♡ / / / it's late, and you've nearly fallen asleep waiting for them. you can't help it, curled up in the chair like that. it's so soft, it's warm and comfortable, it reminds you of them, so much that you had all but forgotten what you were even waiting awake for.
you don't register the sound of the door creaking open, nor the footsteps that approach. you barely hear the soft, low chuckle as they look down at you, or the arms that wrap around you. their voice soothes you to sleep, so so easily, not that you were really fighting the exhaustion anyways.
you doze back off, and when you wake again, you're tucked into bed, or were at one point -- the blankets are wrapped haphazardly around you both, clearly the handiwork of someone who didn't want to leave your touch long enough to care, and you don't remember if you walked, or maybe they managed to carry you, but either way their arms are still around your waist, their face buried into your neck. you move your head just enough to glance down at them, your hand covering where their own holds you to them. you feel them smile against your skin, and they sigh. the gentle tap of their fingers against your thigh lulls you back into slumber, one where you dream of them, and you swear that just as you're about to fall back into dreams you hear their voice, gentle and distant.
