Hanahaki.  A disease centered around the toxic effects of flowers that bloom in the human body due to love; more specifically assumed unrequited love.  There are two ways in which the human populous can suffer from Hanahaki: if the person is, or over, the age of 18 and they have experienced true, real love.  

Having a high-school crush, or having a phase of just ‘puppy love’ isn’t what the mind considered true love.  There was no way in describing what true love was, all a person knew was when they started hacking up petals, they were in love with someone and they always knew who.  Whether they liked it or not.
