i don't have DID so maybe this is a huge overstep on my part but the way i see it so much of the anti-"endo" stuff makes extremely little sense in that. ok you have this disorder that is famous for causing memory loss and the compartmentalization of trauma, i.e. people with DID tend to not remember their trauma, as like a core part of the disorder. so if you see someone presenting with all the symptoms of DID but claiming not to have any trauma as far as they remember, why would your first thought be "attention seeking faker" and not "that person probably isn't ready to unpack their traumatic memories; guess i'll leave them alone until they're ready to engage"

America has a weird relationship with cults where they’re terrified of small cults (or organizations they think are cults) but completely normalized massive cults that hurt many more people (eg: LDS Church, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Amish, Scientology, most Megachurches)
