Linus’s disillusionment with Sonja is the best part of episode 6. Edvin’s portrayal of his realization that she truly is a murderer and is the cause of his pain and torture is gut-wrenching.

I believe he sees her as a monster, after what Vera tells him. He doesn’t want to maybe, but he’s seen and gone through too much to ignore what’s in front of him. Because what kind of mother does that to her child? And if she did that to Nina, what’s stopping her from doing it to him? Isn’t that what’s happening right now? He’s captive and chained up and bleeding because Sonja made Vera angry enough to seek this kind of revenge.

That’s the anger and betrayal, and this is the hurt. Everyone around him kept letting him down, and he just wanted and needed someone to rely on. That person should have been his mother; it was for most of his childhood.

She was supposed to be safe, as his parent, but she wasn’t. Her way of keeping him “safe” was convoluted and ineffectual and only caused him and others around him harm.

In the scene below, you can see that he didn’t assume Vera was lying about what she whispered in the beginning— he believed her. He knew it was something Sonja would do. And that. Is my whole rambling point here. She tried so hard to protect her family when all they needed to be safe from was her.
