All these countries don’t deserve the crap being forced down their throats, and I hope Charles croaks quickly.

King Charles' coronation will be happening on May 6th and the people of Australia, Ireland, and other places still under the commonwealth are expected to stand in front of the screen with their hands over their hearts and by homage by swearing their loyalty to the new King.

It'll be on May 6th at 5pm whatever timezone UK is in. I'll be sure to eat some Taco Bell to ensure that I'm on the toilet for the coronation. And the Celts already summarized how I feel.

Also see Lana from the Alola Arc, who started being called a creators pet simply cause she could battle with some degree of skill.

People didn’t like Iris because she called Ash a kid all the time. Those who project themselves onto Ash took it as an insult. Those who were die-hard fans of the anime who didn’t like the usual reset Ash got took it as an insult. Iris showed no interest in Ash other than a friend, therefore those who projected themselves onto Ash couldn’t get a waifu. That’s really all it comes down to. Manchildren and fanboys being stupid.

Personally as much as the DP Stans Get a boner over a 3 Part Battle, I personally have no interest in watching it. It was what ultimately what killed Ash VS Paul from having ANY decent payoff (not that the outcome would have had any payoff with its end). It’s just fucking boring.

Translations done by Dephender. A four-part battle, it’s now sounding like? That’s unprecedented. I think the longest we’ve had up to this point is the three-episode Ash vs. Paul.

That shit with Paul is the absolute fucking worst. The 2 ideas they had, both the “you can have different methods for the same destination” and the abuse plot could have been good.

The problem? They put them together. These concepts DON’T MIX.

What Ash basically learnt was “hey, that person physically, verbally and emotionally abusing their pets? Well ignore it and let them get on cause tHaTs ThEiR sTrAtErGy”. That’s an extremely toxic lesson to put in a damn kids show. No wonder Tepig had to repeat this plot and reteach “Abuse is Wrong”. Wouldn’t think you would have to do that.

Made worse by the fact Paul DID. NOT. DEVELOP. He remained the same cruel, vile abuser from the start of DP to the end, mostly cause the fan didn’t want him to develop, cause in order to ACTUALLY develop Paul would be to make him nice, and they couldn’t have that, cause he’s “a CoMpEtE aNd UtTeR dIcK iN a WoRlD oF nIcE pEoPlE”, despite the fact that Gary was also that but had personality.

People can enjoy the anime as they want, the styles,tone, focus on certain aspects have shifted constantly over its 22 year history so some sagas appeal to more than others. It’s always doing different things. Some people got into it through the games hence why they find the battling the most appealing eps to watch (there’s a lot of overlap with DP/XY fans for a reason). Some watch for the character drama and some watch for just the Pokemon etc

I never said people can’t enjoy XY.  This whole thing started because someone asked me my opinion on XY, which attracted an XY Stan anon.  And I do play the games.  Quite religiously, in fact, but I still want good writing in the anime, rather than just spectacle.  And don’t get me started on DP.  Just don’t.  DP’s even worse than XY.

First of all, Iris was not “just handed” Dragonite.  She found a wild Pokémon and bonded with it over the course of the episode.  Also, good of you to ignore that Dragonite didn’t even obey Iris right off the bat, meaning she still had quite a bit of work to do as its trainer.  They didn’t just hand her a perfect win button.

You know who was “just handed” a Pokémon? Dawn.  Funny how no one calls her out on this (Note: I don’t dislike Dawn).

And there is no such thing as a “pseudo-legendary” in the anime.  Pokémon ARE NOT bits of data with stats in the anime, so they have no BSTs.  Dragonite is just another Pokémon.  Or are you just ignoring that time in the anime when Ash’s Pikachu defeated a Dragonite?

And while I won’t deny I love Iris, she isn’t even my favorite female companion.  That’s May (though I haven’t caught up with SuMo, and Lillie’s giving her competition).  Favorite female character? Jessie.

Iris literally has tons of development.  She learns to apologize and not prioritize winning over her partner, she gradually opens up and trusts her friends more.  Her teasing of Ash gets more affectionate as the series goes on.  It’s more akin to family squabbling.  Also, Iris is on the immature side herself, but she IS correct to say Ash is just like a little kid.  Anyways, my dad and I call each other kids all the time.  My younger brother calls me a kid a lot, too. I’m an adult. It’s not a big deal. Iris’s arc is about learning to empathize with others, which makes her a better trainer.

She’s an empath who has trouble empathizing with other people and Pokémon.

And her catchphrase is a direct result of her past.  She was ostracized at the Academy for her wild behavior, so she internalized that was desperate to be not be seen as “such a kid”.

She’s certainly not a Mary Sue, not is she my self-insert.

And Ash-Greninja itself is bullshit.  It adds to Ash’s Specialness™ points, because he and Greninja are the only ones in the entire anime able to do this.  There aren’t even other examples mentioned in passing.  Ash and Greninja are the first.  It also comes out of nowhere and is poorly developed.  That’s the hallmark of a Gary Stu.
