I Freaking Love This. Iris is One of My Favorite Characters in Pokemon, And Is The Best Developed Character in Best Wishes

I honestly agree. I gave Dawn a few chances before I gave up. She’s not an awful character, I actually didn’t mind her in DP’s first 27 Episodes, but it ends up screwing over after that. She just became a Stale Ash/May Hybrid. I think Diamond & Pearl’s Anime Screwed Up a lot when it came to developing the characters, and Dawn is a good example

May & Drew are cute also but I’m not passionate about that one.

Iris is probably one of the best developed female companions Ash has gotten in the show.

Misty & Dawn feel inferior. Misty became a tiny bit more motherly, but never grew in skill, and remained extremely static. Dawn is similar. She became a tiny bit more mature and creative, but also didn’t change much.

May is probably the most developed, though if it was well handled is up for debate. It started off really slow, and once it happened, it flashed by. From there pretty much all her development was in Contest Episodes (She’s a Coordinator, yeah, but you need to too be better spread.) She also had no transition into wanting to find a goal. She just kind of stumbled across and contest and said “Hey! I want to be a Coordinator”. I still like her (More than Misty & Dawn in fact), but her development was kinda eh. Nice, but needed more

Serena is also debatable. Her development is a copy-paste for May’s, and starts slow and remains slow, but I feel it was handled better. With Serena questioning herself, then finding out about Showcases, watching one, setting her goal (catching her first Pokemon at the same time), entering her first but failing, allowed us too see her progression from The girl with a crush on Ash, into someone who wanted to take themselves seriously. Then when she won is was satisfying to how far she’s come. XY isn’t over yet, so she’s not done yet.

We get too see Iris’s progress more viably than other girls, going from a Bossy/Vain character with a team full of derps, into an appointed Gym Leader with a Team all suited for battle, let us see her growth more than most other girls

I agree! I always thought the Delta Episode was missing something.. hopefully it gets explained in the next Pokemon Game.

I’ve always loved the ending the the Looker Story in X/Y

Looker post game, though it doesn’t help that the Delta Episode is an incomplete story.

Brock spammed his “Lets propose” to girls gag every episode. It was ok at first, but as they started to overuse him, it got annoying real fast

Bonnie, while her version can still be irritating, Doesn’t happen as often

Hi Tamashi, A while ago I sent you a question regarding which TPCi series of the Pokemon Anime you liked the most, and you responded Best Wishes. I'm just wondering what makes you like Best Wishes more than Diamond & Pearl/XY, Considering it gets more hate among fans, It made me wonder why you like it more than 2 loved sagas of the show. Well, XY has been pretty awful so far, and I never really gave DP a chance because I was so mad that they fired all the VAs. Best Wishes came out when I was old enough that I didn’t really care anymore and I really liked Iris (and enjoyed Gen 5 as a whole so I was more receptive to the anime). It had its problems, most of which were due to rewrites, Ash regressing, and budget concerns, but I didn’t hate watching it which is more than I can say for DP or XY. Perhaps upon a serious watch of the show I may enjoy DP more with some perspective. It has Brock in it though. And Dawn. Hum.

I’m guessing people think because Pokemon is coming up to it’s 16th Anniversary (I think :P, not sure about the exact number), they think their going to release a remake of Gen 1 to commemorate the occasion. Basically wanting a 2nd Gen 1 remake as the last Gen 6 Game.

I honestly think it’s pointless. Not only is it a remake of a game which has already been remade, but it’s just lazy. Gamefreak could be doing better things with their time, like developing a 3rd Version/Sequel Versions for Kalos to improve post game content & story, or just move on the the next generation.

I would rather spend money on a new game I don’t know very well, and be surprised, rather than replay a prettier version of a game I already played, meaning I could finish the game in under an hour, cause I already know every angle of it. Also, 2 remakes in one Generation, Please -_- Gimme something new, not a lazy repeat of a repeat

Do you think there will be a remake of the remakes of Red/Blue/Yellow? I'd love to see Pokemon Burning Fire Red :P

Yeah, I can see why the AshXFemale Companion Ships (Advance/Pearl/(Negai)/Amour), and RocketShipping would need their own videos, considering how long many episodes they have had of interactions. I assume the rival ships could fit in one video, only because rivals don’t appear as much as the others, but fitting all of those in one video would be hard, considering there’s loads that goes into each ship

Hi Tamashi! In Your PokeShipping video, you said how you were originally going to cover a whole spectrum of ships, but you found so much for one it took up an entire video. I'm just wondering which other ships you were planning to include before having to cut them out. Thanks :)

Most of the main popular ones (Ash + Female Companion), Rocket Shipping, and some Ash + Rival ships. But it seems like most will need their own video

Well, there were other factors which led to the BW writers getting fired (Including Cilan, Ash still being 10, and other little things), but I heard Iris was the biggest one. I’m kinda surprised about you saying she’s the same in the games personality wise, as I like Anime Iris more for her personality changes from the games (She was cute in the games, but lacked overall character, while Anime Iris is wilder, and suffered similar issues I did while she was at school). But never the less, yeah, Dawn & Serena’s personality do fit into Japanese roles more than Iris does. Thanks :)

Because they needed a character to showcase the fashion aspect of X and Y. Pokemon is a giant commercial after all. Also they were too lazy to create a character so they made her romantically attracted to Ash and substituted that for character development. Serena is lazy and contrived through and through.

Well, That’s a really different idea to mine. I always thought they did after the backlash Iris got. 

Remembering back, you said that Dawn was really popular in Japan, and considering her personality was very girly, it’s significant. However, going over to Iris, who was really badly received, even causing some fans to drop out, and that leading to loads of the Best Wishes writers to get fired, it may have made them fear making a character similar may have the same effect, so being in a character with Dawn’s personality to a bit more of an extreme. That’s just me though :P
