My problem is that the fans don't really spend time exploring the text and context of Stranger Things and just run wild with memes, stupid theories and shipping nonsense. The discussion doesn't seem to run deeper than the subjects of Eleven being a fragile broken soul who needs a dad and a boyfriend and high school, omg feels over Hopper's daughter's hair elastic and who The American is.
I miss the drama, insane derailment and twists of seasons 1 and 2 and just the overall vagueness of what was going on. I was pretty bored with how linear and obvious S3's plot was in an effort to keep the fans that need everything explained to them. I'm a little worried that ST is becoming wacky and flanderized to placate the Twitter and Reddit trash.
Hot take: Stranger Things is good but the fans suck
I like the show. It’s a good premise and is very interesting. But the fans took it too far. Especially the ones I knew personally. And those people did bad things to me which has made me lose my love of the show a little. I can’t watch it without thinking about them. They made that show their entire personalities and then hurt me in ways I don’t like to think about. I do still like the show. I like the characters. But it’s lost some of its sparkle to me because of them
And just like most Stephen King novels, Stranger Things will either have a rushed or deflated ending because the writing team ran out of ideas.
Y’all REALLY need to stop getting your hopes up for ST4.
It’s going to be disappointing as hell and sloppily written to fit in their giant 80’s wet dream of Stephen King cumming all over their content because they’re such big sluts for ripping his shit off just like the last two seasons. If they had killed off Joe like they had originally planned, honest to god, I wouldn’t be here still.
Last season I stayed to see Billy die because I knew that was going to happen. People liked the idea of Billy being gay and the Duffers are so deeply closeted in their desire to be double fisted by Spielberg that they were too worried about making sure Billy didn’t seem gay that they forgot season 3 relied on some kind of background for him so his death wasn’t entirely meaningless, right? NO. THEY HAD TO COVER UP THE GAY OH MY GOD WERE SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE JOHN CARPENTER WE HAVE TO HAVE TONS OF SEXUALITY IN HERE BUT NOT THE GAY KIND BUT DONT BE HOMOPHOBIC HERE HAVE A RANDOM LESBIAN DONT LOOK AT THE PLOT HOLES DONT TRY TO MAKE THIS SHOW MAKE SENSE so make sure the married mother of three gets 85% of the way to cheating on her husband with teenager and has to ask another mom to watch her child while she goes to flirt with said (gay) teenager. So his arc went, asshole, asshole, asshole, flirts with Steve while alone and naked in a shower, asshole, daddy slaps him, breaks Steve’s pretty face while literally sitting on his cock, asshole with no explanation, asshole with no explanation, asshole with no explanation, asshole with no explanation, possessed, asshole with no explanation, asshole with no explanation, hardworking possessed asshole, asshole with no explanation, asshole with no explanation, asshole with no explanation... sacrifices himself for a girl he met for 45 seconds and knows only by one letter? Dead.
And don’t even get me started on character development (where? Other than Steve, please tell me which character actually gets an arc that makes sense for them based on what was seen in season 1? Poor Will doesn’t even get one) fuck the duffers, dude. Honestly. Just fuck them. I’ve read fanfiction of every ship in this show and 95% of them are better than the show and the other 5% I will assume are better but are in a language I can’t read.
Is it just me or is Matthew Modine now incapable of turning off "Dr. Brenner Mode" in every role he's played post-2016? He didn't use the "Brenner Voice" in films he was in prior to Stranger Things.
I found it really distracting in Miss Virginia.
Stranger Things 4: Eleven Is Really Tired of Your Shit
El and Max watch Vision Quest and El gets really weirded out.
do y’all ever think that Joyce Byers watched Heathers or Beetlejuice or something and just went “huh”
