The Surviving Characters Of The Previously-mentioned Game Of Apocalypse World Were (the Erroneously Named)

The surviving characters of the previously-mentioned game of Apocalypse World were (the erroneously named) Mr. Foster - our Faceless - and Adnan, our Savvyhead. I like to think that they survived, wandering the wastes and having adventures. Only because Mr. Foster is a recovering Faceless, wacky (mostly murderous) hijinks ensue. I have a few comics I've had rattling around in my head. This is inspired by the pronoun difficulty that Mr. Foster inspired.

I'm sitting next to a stack of Sailor Moon manga that I intend to skim over lunch. So I guess that Fall of the Silver Imperium hack of Thou Art But A Warrior is probably going to happen.

But not until after SexyTime Adventures. Because, c'mon.

Performing ridiculous masculinity?

I threw out this question on Google+, but I thought I'd post here too. So in STA, all female adventurers have the following special moves: Sexy Fu Once per combat, you may choose to re-roll any die by choosing to do one of the following: Narrate how your character is attacking the enemy from a boobs-and-butt stance while making your best attempt to demonstrate that pose. (No cheating now. Make an honest effort.) Or: Narrate how your character is attacking the enemy while you, the player, make Inappropriate Pornface. (Again, no cheating.) Too Hot to Fail Once per session, you may choose to re-roll any die rolled as part of a social interaction with NPCs. Make your best case for why they should do what you want, then describe how circumstances are contriving to make your character look particularly sexy. (No “my boobs are big” or “my hair looks great”. Try for descriptions that might be found in a romance novel or slashfic.) ---- In the current version, The Dude (because there is only one male adventurer per campaign) does not have an equivalent special move. I am, however, re-thinking that. So what can I have The Dude's player do that would play up ridiculous performance of masculinity? Junk thrusting? Ridiculous flexing? Help me out! The more over-the-top, the better!

I'm finally finished with all but one of my freelance projects! Hurrah! Which means its time to turn my attention back to other projects - my own! I'm currently putting some polish on my crazy Dungeon World hack - SexyTime Adventures, ("SexyTime Adventures: the RPG - a game where the men are men and the women are sexy") since the hope is to maybe playtest it at GenCon.

I'd honestly forgotten how funny some of what I'd written was. For instance, the Cleric description, which is intended to go with the above sketch:

Others may be ambivalent in their faith, worshipping whichever god in the pantheon most serves their needs in the moment. Some have no faith at all, citing the existence of monsters, demons, and war as proof that there are no gods. But you, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a god, and that god has touched you deep in your soul. Your bosomy, voluptuous soul.

You have been called to bring faith to a faithless world, to smash down the unrighteous and stand triumphantly over them without any pants on. For pants are the work of the devil. So sayeth the lord.

So expect some updates in the next little while as I amuse myself by working on this.

My reaction to the announcement of Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor was mainly one of disappointment. Peter Capaldi is a terrific actor, of course, but he's yet another straight white dude. And, you know, I'm sure he'll do a good job, and I'm sure I will watch and like his tenure as the Doctor. Like I said, he's a great actor.

I just feel like an opportunity has been missed to tell stories about a hero that isn't yet another straight white dude. Because our whole damn culture revolves around telling the stories of straight white dudes. How amazing would it have been to have a character like the Doctor regenerate into a form that isn't straight, white, and male? SO AMAZING.

(And yes I know that Helen Mirren doesn't want to play the Doctor. It doesn't change the fact that she's amazing and would have been amazing. Also, who does sad eyes better than Idris Elba? No one, that's who.)

This past weekend I was lucky enough to go to GenCon. Among the many, amazing games that I got to play, I was lucky enough to participate in a long-form game of Apocalypse World, which is only the best tabletop roleplaying game in the history of forever. Yes, better than mine, by a factor of one million.

This game gave me, like, all the feels. So I might be bombarding you with drawings that I haven't been able to get out of my head, over the next little while. I also took a lot of photos, of things both good and bad, and might post links to my blogging exploits elsewhere. Sadly, a playtest of SexyTime Adventures did not happen. But that's okay. You can't have everything.
