Hope this reblog doesn't turn into an argument in case it's taken the worng way. I used amino alot (mostly to rp with my good friend on there) and I post a lot of art. I hardly (if i ever, since i can't recall any at the moment) seen art theft on the aminos I'm in. It mostly depends on the rules and what type of people are the ones in charge.

There is a report button. It could be the 'Flag for review' button, which I think I the same, never had to use it before. But to fully report you have to go onto the person's profile. The only problem with that is, as you said, you will have to make an account if you don't already have one to report it. But you don't have to stay in the amino afterwards if you wish, or you could stay in and use it to post your art before anyone else has the chance. You don't need to say anything if you don't want too, as long as you have at least one proof picture, you should be good.

The amino's I'm in (or at least used the most) are strick about art theft. I think a big problem is the aminos who make people Verified Artist. I have a feeling some people wait until they get "Verified Artist" mark then since (at least in the batim) they no longer have to show proof unless requested or in a challenge they think it's ok to repost art.

Luckily the amino's mods are strict like i said before. If they caught a "Verified Artist" doing art theft, they're strip of the title and get a strike (or a warning) which if it's there third one, gets them banned. And even if it doesn't get them banned, if it's only there frist or second strike, one of the punishment is not being able to post, so it should stop them for commiting art theft, at least on that amnio, and may teach them a lesson.

They even hide people who is other people's artworks for the amino profile picture without credit. Even if they don't try and claim it as there own. My sister found this out the hard way when I forgot to warn her when she join the amino and used a picture of a dragon she saved on her phone as her profile pic and she got hidden (kinda my falut). She switch it to one she did do but last i checked (which was Awhile ago) she's still hidden.

Also the watermark, whlie I do agree is annoying and seems like it's claiming the art, it's important to note it's just telling where It came form. If it removed the person signature (if they had one) form the art, THEN it would be a promble and the amnio trying to claim it as it's own, but it doesn't. Here's something I commission form an artist that was sent to me in private chat once finsihed.

If they sighature wasn't there, yeah, it would look like art theft. It mostly depends if the person has a watermark/sighature and if it's noticable enough.

I'm not here trying to paise that amino's mods or arguing your claim, and I'm deeply sorry for what happened to your friend and any other artists that had this hapoen to them. And I will admit, Amino In general does have it's flaws. When I come to separate aminos, it mostly depends on if the leader and mods are they type of people to be jerks to artist and let people get away with it, or if there the type of people to make it clear It's not allow and will do everything in there power to pervent it. I personally love amino and it's ok for you or anyone with a simaler experience to hate it, I'm just showing a different side so everyone who sees this know it's not as bad.

Amino vs Art Theft.

Truth be told, at this point I absolutely hate Amino and no one can change my mind.

There’s so much art theft on the app, and no one is trying to do something against it. There is no “report” button, there is no “DMCA” request. You can only ask the MODs or ADMs to remove the art, but sometimes they will refuse to remove it, or even start being aggressive, throwing tons of stupid excuses for their acts. And you’re forced to download the app and make an account to request them to take down your art.

That being said - even the ADMs and MODs are supporting art theft. 

For example, my friend asked an ADM from SU BR Amino to take down a post because they CROPPED their watermark, the ADM refused to take it down and said that they would make a new post crediting the art. (And they blamed Pinterest users for cropping the watermark - which as a lie).

My friend explained that reposting art without permission is a crime (and in fact, it is) and they said that they weren’t stealing (because no one claimed the art as their own) so it wouldn’t be considered a crime.

My friend told the ADM that artists disliked Amino because art theft as something common, and then, the ADM told their friends about it - and the same people stalked my friend and started to victim-blaming and saying bad things about my friend, like “you are disgusting”. 

After joining the artists community on Tumblr, I’ve meet some artists that share similar stories, and ALL of them have the same dislike for Amino that i have.

For short, if you are a creator, and ask them to take down your art or edit, or they’ll ignore you, or being completely arrogant and disrespectful.

Now stop a minute and think about it with me - 

An Amino blog with more than 100,000 users (where most of the users are minors) learning to support art theft, while both ADMs and MODs are being immature and doing nothing about it. 

Art theft is a big issue on the internet already, and the kids are not learning to respect the artists - they are learning the opposite.

Kids are idolizing the MODs and the ADMs, and not the content creators. 

So what do you think will happen in the future?

Not to mention this damn watermark: 

Re-watermarking an artwork? This should be ilegal.

Now, seriously:

- Don’t roleplay as others characters.

- Don’t re-name, trace or steal others characters.

- Don’t repost art when the artist has clearly said they don’t want that.

I’m not saying that ALL Aminos are like that. But only few Aminos are absolutely against art theft and have guidelines about it.
