❥❥ Author’s Note: Hi friends :) I’m finally back with another chapter of Set Me Free. This chapter is a pretty special one to me because in some ways it’s the turning point of this series. Although it’s a pretty light chapter, it has a lot of significance behind it. As mentioned before, the inspiration behind this series is the 9th track of D-2, which is titled “Interlude: Set Me Free”. Just like the 9th track, this 9th chapter focuses a lot on this theme. Additionally, some of the inspiration for this comes from one of my favourite novels, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I hope you enjoy and as always, please please please let me know what you think. As silly as it sounds, it keeps me motivated to write more. Thank you for the support!

Under the right conditions, it’s able to thrive, breaking free from its chrysalis, transforming into something wonderful. But restrict it, and life for the creature becomes all too suffocating.

Each intake of air felt inadequate, fighting to fill your lungs, failing to permeate throughout your bloodstream. Never enough to truly feel alive.

This was a feeling you knew all too well. Perched upon this precarious pedestal since birth, everything around you hung in a delicate balance. Under these circumstances, the difference between survival and suffocation often became a nightmarish blur.

But you would have chosen this nightmare any day over your own unfortunate reality.

While the rest of Seoul’s elite were butterflies bound to their glass houses, you sat cast aside, entirely on your own.

You were a butterfly in a bell jar.
