“You’re literally perfect.”

Jimin whispers to the baby in his arms, the truth apparent even under the dim lighting of the floor lamp in the hospital suite.

“Our little Haru,” he coos, scrunching his nose to resist the urge to bite her plump cheeks. Instead he runs his thumb to her tiny ear all the way to the folds of her chunky neck, adjusting her diaper while at it.

She’s just so pretty. It’s obviously too early to tell her features because she’s literally just gotten out of the womb merely hours ago, but Jimin doesn’t doubt for a second that she looks just like you.

Haru looks every bit of your beauty; every single bit of your kindness and grace.

“Do you know that your Aunt Soomin’s hounding me into seeing you? I had to turn my phone off,” he chuckles, meagerly nodding when Haru’s eyes train on him as if she understood instantly. “You have so much waiting for you at home, baby. Everyone rooted to have you in this world, y’know? Everyone loves you.”

Despite being hours old, Haru already looks like she’s the epitome of yours and Jimin’s world combined. She’s everything that he could ever ask for and there’s nothing else he could ever want — not now when he’s officially a father; not now when he’s cradling his daughter to his chest, only a few feet away from his wife’s sleeping figure.

Haru suddenly cries as it effectively snaps Jimin out of his wholesome, teary realization. He instantly attempts to calm her down, standing up from his chair.

“Ah, ah! You’re waking up your mommy.”

“Chest, please.”

Jimin turns his gaze to you who’s already jolted awake, the power nap you rightfully intended to take after giving birth being cut short. It’s only been hours and the two of you already have codes, “chest, please” meaning that Haru needed to be breastfed immediately.

He grins, pulling up a chair to comply.

A snort escapes you when you feel a head that’s too heavy for a newborn placed on your chest, a situation that needed a finger flick to the forehead before giggling.

“I meant our daughter on my chest, Jimin, not you.”

“Yikes,” he laughs, peeling himself off before carefully placing Haru on your chest, elevating your bed so the two of you would be more comfortable. “She’s here, she’s here. Here you go, mommy.”

“Is the mommy nickname going to stick?” your head tilts in curiosity, squinting as you recollect. “You kept calling me wifey for a straight month after we got married.”

“Sue me for being in love with you,” he rolls his eyes with no real malice to it, smiling to himself at the reminder of your wedding two years ago.

He rounds off everything in his mind, running through a mental checklist in his mind now that you’re awake. “Ice? Fast food? My mom’s cooking? Anything else you need?”

Everything feels too surreal — who would’ve known? Your husband and your daughter in the same room; three heartbeats beating under the same love.

“Nah,” you shake your head, a watery smile manifesting as soon as you see the same realization in Jimin’s face. “I have everything I need.”
