largest community making up about 60% of the population), Naga (around 20%) and Kuki (around 20%).
And most importantly, it is the state in India from where majority of the Bnei Menashe Jewish Community are from. And here, it should be noted that the Bnei Menashe Jews are predominantly from the Kuki community. Though most of the Kuki are Christians by faith, their Israel's ancestral roots, that they are a descendants of the lost tribe of Menashe, is something which is accepted almost by all within the community. They are Zionist at heart and a staunch supporters of the Jewish State of Israel.
And right now, the whole of Manipur state is in turmoil, and on the verge of a civil war between the Meitei and the Kuki. Many houses of helpless Kukis are already burnt down, torched to flames and turned to ashes by the Meiteis. And amongst those is the Bnei Menashe Jewish Community of Sajal. Sajal is a village with a thriving Jewish Community, its village chief himself being a Bnei Menashe Jew with kins and relatives already living in Israel. Unfortunately, all that left of the village is now ashes.
Right now, at this hour, in the middle of the night, with no safe place to flee due to their proximty to Meitei's villages, and no one to turn for help, members of the Sajal Bnei Menashe Jewish community are reportedly forced to take refuge in the nearby forest with fear for their life. G-d forbid, our worst fears is if there might be casualties or fatalities. Nothing is certain for now, and G-d know, what tomorrow might brings.
The State of Manipur is governed by a government run by the Meitei majority. The incumbent Chief Minister (who is the head of the state) is Biren Singh, himself a Meitei. Though we the Kukis have been living there for a milennia ( going by the historical records), we are being called out as "Foreigners" due to our Israel/Jewish connection. Racial abuses and hate speeches and comments in Social Medias by people from the Meitei Community with statement like "Foreigners, go back to your homeland, Israel" has become something of a norm for the past few years. If this isn't Anti-Semitism, then what is it?
The Bnei Menashe Jewish Community, and the Kuki Community as a whole needs your help right now in spreading the truth as The Government of Manipur, or the Meitei control Manipur Government is right now shutting down internet in Manipur trying to cover up what transpires in the state today. And all that I have written here, you wouldn't find it for the time being, in any News or Media Outlet. Army personnel are being deployed in Kukis inhabited areas with "shoot at sight" order giving them the license to kill anyone stepping out the street. Manipur is burning and the lives of the Bnei Menashe Community and the Kuki Community as a whole are at stakes.
I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post something like this. But our people and community in Manipur are desperate and in despair. This is the least I can do to help them for now."
i keep seeing really interesting and good takes about the banning of maus in american public schools and what people do like to read and consume in regards to history. here’s a good thread from twitter about it

On July 11, 1947, the Exodus (formerly the packet steamer SS President Warfield) was intercepted by the British Navy off the coast of Haifa. The ship was carrying 4,500 Jewish men, women and children, virtually all of them Holocaust survivors. The ship was escorted into port, where the exhausted bedraggled passengers were transferred to three other ships, Ocean Vigour, Empire Rival and Runnymede Park and, quite incredibly, returned to Germany (after first docking in France where, on the advice of the Haganah, the passengers refused to disembark). They were then placed in DP (displaced persons) camps. Try to imagine the sheer horror of being returned to Germany after surviving the Holocaust. By the time Israel declared independence, most (by various means) were able to complete the journey they had begun in hope the previous year. The second vessel is one of four new state-of-the-art Sa'ar 6 warships that will patrol Israel's coastline and protect its people for many years to come.
