“ excuse me? ” his reply is too curt, too quick, and he wishes for a second that he would’ve added more intricacies, weaved complexities into his words. it’s not that banter is a concept he’s unfamiliar with, he just doesn’t know how to express his thoughts properly in such a casual setting, and marius’ taunting gaze doesn’t help with the trouble, either. regardless he’s not a pushover for the young adult to play with, and so he straightens his posture, flips through pages of a case with no more glances spared. “ and what exactly does a mere twenty - one year old know about romance? ”

The snark is hardly surprising, coming from a man who’s a lawyer. Though, coming from a man with a stoic expression and seemingly unattached to much of anything with the heart of stone is what’s surprising. Or his heart might be a machine. Or something along the lines of that he’s not human. But it’s not hard to tell that his edges have softened when a certain ex-idol walks into the room. Still, Artem Wing isn’t a man that’s usually quick when it comes to things that normal people take to.
❝Plenty,❞ he states with confidence and a smirk. ❝Definitely more than you.❞ It’s between cases, right now for Marius. He just wants to liven things up a little bit, considering all they do is Super Serious™️ cases that it’s no fun if they just stay in this sort of somberness. From the corner of eye, he can see Luke lifting a curious gaze between the two of them. It flits between mild curiousity and the slight loss of light in the other’s eyes. And Dr. Vyn Richter is seemingly uninterested in their banter. How normal of the doctor, Marius muses.
❝After all, all you have to do is woo them, sweep them off their feet, and that seems like it’d be hard for you,❞ Marius says as though it’s the most obvious thing in the world. But, to some, it’s questionable what that could mean. Still, every word Artem says generally bounces off of the youngest member of NXX, but he can’t help but want to poke at Artem’s interest in the girl that’s come into their lives.

Lidded gaze wanders the little party, pale blue eyes watching as he feels just every so slightly out of place. After all, he’s a wanderer by nature so he’s not entirely disinterested, but he’s also not quite used to the busy and almost meddlesome environment of a party at a place like this. Loud music pulses through the entire house, the house party only ramping up as red cups are in large abundance.
Plenty of women have already approached him as have a few men, each one proposing their own definition of what is fun and what isn’t. Still, the young man only makes an easy smile as he deflects each one of them. Even when his friends who took him appeared, promising something or other, Orion only arches a brow and points a cup in their direction. Though, he can tell from the look in their eyes, that they know he’s about to escape this place.

Somehow, it’s in moments like these that he finds himself thinking about his father, the disinterest tugging that it lingers close to boredom. In a way, he does miss his father for the continuous challenges he’s often posed before him; finally, a talent to match his father’s wits aside from his mother. The variety of drinks were alright, but, as per usual, he finds his alcohol tolerance too stupid high for him to really feel the effects.
So when someone comes to his side as he drinks and drains the cup, he makes an idle comment, expecting no response in return, especially when the game of beer pong is full of stupid shenanigans, ❝That’s a miss.❞ At this point, Orion has resigned himself to calling it like it is. And then, maybe, just maybe, he’ll dip out from this party and go do something else...
Maybe something else like exploring the city, for instance.

Annoying. Annoying, really, and yet, he can’t quite understand how and why this came out to be. In all honesty, this should’ve been something that he’s used to, figuring out the alternatives that would come about whenever he enters a Gate. It’s almost normal how easy it would be for them to enter a Gate and not know what would happen next. And somehow, Choi Jongin is, once again, surprised by the change of events that landed him in the middle of a snowy mountain.
Based on the terrain, the entire look of the landscaping, and for god’s sake, the creatures that are angry that he’s destroyed some of their terrain—no, based on the way they’ve arranged things—their campsite, they are a little less than happy.
Well, this is definitely not South Korea.
Still, even as their voice chitters in that way, he’s finding with a growing annoyance that he isn’t somewhere he’s supposed to be. There’s no longer a Gate for him to go through and there’s no longer a way back home. Tediously annoying frustrations piled on top of one another that Jongin is very, very eager to vent his irritation. With no way back home and this large but supposedly terrifying and intimidating creature that howls thinks it’s the right time as any to pick a fight?
They’ve thought wrong.

He pushes, adjusts, the glasses on his face that it gleams bright to hide his eyes. Heat curls and wraps itself around his arms as the heat coils and burns, erupting its inferno into the large creature when its arm raises, ready to smash down on top of him. More fire arrows appear, forming in the air next to him as he continues to pelt it with its flaming arrows. He continues until he sees that its fallen to the ground with a resounding boom and he disperses what remains of the fire.
He sighs, pulling out a cigarette, needing one to relieve his relative stress to the situation. He lights it with his fire magic and then, he hears a voice that he turns his head to a young woman garbed in gear he’s never seen before. As the smoke leaves his lungs and his red cape billows in the wind with his hair, Jongin flicks another gaze over her, musing that she looks European. And then it takes him another moment longer to realize that he can understand what she’s saying.
Hm, curious. Where did the Gate spit him out? Hell, can he even get home when there isn’t a Gate? Why is he even here?
❝Thanks,❞ he says, pulling a charming smile as he takes the cigarette to his lips for another inhale. He blows out another puff of smoke before continuing to answer her question. Though, he has a few questions of his own. ❝I guess you could say that—can you tell me what’s the name of this mountain? Where am I, exactly?❞ The words that come out of his mouth sounds Korean, the words she’s speaking, sounds Korean, but he idly wonders if it’s because of some kind of magic or power that’s enabling him to understand.
Annoying. Truly. So tedious and he can’t help but worry about what’s going on back home.

─「エウルア」─ there was a report of someone spotting a meteor landing somewhere close to DRAGONSPINE. the explosive impact causing tremors upon the snowy mountain and shook the ground itself. while there weren’t many who would dare to trek up the harsh landscape of the ISOLATED MOUNTAIN itself, all the worries and concern being expressed to the knights of favonius eventually had the ACTING GRAND MASTER unable to leave the issue alone.
as the captain of the reconnaissance company as well as her familiarity of the terrain, the LAWRENCE HEIR took it upon herself to investigate. the altitude of the snow mountain which proved to make people dread coming up here was something she was already used to, having conducted various trainings upon the snow-covered area itself.
the DISTANT sound of commotion could be heard when she got close to one of the clearings, a flash of scarlet catching her attention. one hand upon the hilt of her claymore, the knight sneaked closer carefully, just as the ROAR of something tore through the air.
FROSTARM LAWACHURL fell in a loud thump to the ground, and stood there unscathed with flames dancing upon his fingertips was a tall frame of a male stranger. his attire spoke of a NOBLE upbringing, but with symbols she had never seen before. CRIMSON STRANDS whipped through the cols breeze and his stance spoke of an experienced fighter. so, a meteor happened to be a PERSON ? how intriguing.

“ quite an impressive work. ” was her way of ANNOUNCING her own presence. her dual-colored hues took a quick scan of him, mainly, searching for his vision to determine what region or city he came from, only to find none on his person. “ we don’t usually have anyone capable of coming this high up the mountain by themselves. are you lost, by any chance ? ”

so sleepy, so tired. I really wanna do drafts. DX

─「エウルア」─ though he admitted of having been lost, his composure was something the KNIGHT CAPTAIN had to make note mentally. she could tell a seasoned fighter apart from those amateur ones, and this one certainly had his fair share of time upon the battlefield if the way he single-handedly took down the frostarm lawachurl without so much as a single scratch didn’t tell of that already. and while his attire might offer a bit of a blend-in with the REGION, his features didn’t seem like he had come from anywhere near mondstadt, not even liyue or inazuma.
“ you’re in dragonspine, the resting place of the shadow dragon durin. ” while the locals would’ve taken that as her way of explaining just how DANGEROUS the very area was, she had a feeling that this stranger before her wouldn’t know much given how he didn’t have a single clue where he was. being lost is one thing, but to not even know what this area was called and he had been this high up ?
coupled with the RUMORS of a meteor, the story started to be a bit more familiar. a stranger who could wield the elemental power without a VISION.

“ you’re in teyvat. ” finally, the name of this very world was uttered towards the stranger, someone whom she highly suspected to be another OUTLANDER. “ i hope it’s not too bold to assume that you’re not of this world, correct ? for those who could control the power of element in this world must be gifted with a vision, like this one. ” gloved hand pressed over the cryo vision over the left side of her chest. “ you don’t seem to have one on your person, yet, you were wielding those flames like it was a part of you. ”
she took a small pause, letting the words sink in. judging from his expression, he seemed to want answers, so the KNIGHT was trying to see how much she could give him to start him off with.
“ where are my manners — let me introduce myself, then you can ask me anything you wish to know. ” her head lowered in a slight bow. “ my name is eula lawrence, captain of the reconnaissance company with the knights of favonius. the knights in question are responsible for protecting the people of mondstadt, the very region you’re standing upon right now. ” was that too much information all in one go ? hopefully not. he appeared to be someone who could process things quite a bit, judging from how COMPOSED he was despite finding himself in a completely familiar territory.
“ i’d be more than willing to answer any of your questions, however, might i propose us descending down from the mountain ? it’s quite dangerous here. ” she slung her claymore behind her back, gesturing for him to follow. “ and may i ask your name, outlander ? ”

Her words and the location she speaks of is nothing to the Hunter, means nothing, and tells him nothing, only that he really, truly, is no longer in South Korea. He clenches his jaw in irritation and finds smoke emanating off of his fingers in his annoyance. He takes another long drag of his cigarette, probably one of the last few he’ll have if this world doesn’t have the nicotine he desires.
But this is extremely... Ah, his stress levels could not be high enough and the nicotine is helping. He relaxes and exhales the smoke as he continues to listen to her explain and state where it is that they are. Still, she’s being kind in explaining things to him as though there have been others before him that’s crash landed here. The likelihood that they are from the same world, same home world as his own seems nigh impossible. If Jongin is here and that there’s been another who’s also come here from another world, then it doesn’t rule out the idea that there’s more than just their two worlds. Being realistic and pragmatic about this instead of panicking, after all, is what made him what he is today at what was once the top of his Guild.
Ah, his guild.
Jongin makes for a light shrug, unable to properly think of a response to explain why is it exactly that he’s able to wield the flames as easily as he does. He awoke one day to his home being invaded with portals, Gates, and found himself able to wield such an intense fire power of a fire mage. No explanation, no reason why, just simply as so.

He lifts a hand to his mouth with the cigarette, turning his gaze to the woman with a look before taking a much smaller drag this go and then exhaling the plume of smoke. Polite, mannerly, and very knightly. Which is aptly fitting for the title she gives him, unsurprising now as he takes in the information she provides. Hm, he supposes this outcome isn’t too terrible, all things considered, especially since she’s so willing to provide him with the information he desires. Initial annoyance now slowly fading, Jongin uses a thumb to scratch at his head, finding that there’s no other alternative than to learn and adapt to the change. He can stress about the other things later.
❝Nice to meet you, Eula,❞ he says, dropping his arm down to his side while the hand that doesn’t have the cigarette is tucked into the pocket of his clothes. He faintly arches a brow as he turns to her, idly agreeing that this place isn’t quite the place for a formal meeting or information gathering. If all else, going to the city she’s from might be more informative than staying here. ( And more productive, but he digresses. )
And then he lifts a hand, gesturing for her to go on ahead of him and he’d follow suit. ❝Then please, by all means, lead the way, Miss Eula.❞ Strange, he muses as thinks of how he’s able to converse with her. There’s no “language” barrier to speak of so he wonders what is the extent of this world to allow him the knowledge and abilities of being able to understand. In some ways, this is fascinating. Especially since he can see she wields a claymore despite her stature with ease, something quite different from the people back in his world.
Ah, what he doesn’t like is to be called by an obvious nickname like that. Hm.
❝Jongin,❞ he replies, noting specifically how this world seems to operate on a first name’s first with family name second, if his world is any indication of how the English and the Americans do it. ❝Jongin Choi.❞ He takes another quick drag of his cigarette before putting it out, stowing the rest of the cigarette back into a small metal looking-like case and then putting it away into inner pocket of his jacket.
He heads over to her, falling in-line behind her as he looks around the scenery. Snowy mountains, a distant place he doesn’t recognize. The howl of the cold wind doesn’t bother him, warmed by his innate fire that he finds himself wondering how it is back home. No, idle thoughts for tonight, right now, he needs to get himself to a city and find out where he is. Teyvat? Mondstadt? Words he finds unfamiliar, and yet, already knowing full well that this is true to the world he’s in.
The snow crunches beneath his feet as he follows after the knight, the howl of the wind sometimes carrying away his voice when he thinks of a question he could ask. But right now, he’s absorbing the fact that he’s truly here, in a place not South Korea, not home. Thoughts ring through his mind as he contemplates how he’d be able to get home, if he can even go home. From what he can tell from just his sensory perception is that there’s nothing here quite like the mana of a Gate. Even the woman in front of him has something similar to that of mana, but it’s not quite the same.
It’s only when they reach the bottom of the mountain that he finally speaks up.
❝Miss Eula, have there been others like me? You speak to me as if this is a normal occurrence.❞ Which is strange to consider. What kind of world is he in that allows the frequent visitor from another world? Strange.
I think this will become a blog primarily for my OCs and then all other muses that are of "canon" origin will be by per friend request only. Mostly because I want to focus more on writing and developing characters and story. While I do have personal head canons regarding specific canon characters, I think I'll just let them show that through threads as I am prone to do anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sleepy brain is making everything like mush today, I will be pecking on my drafts and starters. Ya'll should get a massive dump of writing soon. Haha, a queue does not exist here on this blog.
