you left your kitten at your boyfriend’s house, fully aware of what you’ve just committed to.

he, bf!riki, absolutely ADORED cats.

the moment you walk into your lover’s house to hand him your kitten, he’s going googoo gaga over it. grabby hands and all? he even baby talks it with the most lovable eyes you’ve ever seen.

you were unable to look after it due to work, and riki was..unfortunately, your only option. after all, you didn’t wanna break his heart.

but the only problem was that..

well,

your kitten hated him.

it wasn’t the affectional type, and would constantly hiss at anyone who approached it, repeated meows and countless scratches marking their skin. it was? quite stubborn, actually.

but out of every person who attempted to pet it, riki was the most hated one.

your kitten was practically crying for help the moment you abandoned it with this; —so called, evil monster, and you wished you could say sorry. as soon as you leave the house, riki’s already diving into the animal for cuddles, leaving the poor kitten to fight its way out of his arms.

your kitten disliked him for his overly affectionate love, and was most likely gonna risk it all. it really thought it was gonna die between his warmth.

and honestly? you were worried.

riki already knew how much of a feisty kitten it was, but didn’t hold himself back from properly taking it into his arms to hold, fingers painted with claw marks.

it was clear to you riki loved your kitten the most, and you had no clue why. animals loved him, but you always found your boyfriend begging to see your kitten whenever possible,

only to have himself get abused right over again.

but why does he only attach himself to yours?

now you were approaching the entrance to your door after finally finishing up work, pulling up to your driveway only to find the living room lights off.

it had you pause for a second, but continued to exit the vehicle to reach for your door knob, hesitantly turning it with guilt.

god I hope they’re doing okay.

you pondered under your breath, carefully and cautiously beganning to creak the door open, only to poke your head in to search for the two.

and as soon as you do, your eyes had instantly landed on the couch, spotting an afar figure curled up beside it’s arm rest.

his recognizable sleeping position makes you assume it’s your boyfriend, but what really distracts you is the animal in his lap.

riki, your lover, and your kitten, who you dropped off just a few hours ago,

were cuddling on the couch.

the kitten was curled into a ball as it laid it’s head tucked into his chest, sleeping soundly as it’s delicate body remained cradled in his arms.

your boyfriend, on the other hand, had majority of his face covered with bruises, but was comfortably resting against the cushion.

and you, who has your jaw dropped, almost blow away your cover the moment your merely dropping your bags, eyes filled with shock.

riki? and your kitten?

sleeping?? together??

your kitten has never allowed you to hold it in your arms, and now that you’ve finally saw it give in, you never thought it would be riki,

your fucking boyfriend.

even you found the feeling of jealously sprouting in your chest, an expression full of awe lingering on your lips.

and as you examined the two, what even shocked you the most was the obvious common feature they both had.

they both were smiling.

and it was the first time you’ve ever seen your kitten smile like that.

MARCH WAS A STRANGE MONTH. 

It was too quiet, serene. The usual chaos that dwindled around was absent - stagnant even. Along with the silence brought a sinking feeling in your stomach, the type that could tell when something horrible was to come, but how would you know? 

You vaguely remember the last time you felt your heart drop to your stomach. It was the summer of 2017, the occasion? Meeting Park Sunghoon for the first time.

Strings of little arguments engulfed the two of you that would unknowingly last until the present, a whole 4 years later. You don’t make an effort to try and make amends, not when he’d continuously humiliate you during class by challenging your answers and bickering your ears off that paying attention to your professor would take twice the amount of effort it should have.

And you’ve tried to cut ties, desperately ignoring him and shutting him out so you don’t have to deal with the bullshit that Park Sunghoon brings, but he makes it so damn near impossible. Every time you duck your head down to avoid his stare, he’d be just as quick to yell out your name and wrap an arm around your shoulder. Every time you asked to switch seats, he’d suddenly be seated beside you the next day. And fuck, you dread asking Sim Jaeyun any help on a project (that by the way, you have together) because it would mean having to talk to Sunghoon too. 

A parasitic relationship, you think. Him being the parasite that leeches off of the host (which happens to be the current role you’re playing, and fuck, you badly wanted to trade roles with someone else and be their understudy instead). It’s the only way you can describe what you have going on - he was hardly a friend, and yet you wouldn’t consider him a stranger either. All you know is he is causing harm to your usually peaceful life.
