You giggle to yourself as you watch your boyfriend dance along to the song that was playing while chopping vegetables. Jake had insisted on making dinner for you tonight but after some negotiating you finally got him to let you help.

Now here you were stirring a pot on the stove while all of your shared favorite songs filled the kitchen. The next song began to play and it was one you didn’t recognize.

“Jakey, what’s this song?”

He places his hand over his heart and looks truly hurt. “I sent you this a couple days ago because it made me think of you! Are you telling me you never listened to it?” He gave you those puppy dog eyes and you immediately felt bad.

“I meant to!” You tried to defend yourself. “I just was busy at work when you sent it and then I sort of forgot about it after that.” You look back at the sauce you’re stirring to avoid his eyes.

“Well y/n, I guess you’ll just have to listen to it now…” he walks over to his phone to restart the song. “…. And dance with me.” he holds out his hand towards you.

“But the sauce! It’s gonna burn”

He turns the stove off and moves the pot off of the hot burner. “Problem solved. Now just give me 3 minutes and 53 seconds of your time. You won’t regret it I promise” he winks at you and you can’t help but give in.

Suddenly you’re dancing around the kitchen in the arms of the boy of your dreams while jake sings quietly along with the song.

I’ve heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime, and I’m pretty sure that you are that love of mine.

Cause I’m in a field of dandelions, wishing on every one that you’ll be mine.

And I see forever in your eyes, I feel okay when I see you smile.

He looks you straight in the eyes as he sings these words, making your heart skip a beat just like the first time you ever saw him.

He rests his forehead against yours as the rest of the song plays and it feels like you are the only two people in the entire universe.

As the song ends, he places a kiss on your forehead and goes back to the cutting board as a new song starts playing from the speaker.

“That should be our song” he states as he eyes your form that hasn’t moved from the center of the kitchen yet. “Then we can dance to it at our wedding and tell our kids how mommy realized she loved daddy after hearing it at 6 pm on a random tuesday.”

You snap back to reality at the sound of his crazy plans. “That’s a lot of theoreticals”

You ignore his gaze as you return your pot to the burner. “Who says that’s what happened?”

When you don’t hear a cheeky response, you turn to look for him only to feel a pair of arms snake around your waist from behind as his chin comes to rest on your shoulder.

“Well that’s what happened to me, except that it was about 2 pm on a random Thursday to be exact when I realized how in love I am with you”

You instantly turn around in his arms to be met with a smile on his face and zero uncertainty in his eyes. As you thought about everything you felt for jake you realized you felt comfortable, you felt safe, you felt loved, you felt at home in his arms. He is your home.

“We might have to tell the kids mommy told daddy she loved him at 6:15 pm on a random tuesday” you smiled as his eyes glanced at the clock behind you and widened in realization.

You stood on your tiptoes to kiss the smile forming on his lips.

“I love you jake sim. You are my once in a lifetime love, and I will love you for the rest of this lifetime and every one after”

he's scared he's met someone who can potentially break through his icy walls, much like the others did

it's bitterly alarming at first, but you just have to show him you aren't like that

and so you do just that, you tell him you'll wait for him, and you understand that he's still healing

it's such a breath of fresh air for sunghoon, to have someone like you around

the L word, that he had previously thought could only bring him pain

but he just had misconceptions of it

because this is love, what he has with you
