Eleventh in DOCTOR WHO ‘The Bells of Saint John’
Crash and burn
tenth doctor x fem!reader
Summary: The Doctor tries to teach reader how to fly the tardis. 'tries' being the operative word.
fluff, fun and chaos all in one!

"Look, everything's going to be fine!" Y/n stated, though at that moment she pulled a little too hard on the leaver, causing it to snap from the console and lay futile in her hand.
Donna cringed from where she had been watching in amuesment on the pilot seat while the Doctor's jaw dropped, absoloutely flabbergasted at what had just unfolded.
"Oops." Y/n grimaced before nonchalantly chucking it over her shoulder. She shrugged then added, carelessly: "Hope that wasn't important."
The Doctor scoffed, taking long strides to reach Y/n but to no avail as she backed away quicker, hands pressing down on random buttons with a grin.
"No!" He protested, trying to swat her hands away from the console. "Nope! Never mind! This was, evidently, a very bad idea! Step away from the console - Y/n don't press that button!"
Y/n's hand hovered over the big red button, before she rolled her eyes at the panic on the Doctor's face and retreated. "As if I would. Who else, but you, is stupid enough to press a red button."
At her words, Donna snorted, resulting in the Doctor spinning on his heel with an offended expression. "Hey!"
"Sorry," Donna apologised, though with less conviction when she attempted to muffle her giggles with her hand. "But is she wrong?"
He merely grunted in response, rotating his head back to look at Y/n, who was leaning her elbows on the console with a small smile on her lips. "I'm sorry. I was just messing. Ready to learn now. Promise."
He pouted like a petulant child, arms crossing over his chest. "Really?"
Y/n chuckled, stalking over to him and rubbing her thumb on his cheek, admiring the pink tint that soon followed. "Really." She nodded, pressing a quick peck to his lips, then laughing lightly at the smile of his own forming, despite his best efforts.
"Eugh, do you have to?!" Donna complained from afar. "Thought we had a rule about PDA on the tardis."
"Sorry, Donna." They both muttered in unison. Though the Doctor's hand lingered on Y/n's, and he held it with a light grip whilst swaying it back and forth, his eyes shining at her laughter.
"Come on."He instructed softly, leading her to the console once more.
At this Y/n dramatically gasped, shoving her hands in the air and she asked mockingly. "You sure you trust me enough, Mr-touch-one-wrong-button-and-the-world-will-implode?"
He just laughed, shaking his head fondly. "Oh, just shut up and drive."
Donna clicked her fingers, excitedly. "Rhianna!" She said, smiling wide. Though it faltered at the the incredulous looks she was receiving from the Doctor and Y/n. "Shut up and drive?" She continued, voice sounding unsure now. When their faces didn't change, the redhead just rolled her eyes before dismissing them. "Never mind."
The Doctor eyed her for a few seconds, giving her a dubious look. "Anyway!" He changed the subject, turning back to Y/n with a cheeky grin. "Ready to fly?"
Y/n clicked her tongue, offering a smug smile. "Oh, I was born ready."
"Aha! Where'd you want to go?"
"Donna?" Y/n looked at her friend, who shrugged her shoulders, showing that she had no preference. "Hmm.." She deliberated until clapping her hands gleefully, presenting she had made a decision to the timelord and Donna. "let's go to space florida!"
"Yeah?" The Doctor asked, a little disappointed. He wanted to go somewhere there was adventure, not for a relaxing trip. Upon seeing her mind made up, he just sighed. "Alright," he mumbled, yet he soon perked up when he realised he was going to teach her how to fly. "Right! Pull that leaver, first!"
"This one?" Y/n asked, hand wrapping around the blue leaver. When he nodded, she smiled wide. "Allonsy!" She shouted, smugly.
The Doctor gaped at her. "Oi! That's my lin-oop" His protests were cut short as the console erupted in flames and the tardis shook with force, pushing donna from her seat as the Doctor rushed to cover Y/n.
"What did you do?" He asked in a high voice, all three of them sat on the shaky ground.
"ME?" Y/n countered, pointedly. "I did what you told me to!"
"God, spaceman. Don't you need to pass a test or something to fly this? Or at least to teach someone else how to fly it?" Donna accused, coughing at the smoke.
The Doctor grimaced a little, then admitted sheepishly. "Yeah, and I failed." His two companions sent him cynical looks. He feigned innocence. "What?"
Small Town (11th Doctor x Reader) - Part 1
Summary: What goes on in a small town has to stay in a small town. You and the Doctor check out a small town and now you can't leave. Count: 2k Warnings: unreality, self gaslighting A/N: Maybe if i post this I can bully myself into finishing it lmao who knows? -L

“So we’re investigating today?” You questioned as you walked into the console room, seeing it was set up in a way so the doctor could stare at most of the controls and look at the monitor intensely through his glasses, as he mumbled something about the information he was examining.
“Yes we are, just trying to get the exact coordinates, time gets weird around here, some kind of temporal anomaly” The Doctor grumbled, pointing vaguely at the monitor before adjusting a few more dials and switches, “I think I’ve got it!” he exclaimed, throwing off his glasses and running to the TARDIS doors and flinging them open. You trailed behind, wrapping a jacket around your arms to protect from the potential cold. You were above a small town, somewhere in America if you had to guess, but all the states blurred together and high up, cities always looked vaguely similar. Suspended you both stood, watching the world tick by.
“So, what we do know,” The Doctor began, staring out over the oblivious world, “there was town, gone for close to a month, no contact in or out excluding military communications. Weird energy signatures, freak weather, electromagnetic pulses, nightmares and weird happenings. And one day it stopped. Some say it was a witch, others say some weird government test and a handful even say aliens. So we’re going to find out, and try and help,” He smiled the last part
“That's what we do,” You returned the smile.
After a while of watching and waiting out of the corner of your eye you spotted it, a massive red and black pulse. Electrical? No it couldn’t be. It looked fierce and magical, but nothing like the fairytale magic in the books you read as a child.
“There!” You almost shouted, pointing. It wasn’t slowing down. It was speeding up.
“Hold on to something! Keep a lookout” You heard the doctor shout, as he ran back to the machine, punching random buttons and flicking random switches in an attempt to hold the ship in place, despite it already shifting under the weight of the barrier edging closer
“It’s not slowing down” You almost screamed from the door, clinging to the handrails in desperation
“I know, I wasn’t trying to slow it, I was trying to keep us from moving but it's too strong. Who knows where we’ll end up or what’ll happen,” He pressed more buttons in a futile attempt, before giving up and racing towards you, “Better we face it together,” He smiled, grabbing your hand and pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
You squeezed his hand almost like a sign you were ready “Together,”
And with that you both stepped from the ship, falling into the pulse.
Your eyes snapped open. Another bad dream, you always woke up before you hit the floor. They’d been happening frequently and showed no sign of stopping, perhaps one day you’d realise what had happened as the floor came closer. Your husband snored gently next to you, his sharp chin pressed into your forehead. The clock next to you read 7:30, 25rd October 1954 , that meant for you it was time to wake up and get some breakfast ready. You appeared downstairs and started cooking, seemingly it was done almost as quick as it had begun, at least you were getting quicker you thought to yourself. Your husband, John, came down the stairs fully dressed for work muttering something about the car having issues, and needing to get some circuit in it fixed. “Thank you for the meal, my love,” John thanked as he adjusted his bowtie and took a sip of his freshly-made drink. You didn’t remember making it. You frowned and he saw it.
“How’s your head?” He asked noticing
“Well, I haven’t had any complaints,” You giggled, And that’s when you heard it. Laughter. It wasn’t even that funny. Canned laughter. Studio audience level laughter. You didn’t even think it was a funny joke. There was a pause for it to die down.
“Darling I think we should invite that new couple that moved in,” He pondered aloud “I just think it would be nice, new neighbours make some friends,”
“Yeah I mean we have been living here… living here, how long?” You asked rhetorically at first but at one point or another during the sentence you realised you didn’t actually have an answer. More laughter.
“Well, you know… you know,” John said, wandering through the sentence, fiddling with his bowtie of choice for the day, clearly as unsure as you were “you know what? I’m going to be late for work,” He stood up quickly staring at his watch, finishing the final bite of his breakfast.
“Have a good day at work, my love,” you shouted to him, as you heard the door swing shut. He was a Doctor, local hospital, taking care of people was always something he prioritised. Long days and long nights were common, time seeming to slip away from you both. Clocks never seemed right, some too fast, others too slow. You were at your own pace and it was a familiar and comforting feeling.
At some point during the day you found yourself in the park. Something felt off. Not alarmingly, not a gut punching sense of anxiety, just out of place. The Sun seemed too bright for the time of day maybe.
What time was it again? 2pm. But that couldn’t be right, you’d left the house at half 11, seemingly 20 minutes ago. You chalked it up to being lost in your reading, a mere quirk of habit. As you examined it, the pages were empty, void of information. Looking up assuming it was some trick of your half asleep mind you shook your head, as the words shifted back onto the page with a breakneck speed. You spotted your new neighbours from across the park, you collected your things and sauntered over. They were talking about something you couldn’t quite make out when you gave them a wave and they stopped, smiled and welcomed you into the conversation. The laughter rang again, this time it seemingly felt normal, a quiet comfort in the almost now familiar situation.
“Hi my name’s Y/N, I noticed you moved in about a week ago, on our street. My Husband and I live at number 11,” You explained with a smile.
“Oh Hi! This is Augustus and I’m Elizbeth, Bee for short,” He smile was warm and welcoming. She was a relatively small woman, long blonde hair curled in whichever way it pleased, her eyes were a soft blue colour almost matching the sky.
“I hate it when you use my full name, I prefer Gus,” The man rolled his eyes jokingly before extending his hand out to you which you shook. You briefly chatted about your time in the neighbourhood, and your husband. Gus and Bee were invited to dinner at your house that evening.
As you wandered the streets of Amberpoint, the world seemed to still. It was a quiet comfort, and when the light hit the glass just right, it lived up to its name. You reflected on your life, your travels and how it felt like you were travelling to distant worlds sometimes, and maybe in a way you were. Amberpoint was small, no more than 5,000. Hundreds of matching brickwork houses, how had you ended up here? Settling for suburbia never sat in your plans, but as you thought through scatters of memories, maybe it didn’t matter, maybe you just were supposed to be there. Maybe sometimes you end up where you need to be by accident.
Your home was uncharacteristically silent. A cautionary hello was shouted by. A non-committal noise sounded from the garage. There John was sat tinkering with some gadget, screwdrivers and tiny spanners, thrown in by the handful for good measure.
“How was work dear?” You asked, not daring to question the smoke now gently leaking from the item.
“Fine, empty office today, they let me come home early, no appointments other than Mr Reed’s eyes and you know how those go,”
You didn’t, but coughed up a half laugh anyway. “That couple from 17 are coming over tonight, like you suggested so please keep your gadgets and gizmos away from dinner,” You frowned, turning on your heel and exiting the room. Cue laughter.
Dinner prep was relatively easy, you’d fought monsters on other planets, with nothing but a sonic screwdriver and a blue box. No. No, you hadn’t. You’d fought hard against Mandy Cunningham for those test scores in your exams even with that broken arm, how hard could meal prep for four people go. They arrived and took their seats. Bee smiled and offered you a hand in the kitchen so John and Gus could get to know each other. Bee seemed to smile in a way you hadn’t imagined a person could. It was bright, and seemed almost like it could be turned on and off like a tap. Like a command, or a magic trick. Her hair fell down to her hips, it never seemed out of place, even with the length, not a tangle in sight. Her dress was yellow, at some point through the cooking she’d informed you it was her favourite colour, with a joke about honey bees. That stage smile, taking front and centre.
The meal was going well, not that it wouldn’t have. But in the light of your dining room you noticed how pale Gus looked, almost sickly, light sweat brushed his forehead. Your husband had noticed “You alright old chap?” Your husband said to him at one point
“Yeah, I’m absolutely fine, never better,” He hummed in between bites of food. And despite your insistence and wanting to feel normal around your neighbours, John got up and wandered over to the garage and pulled out one of his contraptions from an old box of his. “So this should help stabilise the headache you’re no good at hiding. I am a Doctor after all,” He mumbled to Gus. John flicked a switch and waited, a loud sound poured from the machine and the world seemed to shift slightly. Like the reminder that the world is on an axis. A gut feeling that the world is not wholly the way you perceive it. A rush of memories and feeling flashed for a brief second before retreating, seemingly as if it hadn’t happened at all. Fleeing anytime you decided to cling to them, as the machine collapsed into cartoon-like pieces. You blinked and with that the memories had never happened. What were you thinking about again?
“Hm,” John frowned “That shouldn’t have happened,”
“John fancies himself as somewhat of an inventor, because apparently saving people’s lives isn’t enough to cram into 24 hours,” You explained with a nervous laugh and a few apologies thrown in.
The remainder of dinner passed relatively uneventfully. Simple small talk, how long you’d lived there John pulling a number from thin air. They left with a hug and smile. You and your husband collapsed on the sofa, worn out from the day.
“So dinner parties, hey, we don’t do too badly,” He smiled wrapping his arm around you
“I think everything considered we did pretty well,” You laughed and lent in to press a gentle kiss to his lips, he hesitated slightly before leaning in and brushing his lips against yours with a gentle smile.
“So what do we do now dear?” He laughed staring at the mess on the table
“Leave it for tomorrow,” you chuckled, screwing your eyes shut thinking about the amount of work it would be between you “I’m tired.”
And with that you both retreated to bed for the night to collapse into another dream filled sleep. Or maybe you would wake up in reality. Maybe it didn’t matter which way around it was. And as Amberpoint fell asleep, something ticked over. Maybe nothing sinister, but perhaps a quiet solumness filled the sleep-ridden air.
Wrench. 11th doctor.
Decided to scroll through my notes and found this gem of a prompt, how could I resist?

Prompt: "Is letting someone win at chess sapiosexual bottoming?" "Does anyone in this godforsaken group ever think before they speak?"
Enjoy- A.
A rare silence had fallen over the console room of the TARDIS.
After the last adventure, Amy and Rory decided to head to bed for awhile.
Which of course was fine, as you and the Doctor understood that humans needed much more rest than timelords.
They had gone to bed a few hours ago, but you and the Doctor remained under the console, working in the mess of wires together.
“Didn’t I tell you before that these needed to be cleaned up a bit!?” You groaned exasperated, as he fell from his sling of sorts after being shocked once again by two wires touching that definitely should not have touched.
He sighed, sitting up and looking towards you with a face of defeat.
His hair was sticking up all around, grease coated his face, and his goggles hung halfway off his head.
You let out a loud laugh before quickly turning away, trying desperately to choke down your laughter.
“Well I’m glad my pain is amusing to you.” He grumbled, standing and wiping his hands on his trousers.
“That’s enough for me today.” He said, taking off his goggles and throwing them across the room.
“You better pick those up.” You said, giving him a look.
He waved his hand in dismissal, “Eh, maybe later. I think i'll go check the TARDIS pantry for something to eat. I’m quite hungry.”
You nodded in understanding.
He offered you a hand, which you grabbed and stood from your seat. Taking your goggles off and stuffing them into your hammock of sorts.
“I think i'll take a shower, maybe pop down to the library.”
He nodded, his bright eyes shining as he smiled down at you.
You both turned, walking up the stairs to the doorway.
“Meet back here later?” He said, turning his head towards you, brown locks of hair falling across his elegant features.
You smiled, brushing them away and softly running your hand through his hair.
“Of course. You could always come join me in the library once you're finished.”
He grabbed your hand from his hair as you spoke, bringing your knuckles to his mouth, kissing them gently.
“Of course, anything for you."
You felt your face heat up involuntarily.
No matter how long you’d been with him, he always got you blushing like a school girl.
“Then, until later my love.” You leaned up, tenderly kissing his cheek before turning and walking down one of the many hallways to your room.
He stood for a moment, lost in thought with a dopey smile plastered across his face until you left his line of vision.
Before turning and heading the opposite way towards the kitchen.
Quite a few hours later, you found your eyes beginning to hurt from the strain of reading for so long.
You had a large stack of books set on the coffee table in-front of you, all ones you had read during that time.
You read a few more chapters before sitting up and stretching, feeling your back crack multiple times in varying places.
Sitting for a moment, you admired the fireplace before you.
The Tardis was kind enough to give you your own personalized section of the library.
A large brick fireplace, with small knick knacks from various planets lining the mantle, was set with two large loveseats.
A soft circular rug sat beneath them, one you loved to run your feet across when you were sat reading for hours on end.
On one side of the fireplace, was a beautiful alcove.
Large windows overlooking an artificial garden with rays of fabricated sun shining down were framed with light grey curtains.
Many days, if you felt you didn’t need to grasp for the warmth of the fire, you found yourself under a warm blanket, leaning against a soft pillow as you watched the simulated birds fly from one tree to the next.
As you sat, staring into the fire, you realized the doctor had never come to check on you.
‘He probably got distracted, or set the kitchen on fire.’ You thought to yourself, a blissful smile crossing your face at the mere thought of the man.
You figured you’d might as well finish the book you were reading, since you only had a chapter or two left.
Now, non-fiction books were definitely not your first choice, but after losing 7 games in a row to the Doctor you’d decided to do some reading on chess tactics.
After getting through a few more chapters, one of which depicted how to tell if someone was letting you win, a thought occurred to you. Which you just had to get an answer to.
Deciding to just head straight to the console room, assuming that Amy and Rory had probably woken up and decided they were ready for an adventure.
As you approached the doorway, you heard Amy and the Doctor’s muffled bickering.
“No! Not that one!”
“Well I don't know! You didn’t specify!”
You laughed quietly to yourself, she must be trying to help him repair something.
As you stood in the doorway, you saw Rory sitting in one of the flight chairs, watching Amy try to hand the Doctor something over the railing without dropping it on his head.
“Hey guys.” You spoke, announcing your presence as you descended down the stairs.
“Oh thank the stars your here! You can help your boyfriend now. He’s driving me insane.” Amy exclaimed, apparently forgetting she was holding a large wrench above the Doctors head. You heard a small clunk before hearing the doctor shout out in pain.
Amy turned towards you, eyes wide.
“Sorry.” She said quietly, sparing a glance down at the Doctor.
You walked towards the railing, looking down below.
“You okay?” You asked, looking down at the Doctor, who was now rubbing his head where you assumed the wrench had hit.
“Bloody brilliant.” He turned to look up at you, hand still holding his head.
You smiled down at the child of a man, who held a pout in distain.
He rubbed his head a moment more before turning back to his work.
“Let me just get this fixed, and we’ll be off. You know I heard of this planet where-“ He began his description, as per usual.
You straightened up and went to sit down on the floor beside the control panel, floors were always better to sit on.
You had decided that a long time ago after the whole, ‘bee fiasco.’ But that was a story for another time.
Amy, who now sat beside Rory on the flight chair, turned towards you.
“So, where’ve you been? You must’ve been doing something important if the Doctor would rather my help than interrupting you.”
You looked up from watching the Doctor through the clear flooring, a small smile on your face.
“Oh just reading in the library.”
She nodded wordlessly, before turning to observe the Doctor as-well.
Silence fell for a moment, before you spoke up, suddenly remembering your question.
“Do you think letting someone win at chess counts as sapiosexual bottoming?”
Amy turned to you, eyes wide, before Rory spoke up in exhaustion.
“Does anyone in this godforsaken group ever think before they speak?”
You laughed loudly before turning to see the Doctor walking up the stairs towards the console.
He headed over to you, looking down at you from where you sat, leaning against the console.
“What would make you ask that?” He asked, genuine curiosity in his voice.
“I don't know, I was reading a chess book so I could win a game-“ you spoke, as you stood up to lean against the console next to him, “-against you but in one of the chapters it spoke about letting you know if someone was allowing you to win a game, one thing led to another and well, got curious I suppose. Anyways- where are we off to today?”
You turned to look at the Doctor, an amused smile on his face.
“You were reading a book on chess, so you could beat me?” He asked smugly.
“Excuse me, are we just gonna ignore the fact that they just asked about sapiosexual bottoming???”
Doctor Who is about the human condition, it’s about silly outfits, it’s about the power ordinary people can wield, it’s about ridiculous haircuts, it’s about the abiding love for humanity, it’s about one alien weirdo and their jealous girlfriend of a time machine, it’s about helping the most vulnerable, it’s about christmas-cracker-level puns, it’s about protecting the innocent, it’s about a butch Australian lesbian flirting with her alien scientist roommate, it’s about how good will always triumph over evil, it’s about two platonic besties passing their shared brain cell back and forth, it’s about kindness and the intrinsic power of hope, it’s about a sapphic alien making heart-eyes whenever her bestie talks about reversing the polarity-
