JUNGKOOK X VOGUE/GQ
This isn’t ok

Honestly,was it always like this?
Am I changing or are the fans changing too?
Are these only post-PTD fans who got used to shallow content that they don’t really have a sense of what’s important and what not? Kids who think they have to be foot soldiers, there on duty to push streams, cheer on BTS no matter what they do,and make edits as fast as they can? Because this, this isn’t enjoying any of it.

Why is a magazine photoshoot (ooh they look hot? boringggg. idgaf) and a selca on the same level with a song, now. A really good song. (maybe it got less attention bc it sounds too much like 2kids by Taemin? but it don’t think it’s that ). Because there are no streaming goals? Because it has no editing and meme potential? No “prod SUGA” label to brag about?
Super Tuna was awesome btw and I’m still thanking Jin for that, cause it got me out of a dark place, but it had that viral TikTok hit potential. Taehyung’s song doesn’t.
You can’t do anything with it except listen to it while you go outside for a drive,or just let it keep you company through whatever you’re going on in your life. I woke up,scrolled through insta, saw TH’s story, and just..felt happy, and that’s such a rare happening these days. What more is there to it?
Well,I should have stopped there. I went to see how the other armys were affected by it...

...unfortunately,my dumb brain works the exact same way,so I get it. I need to complete tasks. I need checklists and schedules and to know what everyone else is doing and to follow the rules,or I feel like I’m sinking. I fucking get the need to “do this properly and seriously”. Which is why I’m obsessing over others tweets instead of enjoying the song myself.
Sometimes just letting go and enjoying things is hard. But that’s what art is for,to get you OUT OF THAT MINDSET. So why are we just completing bingo cards and ticking checklists now, about the kind of things that are supposed to make you feel something?? If everything is on the same level to you,are you even moved by any of it? You don’t have to like every IG post, react to everything, love everything equally. There’s no point to any of it then.

I guess the reason I made this rant is because I saw a comment or tweet, can’t remember, saying something along the lines of “it was less chaotic during the concerts than now with their instagram posts”...
And that’s so true..It really looks like the priorities have shifted. The concert was supposed to be the most important part of all the content we got this year. But it just feels like it came and went, and the main point of it was how funny BTS were each night and not the actual performances. Seeing how people react to the IG content like it’s too much, when in fact it’s literally nothing but a couple of pictures and videos and a half of a song, just makes everything look so shallow now. How is ON performed for the first time in front of the public,or Dis-ease,for only the second time on a stage, ever, not a cultural reset, but BTS learning to use IG or a Taehyung and Jungkook selca is?
If it’s like really like that, other than memes and the ship wars,on one side, and sense of duty and responsibility on the other, what is going to be left after a while?
I actually like the content we got:their timelines,Taehyung’s song,Yoongi’s verse on the Juice WRLD collab, now even Season’s Greetings. I’m full for two weeks now. I just want to share and talk about each of those things, enjoy them, give them the attention they deserve. But tomorrow there’ll already be something else. Because this is a job now,and no one can stop. See content, react to content, move on fast to new content. I thought I was just slow and didn’t get it,but they are not enjoying it either. JUST FUCKING STOP then. It’s an insult to both BTS and you. Pick one thing and react to it.
There is so much happening, but do you even have something special left for yourself? Anything you will remember fondly? Just be alone with BTS for a little.
(It’s a rant so I’ll probably think the opposite in 2 business days but whatever,I want to get used to posting these kinds of things. If anyone reads this, feel free to disagree.)
Army go listen to Fire or something. It really shows you were born and raised on a diet of PTD &Butter.

Yeah,I’m aware that BTS aren’t doing any better themselves at the “relax and chill” part, except for Jin. You are me,I am you~ applies to BTS and Army too. But they’re working for their own dreams. You’re here not sleeping because you’re waiting for Bam pics.
How I feel about Jikook too. I ship Yoonmin. I think Jimin and Jungkook are most likely together. They’re very different situations.
I don’t have a list of Jikook moments,I can’t prove why I think like that. They just consistently have looked, since at least 2018(?),like every other happy long-term couple I have seen. Same type of body language, same voice tone, same way of just doing everything in sync, that people who are together usually have with each other. If I saw two people act like this at the grocery store,I’d immediately classify them as a couple.
Why is it idols(assuming they are queer)falling for their band mates, weirder than actors or doctors dating each other? They’re in high stress jobs with no free time, and they spend most of their time only with their group and their staff. And if your very hot band mate who you’re very close with already, likes you back, and the company and the other members in the group have no problem with it,why not date?
I’m not shipping or supporting them or however you wanna call it,to prove anything. I just feel they are,and that it would be insulting to them to say otherwise.
If it was a different ship in BTS that gave me that feeling, like, idk,Taejin or Minimoni,I wouldn’t say much because there nothing has explicitly been shared with me as a fan. But Jimin and Jungkook leave the impression that they want to be seen. The JM tattoo? Whatever 2019 was? the song choice for GCFT? JK’s (Jimin-themed) film studio being called a Closet,of all things. Like, that’s the opposite of keeping it hidden. So,if they want to be seen,I’m gonna see them.
Honestly, the main reason I ‘ship’ Jikook/Minguk/Kookmin is not even that they’re adorable together, which they are. But that I would feel very embarrassed to say to their face “you’re not dating” when I basically feel Jungkook has that closet door open as wide as he can and is Jimin is next to him holding a big-ass sign that says “yes,it’s exactly what you imagine it is!!”
That’s why I don’t get why Taekookers are so hell-bent on having their ship proven real in order to enjoy it. No one is taking your fic and art and selcas away from you, keep shipping away. But leave Jimin and Jungkook alone, those are real people, possible real gay/bi men who you’re throwing under the bus because they get in the way of you fantasizing about one of them? That’s fucking gross.
(Idk why the original rant is tagged Namjoon too bc it’s a different situation, there really isn’t as much info as with Jikook. If Namjoon gets as direct in his songs as Soyeon from G-idle or Mamamoo Wheein about him liking the same sex,I’ll go from 30% to 80% in thinking the mystery man is his bf. But with only the info we have now I think it’s also rude to both Namjoon and his friend to assume you can’t be that close to someone unless it’s romantic)
Listen,
I am not a a fan of people always saying, “maybe (insert guy) was happy because (insert other guy) is a friendly friend who friends”.
No offense to anyone in particular, but that will always rub me the wrong way. I’m sorry.
Shipping is not the only reason me as a fan, might say certain famous people could be in a relationship. Sometimes people have chemistry and/or show case behavior that leans toward that conclusion, but it doesn’t have to deal with shipping.
We don’t consider questioning if coworkers or classmates are dating, shipping, do we? We don’t consider the assumption that strangers sitting close and making heart eyes at a restaurant to be dating, shipping, do we? We don’t consider people flirting in the club shipping, do we?
No, to all of the above. So why is it that there must be a disclaimer whenever it comes to famous people? I’m not over analyzing. I’m not “forcing” a sexuality on anyone. I’m stating an opinion, on why I think this or that celebrity might be dating or have feelings for someone who, to me, they act in the way with.
As well, shipping should only be done for fun. I ship Vmin. I ship Minimoni, Vminkook, NamMin, and Taejin. I ship Hyunlix, Minsung, and Changlix, and even 3Racha, because all those pairings are cute. I love the dynamics between them.
But in case I’ve never said it point blank:
I do not ship Jikook. I just think they’re probably dating. Yes, I do think they’re a cute pairing too and I enjoy their dynamic, but I don’t feel the same way about them I do my actual ships. To me, they just seem like two famous people who like each other a lot, and might have acted on it.
Same way, as I always say, Tom Holland and Zendaya feel. People “shipped” them in the fandom context, but people also openly talked about them as if they were an actual couple for years, yet they only confirmed it like last week, lol.
And now, to that I shall add Chan and Felix. I do not ship them. I think Chan has an unrequited crush on Felix, and I have almost since the very first time I watched SKZ content and he was sitting in his studio, gushing about Felix’s freckles. So it’s not about shipping them in the fun fandom context. It’s about having consumed his own actions and words, and coming to the conclusion that he might have a crush. Because he’s a real live person who presumably has feelings for people too.
I feel like the idea of shipping has consumed so much of social media and the way we perceive celebrity behavior, that it’s almost taboo to discuss actual human things, such as dating and crushes. They are people too. They have the same real life interactions with potential significant others as we do, and pointing that out is not automatically shipping them.
Anyway. Sorry for the sudden rant, and again this isn’t targeted, even though it did stem from a particular thing. Although, it’s nothing personal, because it crosses over so spectacularly, that I wanted to get my thoughts out.
