A pinpoint, precise, stellar sense of direction.

This was what you usually prided yourself on, and yet… here you were. Out in the wilderness, well past the territory you’d explored so well and thoroughly that you knew it like the back of your hand. You prided yourself on your sense of direction, your preparation, your organisation… and here you were.

Lost, somewhat unorganised and wholly unprepared.

This wasn’t something that happened often, of course. You were good at what you did. The technology used had left the land almost uninhabitable, and it was a miracle the humans you’d descended from had even managed to survive the fallout. A long time had passed since then — centuries? You’d have to check with your mother, if you saw her again anytime soon— and the earth had healed as best as it could. You had to hold a certain respect for the land, the earth; nature had a miraculous way of adapting, overcoming, evolving.
