Children of the Stars II: Meteor Shower

Midnight once again,

In the cold of my room,

My home is a hundred miles away,

And I can hear the rhythmic heartbeat of the ocean

Ebbing and flowing across the beach,

Crashing down on the sand only to retreat once more,

Over and over and over and

I can’t sleep.

So I go outside,

Pull out a chair,

And put a blanket over me,

For the night air is cold,

and I look up,

The sky is clearer,

But they aren’t there

And then the stars start to fall

Blue, pink, yellow, gray,

It doesn’t matter as the colors blur into

Strands of light arcing across the sky

Crashing falling burning

Into the beach before me

I get up, and sprint down there,

But the colors fade,

Leaving a simple note.

Look up

And I do,

And I see them.
