Namjoon - Two words: Family. Man. He’s a mature leader, would be a great husband, and we know he wants to be a dad more than anything.

Jin - As the oldest and most “traditional” or “conservative,” it just makes sense that he would want to get married sooner than the other members.

Taehyung - Another family man. Tae loves kids so much and wants to have a big family, I can see him not hesitating to propose when he knows you’re the right person for him.

Hoseok - Going with the age factor again, I think Hobi would fall somewhere in the middle. He’d probably get married before most of the maknae line, but I think he’d have a long engagement and wait a few years before having kids. He would just enjoy being engaged/married to you for a while.

Yoongi - So the perception is that this man is married to his career, but I don’t think that’s entirely true. Sure, marriage is not at the forefront of his mind, but I think he’s open to it. And he’s aware that he’s getting older, so I can see him wanting to get married and start a family with you sooner than later.

Jimin - Jimin, Jimin, Jimin. Our boy is a flirt. He’s young and carefree and likes to have fun. But he also has so much love to give. He’ll definitely get married, but later, after he’s aged a bit more.

Jungkook - Baby boy is in no hurry to get married. I think he’s well-aware of his inexperience and wants to mature more before entering into a long-term relationship. He’s also at the height of his career with nowhere to go but up, so I expect him to continue to strive for his dreams for quite a while before he’s ready to settle down.

Taehyung - Tae is the kind of man who would propose in front of the Eiffel Tower at sunset. You’d think you were on a private vacation, just the two of you, but he’d arrange for all your closest friends and family to show up holding signs saying, “Will you marry me?” You’d tearfully accept, and as you kissed him, fireworks would illuminate the twilight sky.

Hoseok - Hobi’s proposal would be as big and loud as his personality. I’m thinking a flash mob to your favorite song (featuring all the boys as backup dancers, of course), and his ending pose would be him down on one knee, presenting you with a ring. The only thing brighter than his smile would be the smile on your face.

Jungkook - Okay, hear me out: JK is shy and private - but he’s also super competitive. He would definitely feel the need to do something as impressive as his hyungs. He would also want to take every opportunity to show you how much you mean to him. I imagine he’s the one that would pull you up onstage during a concert to propose, and would probably have ARMY help somehow (maybe by singing or chanting when he gives the cue). There wouldn’t be a dry eye in the stadium.

Jin - So Jin would for sure do something really romantic and elaborate, but not public. Maybe a scavenger hunt? And all the clues would take you to places that were special to the both of you or be gifts you gave each other or be mementos from all the good times you shared. Then when you reached the end there would be flowers and candles all set up. He’d get down on one knee and he’d have a speech prepared and it would be both sincere and light-hearted, and you’d want to say “no” just to mess with him but all you could say would be, “Yes, yes, yes!”

Jimin - I feel like Jimin could go either way. I can see him doing something flashy, but I can also see him asking impulsively if he gets caught up in the moment. Maybe you’re jewelry shopping together - not even looking at rings, just bracelets and necklaces and stuff - and he notices the engagement ring section. So he asks you which one you like and you humor him, thinking he’s just goofing around. But then he tells the salesperson he’ll take the ring and you’re shocked as he kneels down right there in the store and asks you to marry him because he loves you so much he can’t go another day not being engaged to you.

Namjoon - So I think Namjoon would keep things low-key and private, but still make it special. He’d be the one to recreate your first date, down to the last detail. You’d hike the same trail you first hiked together, sharing jelly candies just like you did on your first date, and when you reached the top of the mountain, you’d have a picnic lunch. Over lunch, he’d initiate a deep conversation about the future and your mutual hopes and dreams, before finally pulling out a ring and explaining the wonderful future he wanted to share with you.

Yoongi - I have a hard time imagining Yoongi doing anything grandiose. He might write a song for you and (very nonchalantly) propose that way, but I really think he would be the kind to just blurt out, “Let’s get married,” while you’re snuggling in bed one lazy morning. And it might seem like a spur-of-the-moment decision, but really, he’s been thinking long and hard about it for a while and he’s absolutely sure he wants to marry you. He just didn’t know when or how to propose. But as you lay there in his arms, he would think about how much he never wants to let you go, and he would decide to just ask. And you of course would say “yes,” not even caring that he didn’t have a ring for you yet.

A few days later, you have your monthly appointment with your psychologist, and you tell her all about your adventure with Jungkook.

“So let me get this straight,” Your therapist says, “This guy is handsome?” 

“Very.” You reply.

“And he’s sensitive and a good listener.”

“That’s right.” 

“And he’s talented and a hard worker, with dreams and aspirations.”

“Correct.” 

“And he saved an old man’s life by offering himself as a hostage.” 

“Also correct.” You agree. 

“But when he asked you out on a date, you turned him down because...?” 

You shrug.

“I guess I'm just picky.” 

“Perhaps.” Your therapist raises an eyebrow. “Or perhaps you’re crazy.”

There’s a long silence after that, and your therapist scribbles some notes on her pad, mumbling something under her breath about you being an idiot.

Pastel ribbons and light balloons danced around you, just the saccharine scent of cake lingered within your nostrils.

To most others, the mere notion of the merriment of your surroundings would elevate their heart rate and spin their head with excitement.

You were sure you would be amongst them as well, if it wasn't for the trance the male before you had placed you under.

Even in the midst of the expensive perfumes and meticulously designed shoes each of the boys had so generously showered you within- he was all you could think of.

It was all your heart could bear, just grazing his fingers as he offered you a forkful of his own cake after you had both snuffed out the candles.

Even as the melodious voices surrounded you to wish both you and Hoseok simply the best of wishes for your new ages; your heart fluttered only at the decreasing proximity of your birthday partner.

For so long, you shared each birthday with his beaming smile. The sight alone enveloped you within it's warmth that burned brighter than the very candles placed upon the frosting of your cake- which was halved between your most beloved flavours, just as it always had been.

And that was the only issue you grieved over.

Year after year passed you by, and your relationship remained the same. Your heart still beat its same fluttery drum at his same smile; and you silenced the same feelings for your friend.

You dreamed the same reveries of kissing him at last just as you had returned to the same fantasy of meeting his lips over your dainty cake.

You pondered a taste of the frosting from his tongue and wondered if he made the nibble sweeter just as he had done with your life.

"What did you wish for (Y/n)?" The voice you adored so much trickled over your ears to send a pleasurable shiver down your flesh.

Your eyes rose above the delicate trails of decorations to find his head had fallen to the side and your heart nearly stilled at how adorably he resembled a mere puppy whom had followed you home.

You wished so desperately to confess right then with a simple, breathless, You. But the burdensome fears of rejection hushed you harshly.

"The same as last year- or pretty much every year before."

You feigned a sweet smile to conceal the throbbing ache of your heart that simply grew heavier with the shine of curiosity he obtained for the childish act.

His brows then raised at your dedication to the very same wish that had followed you into adulthood and his lips bowed to reveal the smile which had rendered you sleepless many nights.

"It must be something you truly want with all of your being." He acknowledged, praying you hadn't noticed just how easily you had intrigued him or how his smile fell at the fear of you wishing for a love he couldn't give as your best friend.

You forced a soft huff of amusement through your nostrils and your finger languidly traced along the discarded bow that had once hugged your present.

"You have no idea, Sunshine."

He visibly shuttered in content at the sound of the pet name you attached to him since your lives had first intertwined; never did it quite have the same effect on him when it was called by any other than you.

Yet, even as he lavished every moment of your interactions. Your teasings had rose his excitement, until he just had to know of your heart's desire.

"Tell me." He suddenly demanded whilst he released the string around his finger, to allow the blushing balloon he held to take to the air.

The breath from your lungs dissipated as his dark eyes flickered to yours. Your heart pounded at the notion of revealing your deepest secret.

"W-what?"

Your lips gaped whilst your body trembled when he inched just a little closer and his fingers bashfully met the tips of your own.

"Tell me what you wish for the most." He repeated his words, only this time, an innocent pleading laced his voice- like a small child begging for just another bite of dessert. "I promise not to tell."

Your stomach flipped at just how cute your love could be, with glistening puppy eyes and an irresistible pout daintily placed upon his mouth. It was almost impossible to deny him.

Your undeniable love for him rushed over the insecure whispers of rejection like an ocean's waves until the words bubbled from your throat.

"I wished for you, Hoseok."

You winced at your confession once it had strung between you both- never to be taken back.

With an aching chest, you could only think of how dreadful it would be to remember your birthdays each year with the sting of unrequited love to accompany you.

But as your eyes fell from his, not one scoff or word of disgust fell upon your ears- it was simply silent.

An apology edged the tip of your tongue but was quickly silenced by a slender finger gently pushing your chin forward, to lock your eyes together.

A bright smile pulled at his lips as he beamed before you, and your heart melted as if you were simply the earth admiring the sun your life so crucially revolved around.

"I wished for your kiss."

His soft laughter chimed within your ears like a beautiful symphony to drown the world around you in your infatuation for him.

Your every thought fell upon him until he was all you could fathom and the words escaped once more.

"Then I suppose I have one last gift to give the birthday boy."

Your whisper drew your bodies closer until your lips met. The taste of strawberry frosting bursted over your taste buds with every flick of his tongue.

And you were delighted to find he truly did make the treat even sweeter as he devoured your lips.

But once the sweet kiss melted away, he pressed his lips against your ticklish skin and elicited your joyous giggles.

"Hobi? What are you doing?" You grinned up at his innocent expression.

His teeth tenderly nipped the lobe of your ear and he tugged you flush against his chest.

"I'm giving you a kiss for every birthday I missed your lips." He simply replied before he attacked your jaw in a series of kisses you couldn't help but bask within.

In the arms of your greatest gift of all, your heart was content with your wish that had come true at last.
