Floyd Leech X GN!Shrimpmer!Reader X Jade Leech

Warnings: Mild Violence, Brief Mentions of Accurate Shrimp Cleaning Methods (kind of gross)

I literally had written up a mini fic showcasing the tweels first meeting Shrimper!Reader… and lost it. Have no idea where it is. Searched through my drafts and got pissed, so just started over from scratch.

Can be read as platonic but with a lot of sus behavior ngl

Shrimpmer!Reader

The Basics (aka an Introduction to Shrimpmer!Reader)

Shrimpmer!Reader is a cleaner shrimp, a type of shrimp known for cleaning off parasites, algae, insects, and other bad stuff from fish. They’ve even been known to eat the mucus and infectious material around a fish’s wound to reduce infection and aid in healing. There are different species of cleaner shrimp, ‘scarlet skunk’ or ‘white-striped’ cleaner shrimps being known for cleaning the mouths of moral eels specifically.

Shrimpmer!Reader specifically comes from a family of cleaner shrimps that have a long-standing business partnership with the Leeches. Their family provides their cleaning and patch-up services to better the mereels’ health and heal any injuries, and in turn, the Leeches provide protection. It’s a mutualistic relationship where both benefit. And congrats, they were assigned to the tweels when they were but a mere fry and twins were still little elvers.

But what is it that Shrimpmer!Reader does exactly? Well, they have a cleaning station set up (i.e. a flat rock for the tweels to lay on while they work) and they go over the twins’ body, ridding it of any parasites and other debris. Picking at their scales and skin like a fine-tooth comb. They’ll even clean their sharp teeth using specialized brushes and tools to make sure nothing is stuck and strengthen the dentin (real shrimp physically go inside eel’s mouths, but shrimpmers are too big for that). Whenever the twins come to them with an injury after one of their scuffles, Shrimpmer!Reader will clean and disinfect the wound, being sure to remove any parasites, then wrap up the wound to heal faster.

In terms of anatomy and size difference, Shrimpmer!Reader is much smaller compared to the twins, but not on the same scale difference as real shrimps and moray eels. They’re not tiny enough to fit in their mouths but are small enough to be carried with ease. The best comparison I can give is like with the dwarves and Neige, but the tweels’ eel forms are much bigger compared to regular humans, so Shrimpmer!Reader would be shorter compared to a human as well. Floyd would joke about them being “child-sized.” Just like the Octatrio, their bottom half is that of a white-striped cleaner shrimp while the rest of their body has the matching miscolored skin, fin ears, and a pair of long, white antenna on the top of their head. No, their hands aren’t claws/pincers, but they do have sharp nails that aid in cleaning.

The Shrimp and the Eels Headcanons

Like mentioned above, Shrimpmer!Reader was assigned to Floyd and Jade back when they were all still children. Each new generation of Leech ends up being assigned a cleaner shrimp who are around the same age so that they can grow together and build a proper symbiotic bond. You just ended up unlucky ‘cause Mr. and Mrs. Leech had twins and you were the only available one in your family at the time. A two for one deal, as it were.

Rough first meet (the twins are asses even back then), but you eventually adjusted and they learned how much they actually enjoy getting all those nasties off of them. You were gentle and efficient, it was very soothing, almost therapeutic to them. But it was only after one particular cleaning where Floyd came to you, a week after he got into a fight, wound infected and riddled with parasites, that they fully realized just how much they needed you. Neither twin skipped a cleaning or wound treatment after that.

You are tiny and not built for fighting, so the twins are more than happy to do so for you!~ Some predator is stalking you, trying to get a taste? Floyd is already grabbing them by the tail, pulling them away from you and towards his own dangerously sharp jaws. Another merperson is bulling you, picking on your smaller size? Jade’s looming right behind, tail at the ready to squeeze the life out of them. Most of your patch-up work was from attending to their wounds sustained in fights defending you.

Floyd and Jade both have their tails wrapped around some poor, unfortunate soul who was pulling on your antenna. Jade is taunting the crying fry while Floyd is “playfully” biting their tail fins.

“Jade, Floyd, let them go already. You’re going to get in trouble…”

You do meet Azul later on, though never quite befriend him per say. His contracts made you uncomfortable and untrusting of his intentions. In turn, Azul was stiff and reserved around you on the account of the overly protective eels threatening to chew his tentacles off if he tried anything.

You’re not a student at NRC nor a student of RSA. Magic isn’t your forte (or your concern really), the tweels are. Which is why you do visit the schoolgrounds frequently, especially after the two (mainly Floyd) start complaining about “needing their shrimp.” They’re not even in their eel forms most of the time, but they do still get into fights and the nurse on staff isn’t good enough.

Congrats, you’re now the Leech’s designated Health Support Cleaner Shrimp, or whatever bullshit the twins pulled out of their tails when forcing requesting to Crowley that you be allowed to stay at Octavinelle! Double congrats, because you also work at Mostro Lounge as a janitor because you literally clean for a living!

In your human form, you are much shorter than most of the other students and you have two long cowlicks that resemble your antenna. You aren’t the biggest fan of this form, finding two legs to be difficult to navigate, especially since you kind of skipped the prep class. Floyd was impatient and claimed him and Jade would just teach you themselves. An unwise decision really.

I mean, you could also just request to have the potion adjusted so you can be taller too, I guess idk the twins aren’t going to tell you that.

You sometimes turn back into your merform with the tweels and swim together because you miss it. Floyd definitely missed curling his tail around his little shrimp and pinning you down with his much bigger size. He especially loves to flip you on your back and watch your little feetsies wiggle around in a panic.

Jade misses the cleanings more than anything else. Being a vice dormleader while also working at a lounge and doing schoolwork is stressful for one eel. So, being able to just relax and have you attend to him while he prattles on about mushrooms is absolute heaven. That’s not to say he doesn’t mess with you either. Jade will gladly use your height against you by putting your cleaning supplies on a higher shelf, so you’re forced to ask him for help, teasing you all the while.

No, you can’t clean anybody else, merfolk or otherwise. Only them. Azul almost lost a tentacle after suggesting such a thing when he noticed business was running slower.

You’re their cleaner shrimp, and they’re your eels. Anybody aware of the Leech’s influence know to back off lest they end up missing under mysterious circumstances.

Oh yeah, and the tweels, at some point, made it a habit to kiss you after you finished cleaning them under the guise of you “cleaning their teeth.” It’s become something so casual between you three now that when Azul caught sight of the twins and you locking lips, he nearly fell over at not realizing the three of you were (supposedly) an item.

Firefly

A post for @cloudcountry 's event to get Idia out of his room! Yes this may or may not have been inspired by a small quote in Auburn's profile

"This is it. I'm gonna die. You're trying to kill me."

"Idia, you're fine. There's barely anyone out here."

It's was quite a sight to see the tall man hunched behind you as he tried to hide out of sight from other people. Any time another student was in sight, even if they were far away, he would move ever so slightly closer to you. His hand held onto your own as you led him along the pathway to Ramshackle Dorm.

It certainly wasn't often that Idia got out of his room for...well, anything really. So you were actually doing him a favor. On the way out of Ignihyde, Ortho had even given you an approving smile.

But you knew Idia better than most, and you truly cared about him! So while you wanted to show him something, you also wanted to make sure he was comfortable. That's why you tried to take him out when there wouldn't be as many people, and you two took the paths others didn't go on as often to avoid anyone that was out.

"We're not far now. I promise there won't be anyone there either. Just us."

He didn't really respond, but you could sense the appreciation. You could just see him relax slightly. His hold on your hand had loosened, but he didn't let go.

The small lanterns around the outside of Ramshackle were the only thing lighting your path. Under the night sky, the building could look ominous, but not to you. To you, it was peaceful. Almost like a home. But you weren't taking him inside. Instead, you were taking him to the small forest behind the old building.

You already had everything set up. A small blanket laid upon the grass in a small clearing between the trees. Near one corner of the blanket there were some snacks and two small jars.

But what caught both of your attention the most, was the sight you had brought him here to see. Throughout the small clearing and behind the trees were dozens upon dozens of small flickering lights. Possibly hundreds of small fireflies flew through the air around the two of you. Their lights twinkled and decorated the dark night like stars in the sky.

You led Idia with you over to the blanket in the clearing before handing him one of the jars. He stared down at it for a small moment before clearing his throat.

"You...brought me out here to catch bugs?"

"Not just any bugs. Fireflies. They're pretty and if we catch them then they can be like a small memento. Or a gift for Ortho in proof of what you did."

He paused in thought for several moments before letting out a sigh and took the jar, carefully unscrewing the lid.

"Fine..."

"Think of it like a quest. A quest to capture say...three fireflies."

He seemed content enough with that, and stepped away to try and scope out the fireflies. You watched him as he followed several and stumbled about trying to catch them. While it seemed easy enough in the beginning, the fireflies were quick and kept managing to escape his capture. He'd mutter curses under his breath each time one escaped before quickly moving onto the next one.

The true plan of yours unfolded once he had managed to get two fireflies in his jar. He'd taken a quick moment to look down at the small bugs he'd captured with a small smile, and that's when you saw your perfect moment.

His victorious smile was quickly wiped off his face and replaced with a startled expression the second he saw the flash of light. His head snapped towards your direction only to see you smiling and pulling the camera away from your face as it printed out the photo. Your hand grabbed the newly printed photo and started to shake it lightly, laughing as he looked like a deer in headlights.

"This was a trap?!"

You shook your head, "It wasn't a trap. Look! You caught some fireflies!"

His hands tightened around his jar of fireflies that he had worked so hard to catch. Those golden eyes shifted from you down to your empty jar.

"You haven't been trying to catch any..."

"Of course I have. I just have a different method than you."

Looking at the photo, you were quite proud of yourself. It perfectly captured the moment of Idia's victorious smile as he looked down at the bugs in the jar. All around him, several firefly lights could be seen shining, some even flying near his fiery hair in interest. It was perfect.

You smiled over at him once more as you carefully put the photo in the jar, and shut the lid.

"Look! I caught my firefly!"

Unspoken Love

Requested By: @herdrops

Oneshot

Summary: Unable to confess their love out loud, MC does so through small acts of service and gifts. After realizing what they're doing, Satan returns the favor. Satan x Shy! Reader Word Count: 1,866

Words and phrases were Satan’s forte. Though, it would be silly to expect anything less considering the amount of time he spent reading.

When he first picked up a book, it was to gain respect. He couldn’t accept the fact that he was born from Lucifer because he was afraid no one would treat him as an individual.

He wanted to gain as much knowledge as possible to prove those people wrong. To show them how much of an independent and intellectual person he was.

But he soon grew a fascination with reading. He found that it wasn’t just a well of knowledge but it was something that entertained him. It could take him to faraway lands or teach him about feelings that he hadn’t experienced yet.

He knew anger. He knew sadness. He knew fear. But there was one emotion didn’t know - love. He was obsessed with reading about it.

Not the kind of love that he was told was shared between him and his brothers. But the kind of love where you want to share your life with someone. The kind of love that makes your heart skip a beat whenever the person walks into the room. The kind of love that makes you smile whenever you see them.

He read countless romance books, eager to know everything about it so that he knew when he experienced it in real life. But, no matter how many books he read, he never felt that way.

It wasn’t for lack of trying.

Satan had tried to make friends with others. And as one of the seven rulers, he had plenty of people approach him. But no one gave him that feeling that so many authors and poets wrote about.

That was until you walked into his life.

The first few times Satan talked to you, he believed there was something wrong with him.

His heart would race, he would feel hot, and his hands would sweat. He was sure that he was coming down with some sort of sickness.

But, when it kept happening, he realized that those were symptoms of being around you specifically. So then, what about you made him feel ill?

And as that question ran through his mind, his thoughts went back to his romance books. Back to the way the characters felt in the presence of their beloved. He wasn’t feeling sick - he was feeling nervous.

He was positive he was jumping to conclusions. That he was once again getting his hopes up. So desperate to know what love felt like that he was making things up. Creating ties where there weren’t any.

But he couldn’t deny the fact that every time he saw you smile, his heart swelled. Or the fact that whenever you talked to him, he would get an excited feeling in his stomach. Not to mention how excited he would get whenever the two of you had a moment alone.

Satan was a stickler for hard facts and those were all undeniable proof of what was happening. He was finally experiencing love for the first time in his life.

But love often went hand in hand with fear. Fear that you wouldn’t feel the same way. Fear of unrequited love. He had also read about that in his books, and it never ended well.

So, he didn’t have the confidence to approach you and simply tell you how he felt. He needed a plan first. He needed - wanted - you to fall for him back first.

He tried to mimic the things he learned in his novels. He did similar acts of service, attempted to recite some of their best lines, and even tried to give you lavish gifts that the love interests always seemed to like.

But his attempts didn’t go far. You always seemed to appreciate them. You would blush when he complimented you, be grateful when he did something for you, and thank him kindly whenever he got you a gift. But he still felt like he was no closer to getting you to love him.

He didn’t understand what he was doing wrong. It worked in his books every single time.

He had to take more time to analyze the situation. There had to have been something he was missing.

He observed every detail written on the pages when it finally clicked. In all of his planning, he didn’t take into account that you might not like the same things they liked.

He assumed you were like them instead of your own person. A mistake he scolded himself for because he knew how wrathful he could become when someone did the same to him with Lucifer.

These characters liked grand gestures because they were so bold and forward with their emotions. But you were more soft-spoken and shy. It was something he loved about you.

Love interests in his book tended to be fearless in their acts of love. Their confessions would be over the top and flashy. They proclaimed their love in extravagant ways, always making a huge deal out of it.

Satan assumed that was how all love was supposed to be. How was he to know otherwise?

But the more he sat by himself in his room and thought, the more he comprehended that you had been returning his love this entire time. Just, in a different way. In your perfectly unique way.

It was a moment of revelation as a montage of his past moments with you played in his mind.

Satan had come to the library one day, desperately needing to escape from the outside world for a bit. He found you there waiting for him already.

You immediately smiled upon seeing him, and he couldn’t help but do the same, genuinely happy just to see you.

The kind of love that makes you smile whenever you see them.

You had laid out Satan’s favorite books on the table, paying attention to which ones he liked to reread when he was feeling particularly worn out. He looked down at the table and noticed the one he wanted sitting on top of the pile as if you had read his mind.

He knew that you weren’t always the most talkative, so he sat down next to you silently. Giving you a small smile as he did before turning his attention to his book.

He hadn’t been reading for too long when he felt a pair of eyes on him. He looked up and his breathing faltered as he saw you staring at him. You immediately blushed at being caught and quickly turned your attention back to your book.

*

About a week after that incident, Satan asked you if you would want to meet up with him to study for a bit. He wanted to spend some time alone with you, but he wasn’t sure how to ask you without coming off too forward.

He anxiously awaited your arrival, sitting alone at a table inside a nearby cafe. He figured a public place would make you feel more comfortable. But as the time ticked on, he was getting worried you had stood him up.

That’s when he saw you approaching him, a gentle smile on your lips as you walked over to him. His heart skipped a beat as you got closer and closer to him.

The kind of love that makes your heart skip a beat whenever the person walks into the room.

“I’m sorry I’m late!” you apologized, setting your things down. Satan was about to tell you it was okay when you continued to explain, “The bookstore was having a sale and I thought you would want some!”

Satan was surprised by your words but was even more so when his eyes trailed to your hand to see you holding out multiple cat-themed bookmarks.

“I know how much you like cats,” you added quietly, avoiding his gaze as a light pink dusted your cheeks.

Satan graciously took the bookmarks from you, telling you how much he appreciated the gesture. He would make sure to treat them like his most prized possession. They came from you, after all.

There were multiple times when you had surprised Satan with a gift or act that no one else would have thought twice about. And although he didn’t put too much thought into it at first, he realized now what it meant.

You had to have been quietly observing him from afar to know what he liked. He had been doing the same as well. He had noted what you liked to drink, what you liked to eat, what your favorite color was.

He could write an entire book about all of the things he’d come to learn about you. And eventually, he did have to write it down, scared to forget something.

And he had never been so thankful for his detailed personality. If this was your love language, he was more than happy to speak it with you. He would show you his affection in any way that you wanted.

Satan started doing small things in return for all the ones you had done for him.

He would wait for you outside of your classroom with your favorite drink in his hand. He immediately smiled when he saw you and he offered you the drink.

The blush on your cheeks as you accepted it only made his feelings for you grow stronger. He wondered if you knew how adorable you always looked.

Every glance from you that he noticed, he would return with twice as much love in his eyes.

Every smile you gave him, he would respond with one that was as equally bright and somewhat unfitting for the Avatar of Wrath.

If he ever heard you talking to someone or himself about a book you wanted to read, he would make sure that he got it for you the next day. He would present it to you in the library and ask if you wanted to read it with him.

He never wanted anything in return for his gifts except for maybe a chance to spend some alone time with you.

Sitting in solitude with you was his favorite part of any day. He loved reading with you, the library quiet except for when the two of you would talk to each other.

He watched as you energetically explained a scene in the book that you were reading and your voice sounded melodious whenever you laughed at something he said.

Eventually, reading in the library wasn’t as enjoyable if you weren’t there with him. As if a part of him was missing. He wanted to spend every moment with you. To share every line from his books with you.

The kind of love where you want to share your life with someone.

Satan was sure of it now. He had finally found the kind of love that he had been searching so relentlessly for. And it didn’t matter if you never said the three words to him that he knew you felt.

He would spend all of eternity showing his love through small acts if that’s what you wanted. As long as you knew what they truly meant.

Part I (here), Part II, Part III (COMPLETED)

Part I (here), Part II, Part III (COMPLETED)

Trey Clover vs. Azul Ashengrotto vs. Jamil Viper x GN! Reader

In which the way to the Prefect’s heart is through their stomach! At least, according to three of NRC’s students…

I got the idea from @recreyomakesdoodles , from this post! Thank you so much, hope you liked it!!💕

Tagging people I think would be interested: @aruis4nosleep , @tinseltina

Warnings: food/eating

Notes: I decided to split this into multiple parts because I never have any restraint while writing and this ended up being long. Enjoy :D

———————————————————♣️🐙🐍

“Well, I didn’t expect to see you here.”

Azul pushed his glasses up, balancing a stack of takeout boxes emblazoned with the Mostro Lounge logo on them. Cold blue eyes met Trey’s golden irises. Trey cleared his throat, shifting a heavy picnic basket from one hand to the other. “What brings you here, Azul? I thought you’d be busy at Mostro Lounge…”

Azul snorted, “the Prefect knows to expect me today. Clearly, you are the one intruding.” Earlier that week, he overheard you wailing to your friends about your upcoming History of Magic exam. Apparently, this unit was on Atlantica’s magical history - a topic that was, unfortunately, giving you trouble.

Fortunately, Azul was a mer who grew up learning the history by heart. Naturally he offered you assistance in exchange for having you taste-test some dishes. And how could he not help a poor, unfortunate fellow student like yourself?

Besides, if he wanted to bring along some personally cooked meals to Ramshackle, under the claim that you both would be there ‘for hours, so you may as well try some foods (that I made!) for the upcoming Lounge menu (that I run)!’, that was nobody’s business. And certainly not Clover’s business.

Trey crossed his arms, easily holding the heavy picnic basket like it weighed nothing. Azul could smell the buttery pastries and powdered sugar through the closed basket lid where he stood. “Riddle sent me to give the Prefect an invitation to the next Unbirthday Party. I thought I’d give them some treats to… sweeten the deal.” Though Trey had a disarmingly pleasant smile with the pun, his eyes bored into Azul’s.

Azul frowned. “That couldn’t have been more than a simple text. Aren’t they friends with your first years, as well?” He asked, remembering your first year friends that he’d turned into anemones.

Trey adjusted his glasses and averted his gaze, a telltale deflection sign that Azul didn’t miss. “Well, it’s more official coming from the Vice Housewarden.” “And I suppose the baked goods are complimentary?” Azul sniffed disdainfully at the basket, “Surely, the prefect needs more than pastries. A proper meal,” he emphasized.

Trey’s eyes narrowed, “a basket of baked goods is better than whatever deal you’d have for them,” he nodded to the boxes Azul carried. “Everyone loves a good old fashioned pastry. Can’t say the same for seafood.” Azul opened his mouth to retort, when suddenly both of their ringtones went off.

IM SO SORRY AZUL!!!!! I got caught up with something, can I come over tomorrow?? I likely won’t be done until later, the headmage has me doing stuff 😭

TREY!!! Tysm for the invite, you didn’t have to go out of ur way to give it in person!! ill definitely be there at the party! 😄 sry I’m not there atm, Crowley wanted me to do something for him

Trey frowned, reading your text. Azul huffed, shouldering the stack of food boxes, muttering “looks like today was a loss.” Trey sighed, “well, it can’t be helped…” he made a mental note to put the pastries in the Heartslabyul fridge and just deliver it to you tomorrow, under the guise of ‘checking up on you’ after working for Crowley. The two of them trudged down the path to the Hall of Mirrors, heading back to their dorms.

The two of them walked in silence until Trey abruptly said, “I don’t know what you want with the Prefect, but I hope you have their best intentions at heart.” Azul turned to give Trey a withering look, “I assure you, when it comes to the Prefect, I have nothing but good intentions.” As he stepped into Octavinelle, Azul smirked and muttered, “especially regarding their heart.” Trey lingered for a bit, staring at the Octavinelle mirror with an unreadable expression. “We’ll see about that,” he said aloud in the empty Hall, then headed back to Heartslabyul.

—•—♣️🐙🐍—•—

Meanwhile, you sighed heavily, collapsing onto the chair. The cafeteria was pretty much empty, save for the random student or two. It was already darkening outside, and you were hungry. Crowley wanted you to do something for him just before lunch, and soon half your Saturday was gone running around NRC. You’d even lost track of time, and missed Azul’s study session and Trey dropping in! You groaned, hearing your stomach growl loudly.

“Prefect? What are you doing here?”

You glanced up, seeing Jamil with a large container of tupperware and other small containers. The delicious scent of curries, labneh yogurt cheese, and freshly made pita made your mouth water. Despite yourself, Jamil caught you looking at the boxed-up food more than once.

“…Crowley had me running errands, and I may have skipped lunch…” your voice grew quiet near the end. Jamil raised an eyebrow, then smiled. “I actually ended up making too much food for Kalim,” he said, moving around the table to sit next to you. “There’s enough for an extra person, and I’ve have already eaten.”

Your eyes widened, and Jamil started dishing out some curry and flatbread for you. Bright-colored curry sauce and chickpeas flooded the platter, wafting a delicious scent. As Jamil ripped a piece of pita, your stomach growl loudly. Your face felt warm. Jamil only chuckled, pushing the plate he’d conjured towards you. “What about Kalim?” You asked, feeling bad. Jamil smiled, “Please, go ahead. There’s enough for Kalim and you.” A warm smile grew on your face, and you gave Jamil a one-sided hug before digging in. “Thank you! You’re my savior!”

As he watched you eat, a tender look grew on Jamil’s face. He shifted the food containers so he could watch you while nibbling on some flatbread. It wasn’t difficult to determine that you were off on Crowley’s whims again - with you running around the school and being gone for several hours. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be anyone’s fault if he accidentally made too much food, so he thought he’d drop it off at Ramshackle later. It was sheer luck that you’d dropped by the cafeteria!

You hummed, soaking up some of the leftover curry sauce with your flatbread, “this was delicious, Jamil. Thank you so much.”

Jamil smiled genuinely, but a devious look came into his eyes when you looked back at your plate. “Please, Prefect, allow me. Wait here.” He took the plate, going to the kitchens to box up some food for you to take back. Walking back to you, he handed you the container, “It’s getting late, I can walk you back to Ramshackle.”

The two of you set off, with you holding some of Jamil’s boxes. “This was… really sweet of you, Jamil,” you smiled. You knew Jamil always had his hands full, whether it was taking care of Kalim or managing literally everything else. Maybe the food was making you gush, but you were definitely grateful for the impromptu meal. As you opened the door to Ramshackle, you gingerly handed the boxes back to him.

“Ah, wait,” he shuffled them and held a large one out to you. “This one is yours.” Your eyes widened, “Jamil, this is a lot-“ “Please.” Your eyes met his dark grey irises, and warm gratitude filled your chest. “Jamil, I… I really don’t know what to say. I have to repay you somehow-“ Now that was what he wanted to hear.

“You know, I’ve been meaning to try making some new dishes,” he glanced at you. “I’ve been needing someone to taste test them, and Kalim won’t be available…” You nodded eagerly, “Of course! I’d love to help you!” You said your goodbyes, and as the door shut behind you, Jamil had a calculating smirk on his face. Oh yeah, it’s all coming together.
