The stands were filled with Inarizaki students –marching band, orchestra, and cheerleading team included– making their cheers reverberate all over the gym.

The thrill in the atmosphere was almost palpable.

Atsumu’s eyes raked the over the stands, choosing to ignore the squealing group of fangirls, and just focusing on the most familiar faces. Until something caught his attention.

It so happened that Suna was just walking by, the setter instantly gripping his shoulder and forcing him to stand next to him.

“Damn Suna, check it, that girl in the cheerleading team is hot.”

Suna followed Atsumu’s stare, his eyes landing on you.

i just imagine yoongi all sprawled out on his throne because he doesn’t give a hecK about professionalism and good posture and when his advisor tells him that the new commander of the royal army is coming to meet him he’s just like okay fine bring him in whatever let’s get this over with

so imagine his suRPRISE when the doors swing open to reveal a young woman dressed in heavy-duty armour from head to toe and yoongi’s sitting there like?? when did the maids switch up their uniforms?? wearing that cannoT be comfortable when they’re doing the laundry!!! and as she’s making her way towards him he hears the heavy clink of her sword tapping against her side with every step that she takes and yoongi becomes more and more intrigued because the closer she gets… the cuter she gets…

“your majesty - commander y/l/n, at your service.” advisor kim introduces you before gesturing to you

you draw your sword swiftly before dropping to one knee and using it to keep you balanced

the last thing you want is to topple over in front of the king

“your majesty.” you clear your throat

your grip tightens around the handle of your sword as king min gets up from his throne

this is actually the first time you’ve seen him so close

you’ve heard plenty of people talk about how handsome the young king is and you have to say…

he’s actually not half bad

but he looks like he knows he’s not half bad which automatically makes him awful 

“you’re a woman.” he states plainly

a smirk twitches at the corner of your mouth

“that i am. it appears that nothing gets past you, your majesty.” you respond dryly as you resist the urge to roll your eyes

if you had a dollar for every time someone was shocked to discover that the new commander of the royal army was - gasp - someone of the female gender… you’d honestly probably be richer than king min himself

“hm.” king min scoffs lightly as he makes his way down the steps towards you, “someone’s got a smart mouth.”

“thank you.”

he pauses on the steps, “that wasn’t a compliment.”

you immediately look up at him and the two of you lock gazes

“i didn’t take it as one.”

(the voice in the back of your head reminds you that you’re not supposed to look at him until you get the permission to do so)

you lower your gaze once more when you spot one of the guards inching towards you

“how could someone like you possibly be qualified to lead my army?” you clench your jaw as he stands before you and you keep your eyes glued to his shoes

you feel like if you look up at him again someone might actually slice your head off

“how could someone like you possibly be qualified to lead my country?” you respond smoothly

almost immediately you spot the ends of two spears point at you and you let out a snort of amusement

“what? am i not allowed to joke around here?” you look up again and king min raises his hand subtly

the guards pull the spears away and you fight back the urge to spit out another sarcastic remark

you get the feeling those kinds of jokes aren’t appreciated around here

“you may rise.” 

you rise from the ground but keep your sword pointed to the floor

“what’s your name, commander y/l/n?” king min asks as he holds his arms behind his back

“…commander y/l/n will do, your majesty.” your eyes flicker to the long scar running down from his brow the middle of his right cheek

it’s a pretty gnarly looking scar, in your opinion

you wonder how he got it... 

“your name, commander.” advisor kim raises his voice as he stands a couple feet away from king min

okay

fine

obviously commander y/l/n won’t do, your majesty

“y/n. y/n y/l/n.”

“y/n…” king min repeats to himself as he takes a moment to look over your features

there’s a fire behind your eyes and he can tell by the way you’re obviously not intimidated by him that the two of you might not get along

which really isn’t great on your end because one snap of his fingers and he can have you executed

he’s looking forward to seeing how long you’re going to last working under him

“haven’t you ever been taught that staring is rude, your majesty?”

oh yeah

he’s definitely looking forward to getting to know you.

Something They Don’t Know

Prompt: In which Daveed Diggs is asked how he comes up with his lyrics during an interview. Told in his POV.

A/N: Day 5 of the write-a-thon. Of course I would post this early when all I’ve been complaining about is not having enough time to write. Oh well. Also, I’m sure Nadeska Alexis is a cool girl, I just needed her to behave this certain way to get the story going. Enjoy!

Daveed slips his phone into his pocket and stood to give Nadeska Alexis a handshake once she enters the dressing room, Lin’s advice on how to handle the tricky reporter reverberating in his mind. Having done the Complex interview with Chance previously, he warned him about her ruthlessness and her inclination to pry for scandalous information she could share with her readers. Lin told Daveed to be polite, courteous, and above all, smile through the “little white lies” he would have to tell.

“Mr. Diggs, it’s unfortunate that the rest of the crew couldn’t make it,” she says, turning on her recorder and sliding it on the table that separated them, “but I’m glad you were able to come in despite the late notice.”

Daveed lets out a nervous chuckle when she ignores his gesture, his hand still awkwardly hovering between the two of them, and opts to bring out her notebook and pen from her purse instead. He was never the best with interviews, especially when he was by himself, dressed in clothes he couldn’t afford and sitting in a room that was too sophisticated for his tastes. He wished William and Jonathan were here – they understood his ineptness when it came to talking to new people and would definitely take over the interview. But since they couldn’t, he had to man up and promote the new album releasing in a week.

Nadeska sits, and Daveed follows suit, watching as she flips to a page full of questions that she’s prepared. Luckily, the first few questions were predictable –  how he adjusted to life after Hamilton, his role in Blackish, the release of the album, and the upcoming tour -  all he could answer easily and truthfully. But when she suddenly leans forward, a gleam in her eyes that screamed trouble, Daveed knew it was time to make use of Lin’s advice: smile through the little white lies. 

“So, clipping doesn’t exactly have the most innocent songs,” Nadeska hums, choosing her words carefully, “and some of them require a repeat listen. Your lyrics are curt but very complex, Mr. Diggs.  Mind if I throw a few lines at you to elaborate on? And if you could perhaps share what, or who,inspired you to write them?”
