I'll contribute with an excerpt from a short story I wrote exploring VH and Tora's dynamic as a QPR

Twenty minutes later, having finished four chapters, Tora let her eyes drift back to Vaytch, still in her lap. Over time, their soft snoring had shrank to almost nothing. Strange. Grabbing their hand, she used their fingers to mark her place. Bending over uncomfortably, careful not to disturb them, she fixed her gaze on their chest, waiting for it to rise. Nothing. Her breath caught, panicked thoughts filling her.

And of course, it's angsty

Here are a few lines from JYTFS, part of Yahgur's introduction chapter:

The wind carried the scent of flowers, fresh-cut grass, a hint of farm animals... and screams.

“That’s none of your business,” Yahgur told himself. “Just walk by, just walk by, just walk-” a child’s voice. Still somewhat cheerful but already bewildered, trying to explain something. It drowned in laughter. A bad kind of laughter.
