Okay this is basically a random rant but I was on X and I saw a 2hwang (SHIPPING. NOT SIBLINGS 2HWANG) post that was…very weird and I won’t get into it but I think ppl (especially non-Koreans) don’t understand this layer of weirdness that comes with shipping people of the same last name???

Granted it’s weird regardless but in Korea there’s very much the sentiment (haven’t visited in a while so this may have changed. There was a law that ended back in the 90s that prohibited marriage between two people of the same surname but idk how taboo it is now) of avoiding dating/marrying a person with the same last name as you because there’s a possibility that you might actually be related to one another (especially the less common names, there’s so many people with the last name 김 (Kim) and 이 (Lee) that you’re pretty much safe) soooo even though the possibility might be low I (as a half-Korean) have never grown out of the taboo 😅 and it’s just very weird seeing ppl ship 2hwang or 2shin in a romantic way (FOR ME. pls don’t come for me you can ship whoever you want)

Like, as siblings or friends I think it’s totally okay to ship them but romantically I personally could never
