And Became Even Better - Tumblr Posts
no PLEASE keep talking about Reo, like genuinely it seems like most people have given up on him.
Especially on Reddit where I see so many people straight up make a different character in their head to blame for Nagi’s downfall. Yes he does have flaws, 1) but why is that a bad thing? Does it not show that he’s a well written and developed character?
2) AND AT LEAST TALK ABOUT HIS ACTUAL FLAWS, it isn’t his fault for doing what Nagi asked of him!
he had his own drive to work to achieve something, especially in the light novel or literally just the manga, you can see how much effort and devotion he puts into hard work and how he’s genuinely amazing at football. He doesn’t have any weaknesses because he works hard at ALL his specs, his copy is built around understanding the mechanics of other’s weapons- literally just watching once allowed him to copy Niou and stop Shidou’s shot. And he can use it interchangeably and that combined with his FIQ! He isn’t being carried by Nagi! He needs to tap into his own ego and dream- Nagi can be a dear and cherished friend without being the centre of his existence.
sorry for ranting again, just yeah you GET him and I’m happy about that. I love that you speak positively about him whilst also understanding the situation. This is a series about egoism so I can understand how power of friendship Reo is going to be punished by the narrative but damn the fans also tear him down too.
I agree with you completely!
I think Reo is frequently misunderstood by like, everyone in the fandom.
He's a flawed character and that's why I like him so much!
I'm so tired of "IsaGoAT" Yoichi over here, being perfect and having no emotional weaknesses.
Reo's emotional sensitivity, his implied bipolar disorder, his need to prove himself, but also to latch onto someone else because he doesn't value himself, probably due to always being overshadowed by his own role as the heir to the Mikage Corporation... I mean come on, he's GREAT.
I LOVE him.
And more than anything, I think he deserves to be the one who snaps Nagi out of his funk!
He needs to be the one who walks away.
Nagi should be forced to learn what he taught Reo, inadvertently, during the Second Selection.
He should also be the one who chases after Reo.
I desperately need Reo to "redeem" himself to this dumbass fandom.
If he was the one who walked away, and became even better, as Nagi declined, I think people would respect him more.
And frankly, that's just good storytelling too.
It's not right for Reo to keep crawling after Nagi. Him trying to improve himself was a great direction for his character. Him going back to Nagi is only good if he's the one to leave next time.
And I really want that for him too.
I think he deserves to be wanted and needed by someone else.
I also think he deserves to stand alone, and become a great striker in his own right!
