A’Aru, the Field of Reeds

In the Egyptian afterlife, A’Aru represents an idyllic afterlife for those with clear conscience.

They continue to live on as they did on Earth, without the risk of pain or loss as they carry on under the presence of Gods.

Everything they have loved or lost in life is returned here.

Six-ish Sentence Sunday? Monday? Who cares!

Tagged by the wonderful @aeide! Here’s a little more than six sentences for the last chapter of my fic There is No Escape…, which was supposed to be done two months ago and also yesterday and yet continues not to be done because I keep getting distracted, most recently by my crack fic and this sketch I started last night of Kassandra, Barnabas, and Herodotos in a group hug 🤷‍♀️

As Kassandra predicts, Coronacht is much too big for Phoibe. Varatha and Aegis too, and Zagreus slings the latter onto his back once it is determined not to be a good fit for Phoibe. She manages to land five hits on Skelly with the Twin Fists of Malphon before she suddenly topples over, the gloves not too big for her but definitely heavy enough that she struggles to keep her balance while moving. Stygius isn’t too large for her to wield either, but she’s not overly skilled with a sword. Then he hands her Exagryph and it is immediately apparent that this is the weapon for her. The Adamant Rail begins to shift the moment it is placed in her hands, the Gryphon wings decorating the sides shrinking and furling outwards, the stylized beak and head melting to resemble something more like Ikaros. When she pulls the trigger, the bolts of energy that come forth are a brilliant purple and fire out in short bursts of three before there is a brief pause and a click before another burst of bolts. And when she presses the bullet on the side, the missile that shoots out fires straight ahead and not up, sending Skelly back flying into one of his statues. Phoibe’s eyes are wide and her grin is even wider as she reloads, “I want this one.”

As always, tagging whoever wants to do this! And if you want me to actually start tagging you, let me know! It’s just a lot of the people I would tag are usually already tagged or not on tumblr that much 😂

Also, bc I really love it so far, here is my sketch for the drawing of my favorite boat dads and their demigod daughter that is currently keeping me from finishing this fic ❤️

ACverse thoughts of the day: historians if the Assassin-Templar War was common knowledge

literally the most boring topic of study, you show up with a thesis around them, and your teachers roll their eyes so hard they can see their own brains;

"Please, this is a serious institution, do reconsider your topic of study to something more... engaging."

nobody takes them seriously, because primary sources are so bountiful, it's almost embarrassing;

the most intriguing study about the war is the overall lack of splinter factions and infighting;

there are furious debates and speculation on what surely were related factions being assimilated into larger non-related factions, and how the Assassin-Templar dichotomy spread;

many historians look into the records left by both orders to fill in the gaps in their own research;

Abstergo has research fund grants that many try to apply for, and it helps them keep their fingers in any papers being published to tuck away any compromising information;

Abstego being related to the Templars and their very fucked up deeds is fairly well-known, but nobody can do anything about it. think Shell and ExxonMobil bullshit;

some whistleblowers crop up now and again but after the initial outage, not much comes of it. maybe a scapegoat or two get arrested but that's that;

there are conspiracy theorists who think the Assassin-Templar conflict is a hoax, everybody hates them;

historians adore the assassins because 1. they are terrible gossips and 2. they FUCK, and they write a lot, so it's free insider knowledge
