Ah Yes I Remember The Good Ole Days Of Starting To Write - Tumblr Posts

Aww, happy birthday to your brother! I loved reading/reading about his writing journey, because it reminds me of my own. While I wrote my own stories in elementary school with prompts given by the writing teacher, I didn’t actually start writing my own stories until I was about 12. I feel like that’s kind of around the age you know you’re going to be a writer, like something just clicks and everything flows out. It’s so magical.

I’m so happy for him, and it sounds like he totally has it down for his age. I can tell you I was not writing book series then lol. And I love Avatar, so I’m also dying to read his story. The titles sound so interesting by themselves! Keep up the good work. 😊

My little brother (10 yo) isn’t usually a “Fan” of anything - like he watches tv all the time but he’s never super invested in the story or characters and he rarely reads voluntarily. Mostly he hangs out around his jock of an older brother (15) who pokes fun at the fandom and writerly shenanigans of my marvel-obsessed sister (17) and I, the resedent Nerd and Author who “Care Too Much” about fantasy worlds.

But recently we’ve all been watching Avatar the Last Airbender as a family and my little brother is hooked - to the point that he’s created his own self-insert roleplay in his head that he will excitedly ramble about to anyone who will listen (usually me lol). Over time, I’ve learned to rant about my writing and fandom and such online so as not to annoy my family but he hasn’t quite grasped that yet and unfortunetly finds himself on the recieving ends of people shutting him down and calling his ideas dumb.

Today I handed him a notebook and pen and asked him to write it all down so I could read it when he’s done.

I’m enabling my 10 year old brother to write me fanfic and I couldn’t be more excited.
