And Have Been All 'let Them Be Horribly Toxic And Avoidant (tmr/lv) Or Codependent (bellatrix)' - Tumblr Posts

A brief take on Bellamort criticism I've seen this month.

"I would have liked Bellamort if their relationship was healthier."

My, my, where do I begin? Bellamort is a ship featuring two darkest and most dangerous wizards of their time. See, there's a merciless man obsessed with his immortality, incapable of love but having a strange, inexplicable connection to his sadistic lieutenant, who's ready to do anything for him. How on Earth can their dynamics be normal? And why do you want such authentic characters with such a nuanced relationship to be like everyone else?

"Promoting Bellamort means promoting unhealthy relationships."

If you aren't mature enough to distinguish fiction from real life, Bellamort isn't the one to blame. I, personally, have been into this ship for 12-13 years and I've successfully avoided abusive relationships; plus, I'm very supportive of victims of those. I just happen to like ONE specific canonical(!) relationship between two villains from a fantasy book (yes, the one with flying brooms and talking spiders), where both parties are totally okay with their dynamics.

"But if you say you support victims of toxic relationships, how can you not wish a better life for Bellatrix?"

As I said, Bellatrix was absolutely happy with who she was and what she had. Her values, traits, skills, background - everything in her life led her to Voldemort. Ask her to go and live a normal life without Azkaban, murders, and tortures, but also without her Lord, and she'll punch you in da face. Plus, if you support feminism, you must give women a choice, and Bella would've willingly chosen Voldemort any day.
