Headcanon #1: Sakanade lovingly tends to the flora and fauna in Shinji’s mindscape. A true child of the Earth, of Spring, of new beginnings. After Aizen’s initial betrayal and the exile of the Vizards, Sakanade no longer permitted the flowers of the Gotei 13 to grow in the Garden.
