Can you provide any advice to making a muse list for a beginner? Like, what;'s the best ways to make one and all that? I've seen people use google docs, but would that be a good thing to use? I hope this makes sense,

of course !! i've made many muse bios / muse lists, so I can share with you what I do, what I use, and what I've seen.

the very first thing that I do when I'm wanting to make a muse list / muse bio is I look for a template to use as an outline for my muse(s). usually, I just go to google and I type in "basic character sheet" and you'll get tons of options that you can pick from. even the ones labeled as "basic" are pretty detailed and I usually only use certain parts of the template.

( an example of a character sheet is usually:

name: age: birthday: gender: etc:                                                                          . )

i think just going through and filling out a small character sheet for your muse(s) is a great way for a beginner to start to get the gist of it all. that part is usually the bulk of what you'll need to do.

after that, you'll have to decide how you want to put up your lists/bios. for me, I have mine on my muses' blog pages - which i edit through the html, which is a whole different thing on it’s own. so if you're not comfortable with dealing with html codes or you’re not comfortable with too much editing, I would think that using google docs would be perfect for you !!

on google docs, you'd be able to make a template ( or find a template ) that you like, and you can construct your list - add and edit as you go. And all you would have to do is link your google docs somewhere on your blog where people will be able to find it. Most people usually link it in a post and pin that post so that it is always the first thing that is seen on their blog.

i know it's probably a lot of information being thrown at you, and I'm sorry if it sounds intimidating, but I promise that it's not !! you just have to find what is comfortable for you, look at other people's muse lists as examples. being a beginner in RP can seem daunting, but the rpc has lots of nice people that may be able to share a tip or two.

i hope this helps !!

PSA PSA PSA!!!

As the years progress on Tumblr, I often hope that things will turn around in the RPC with its outlook on female muses. Unfortunately, I find myself disappointed - even now. Does no one realize that solely refusing to write with or interact with a muse based on their gender is discrimination?

The definition of discrimination: a - prejudiced or prejudicial outlook, action, or treatment. b - the act, practice, or an instance of discriminating categorically rather than individually. ( according to Merriam-Webster )

This is where you judge a group of people or things solely based on an individual experience. People preach against discrimination on so many issues on here, whether that be sexuality, race, etc. But when it comes to something fictional as RPing, there are a number of people that throw this out of the window, and they literally see no wrong in it. Yes - there are people who write female muses who are tacky, and who will be rude, and who won’t follow rules. But this doesn’t fall on the female muse. This falls on the kind of person and individual that mun is.

Incidents like that isn’t located to just one group of people. Some muns of male muses are the same way. The only difference is that when it comes to male muses, the event is usually just individualized and male muses, as a whole, do not garner the blame for it. Because it’s not EVERY male muse fault. Why can’t people recognize that with female muses? It’s because of subconscious and internalized misogyny.

The predominant base of RPers on this website are female. Yet there are many who will refuse to write or interact with someone, because their muse is FEMALE. Can yall repeat that prior sentence? Now, repeat it again. Don’t you see how foolish that sounds?

Oh, but don’t let me talk about how femininity is vilified in females. But when gay males express their femininity – which is stolen from women, and more specifically, BLACK women - in the RPC, its seen as cutesy and “uwu”. The feminine traits of women are accepted when it comes from a gay male. But people rather remain blind to that.

TL;DR: Female muses deserve better. They are treated like bottom-of-the-barrel trash while their male counterparts are praised for doing the same things. Discrimination and misogyny is alive and well in the RPC, and as a community, we should do better because know better.

General PSA because I've been talking to a lot of people who just don't have energy right now.

Listen. This is your reminder.

It's okay if you take days, or weeks, or even months to answer something.

It's okay if you simply do not have motivation to answer something and delete it.

It's okay if you want to pause everything and start from scratch if that's what will help you.

This is a hobby, not a job. There will be no rush to answer things. There is no rush to have your blog fully set up. There is no need to make your blog what you think people want to see. Your blog is your safe area. Your blog is your space to create things. Will you like everything you create? No. But, someone out there will, and you'll never get better without practice.

Need to go MIA for personal reasons? Do it.

Need to stay ooc for a bit while your brain rewires itself? Go for it.

Write your muses how you feel they fit. Write the muses that make you happy. Write what makes you happy and write with who you enjoy.

Don't burn yourself out with pressure of what your blog is or isn't. Don't burn yourself out with your muse not being good enough or what people will think of your portrayal. There is a block button. There is an unfollow button. They can use those if they don't like it on your blog.

Please. Each one of you is important. Please take care of yourself, and take time to yourself. Stay hydrated, eat (even if just a snack like a handful of crackers or something), and please treat yourself as a priority.
