27: a kiss in greeting

Over the years of their relationship casual affection has become easier between Neil and Andrew. But it’s not something Neil will ever, or has ever, taken for granted.

And he’s sure it’s something he’ll never fully get used to either. Having someone love him so casually and so deeply will probably always be shocking on some level.

The first time Andrew was so truly casual with his affection towards Neil is a memory Neil holds close to his heart.

It was Andrew’s final year at Palmetto and Neil was attempting to study for a midterm. He’s hunched over his desk, exhaustedly working away at different math problems.

Andrew returns to the dorm after his final class and Neil is thrilled to have an out from his studying. Andrew walks past his desk on the way to the bedroom and his only acknowledgement of Neil is a quick kiss on the corner of his mouth.

It’s so quick that Neil has to do a double take to make sure it even happens. He watches Andrew retreating form walking down the hallway in a bit of disbelief. A smile spreads across his lips a moment later when his brain fully processes the last few seconds.

Andrew reappears from the room less than a minute later and his brows pinch together slightly when he sees Neil’s smile.
