AUTHOR'S NOTES: i love him u guys don't understand
“Why’re you handing me a canvas?” you ask Rafayel, accepting the canvas hesitantly. “You know I can’t draw or paint.”
“Just this once! Paint anything you want.” Rafayel pleads, giving you the puppy eyes. “Please? I want to keep a painting made by you.”
“You’re the painter here in this relationship, Rafa,” you say. “Why would you want my painting?” Rafayel pouts, turning away. You sigh, knowing he’s not going to speak with you if you don’t agree to his request. “Okay. I’ll try drawing something.”
You grab one of Rafayel’s pencils from his studio and start sketching. Even just five minutes after you start sketching you can tell that this painting will be awful. You don’t have a consistent image in mind so you just let your mind draw for you, but it looks messy. Rafayel tries to get a peek once in a while but you immediately run away once he gets close to you.
“Are you done?” Rafayel asks after thirty minutes. “Come on, let me see!”
“No! I’m not done yet!” you keep a tight grip on your canvas. But Rafayel catches you off guard by pinching your sides, making you yelp and let go of the canvas. He immediately grabs the canvas and runs off, making you chase after him. “Hey! Come back! I’m not finished!”
Rafayel turns the canvas, taking a look at the sketch you have drawn. “Woah…” The sketch you have drawn is just a simple portrait of you and him standing side-by-side. You couldn’t think of anything else to draw, which is why this simple drawing is the one you have chosen. Rafayel could only look at the drawing in awe.
“I know it’s not the best but-”
“I love it.” Rafayel cuts you off immediately. “Are you secretly an artist? Look at the strokes you made! It’s amazing, love.” he pulls you into his arms, wrapping an arm around your waist. “I love it, truly.”
“Really?” you mumbled, embarrassed. “But can’t you see how messy the drawing is? I don’t think any other artist would say the same.”
“Then don’t listen to them.” Rafayel kisses your temple. “This is going to be put in my bedroom.” he smiles as he looks back at the painting. “Should be in an art museum, actually.”
“Now you’re exaggerating, Rafa.” you smile at the way he’s attempting to make you feel good about your painting (which he actually succeeds in doing so). “Thank you for liking my painting.”
“I love everything you make,” Rafayel says. “Especially your bacon and eggs this morning.” he winks, basically hinting at you to make it again tomorrow morning.
