Húrin and eldritch Morgoth on Thangorodrim!

This is my first time designing the Valar for my eldritch AU, and the first to go was Morgoth loll I just couldn’t get this composition out of my head!

In my AU, the Valar have humanoid-based bodies, but with six arms and, er, wild masks. I’ve had Morgoth’s mask in my head for quite some time, but I wasn’t able to get close to my vision until now. It’s mostly based on the shadow beasts from LoZ: Twilight Princess. I initially imagined something like several face masks set together in a circle, but I think it’s cooler to have his be faceless, and maybe have vines/twisting thingies come out of the centre circle like tongues, all grabby-grabby XDD

While I’m at it, my idea for Grond was that it’d be made of this black rock with red veins travelling through it, so it gives it a bloody lava feel XDD  Also, Morgoth’s hands were burnt black by the Silmarils in the book, but I changed it to white so it’d be easier to see them.

dark fantasy sub-genre is typified by a deliberately ominous tone, reinforcing what is commonly perceived as a “gloomy” atmosphere. standard features of fantasy are deliberately intertwined with a sense of terror and dread to create this sinister subcategory of fantasy.

Elves that probably would have been better options than Legolas in the Fellowship

(Please do add to this with your own ideas) Glorfindel Pros -No issues with the Balrog- it may not have even attacked, fleeing before his glorious hair and Balrog-slaying reputation. -Came back from the dead, so the quest appearing to be a suicide mission wouldn’t bother him. -Not a prince so no chance of kingdoms collapsing or something in the wake of his death. -Able to read quenya and say mellon, avoiding potential death by tentacle monster. -Better knowledge of the land and a sense of direction. Cons -May take the ring/ Frodo and abandon the fellowship to protect them. -Small chance of him running off and trying to kill Sauron himself. Maglor Pros -Redemption arc where his isn’t going to be viewed as an abusive asshole. -Definitely not going to have issues with the Moria gate, probably remembers the password from past journeys in any case. -If singing is still a valid way of taking on Sauron the whole thing would get a lot easier after they acquired the palantír. -Plenty of murderous rage to take out on orcs. -Elrond would get to see his dad again with people being proud of him. -Great knowledge of the land. Cons -The fellowship would probably be banned from Lothlórien. -Chance of him trying to take the ring, though given that he threw away a far more corrupting Silmaril, it likely wouldn’t be an issue. -Again problem of trying to do it all himself or running off to kill Sauron. -Probably going to get emotional at the Moria gate with the reminder of Celebrimbor and his old family sigil on it. -Can sad songs kill? His probably could. -Lore feuds with Gandalf?
