okay, mister master of fear scarecrow. humor me for a second. i'm tired of trying to carry on. i've been told for years that things will be better but there's never been a "better" in sight. i don't know what else there is left for me cause i'm just an all around bad person. all i ask of you is that you give me a hug. you don't have to if you don't want to, of course. hell, you can inject me with whatever weird chemicals you have lying around. i've always sympathized with you a lot. thanks

I felt this deserves an immediate answer above all else, and I hope it is of some sort of use and help to you, Anon. This is a very difficult subject, and I will try my best to answer without being commanding or giving some half-hearted "just try to be happy" nonsense. I cannot, in good consciousness, assume whatever you are dealing with at this moment, or diagnose you with some mental condition such as depression or anxiety. All I can honestly do is give anecdotal advice, and hope you conquer the pain you are dealing with. I do not want to say that it is going to get better, but rather that it can get better. 

There are many things outside of our control that are not for certain, many of which affect us directly, and which make it excruciatingly difficult to continue life with any hope or sense of purpose at all. These things can be civil unrest, to uncaring strangers on the internet or passing you by in your day to day, to even the chemistry of our minds that we can hardly begin to understand. These things, especially the latter, are not our fault.

I cannot say that I truly understand what you are dealing with, but your words were all too familiar. Feeling as if you are an inherently bad person. Our reasons are probably different, but I at least understand the statement. I am not sure if anyone has told you this before, but I will say it just in case… You are not a bad person. You are a human being, a living, breathing human being, capable of making mistakes as everyone else on this planet is. You are not bad, or broken, or without purpose or value. 

Now, to find whatever is left, or hopefully a purpose… For me, it is my faith. It has kept me going, but I am not going to assume you are religious or not, so I am not going to center this response on that. However, there are other things I might try to suggest. If you can think of a project, an artform, anything you could work on for a long term, no matter your skills or "popularity," really consider it. If you even have the slightest consideration to make something, go full force. Start with little things, small daily activities along a longer goal that has no stress. The key is to do it for yourself, and not for the satisfaction of others. 

And on the greater scale, do not feel frightened of seeking help. This does not make you weak. On the contrary, it makes you stronger. Whether this is counseling, a medication, or simply expressing to whoever is closest to you that you need and want to live better, it is the gateway to betterment. 

The world is not the master of your life; you are, and you are much greater than you might think. I pray you find peace and joy, and that you beat your struggles.
