WELL GUYS, here's an introduction methinks. Characters and who/what their roles are!

Sean: He's like Ford, in a way. He makes a deal with Bill, anything to be the greatest, right? So, he agrees to make a deal in exchange for a portal. Sean then asks Shadow for help (he's an engineer in this au). I mean, freshly graduated from college and he's already making big plans! Surely the world will reward him with something great.

Shadow: Sean's old roommate. Doesn't really like making/inventing stuff, but Sean did promise to pay him great and he needs the money (he is very poor). Anyway, some incident happened (no portal incident like Fidds. Im still thinking what) and he tricked Sean into making a memory gun. He didn't tell Sean its purpose, just lies to him and all that, but he uses it to himself to get out of embarrassing situations or to forget his hallucinations (they are real).

Robert: Childhood best friend of Sean's, basically like family to him. Sean cut off ties with him after high school and then years later (after Shadow quit), he got a letter and went to Sean. Got into a fight with him, nothing too physical, and they accidentally activated the "unfinished" portal and it pulled Sean, who was close, in. Robert tried to reactivate it and it didn't work. He then tried for more months, or years, and eventually made himself a home and a scam shop in Sean's house.

Kim: He worked for Robert because he looked lonely. And he doesn't mind whatever he does. They got really comfortable with each other that all Kim does is annoy him. Anyway, Kim then knew about the portal and offered to help Robert in rebuilding it.

Journals? More like stacks of blueprints and crazed notes from Sean, talking about a triangle.

--thinking of making Ryan and Kiply to take the mystery twins' roles. they moved to the place and found out that Robert was hiring and it looked easy enough and fun so they signed up. Kiply absolutely scams the shit out of people and Ryan studies the binded notes from Sean, discovering supernatural stuff.

ANYWAY, will probably change some stuff.... dunno.

since there didn't seem to be a sign of another ultratober list, i tried making a list of my own, to share and practice around with everyone! remembering last years' list being based off characters and enemies, i thought it'd be interesting to have a more narrative (?) list this time, loosely forming some sort of timeline and a rough theme pattern

Day 5: Food

This one's very rushed, sorry, lol. Hope the sibling havers can relate to this one

Not to be a killjoy (though it is what I do best) but the unsafe and rough handling of a baby Pygmy hippo in a pretty substandard Thai zoo being meme-ed into something funny and cute really shows just how much groupthink plays into public perception of animal welfare.

Moo Deng shows avoidance, threat displays and stress around her keepers that are constantly man-handling her, blasting her with a hose and harassing her. The enclosure is mostly concrete, which is horrible for her soft feet. There looks to be some substrate but there doesn’t seem to be any areas for wallowing or deep water wading.

There’s also very easy access of this hippo to the public with no places to hide. I’d love if someone could shed more light on the enclosures but from what I’ve seen it’s not great.

Also the free contact and forcing into tubs that the keepers do is only going to create an avoidant and potentially aggressive and dangerous Pygmy hippo.

But the public happily overlook that because she’s cute. It’s a similar attitude with seals too.

Stop rewarding bad husbandry with clout. Baby animals deserve agency and respect and to grow up without getting harassed and feeling the need to defend themselves constantly.
