I am planning to eventually go into detail on each season eventually especially the oni saga, but for now, to me the idea of a "ruined Garmadon " isn't fully litteral it's more " wow the writers litterly took everything that is likable about this likable character for cheap conflict"
It's also the fact they keep fiddling between "this is Garmadon " and "he's not technically our Garmadon "
Like he seems to possess memories and or feelings of what he was. Which was never explains and kinda contradicts the fact he isn't spouse to be him.
Also characters in show seems to forget that Garmadon wasn't all evil or bad, especially after he got purified. The show for some reason loves to victim blame him.
I feel like they shouldn't have used Garmadon, to me it feels like a cheap way for catching nostalgic fans especially because the oni saga is clearly nostalgia bate.
It also kinda makes Lloyd's agration towards him fall flat, like he's mad about this new garm but he still treats him like his dad and from my pov. I get that he might be angry because he's devastated to lose his dad and has to deal with the evil essence version of him but if that was the case the show should've said that. He just comes of as a pissy boy because of that and unreasonable in crystallized because he seems mad that Garmadon genuinely wants to be better.
My last point of annoyance is that this shift in his character writing is due to the movie, the movie wanted a himbo stupid oblivious irresponsible dad figure which is fine and most of the time I would love but not for Garamadon.
Garmadon is a complex victim of the narrative with alot of love in his poised mind and it feels insulting to chug all that for " Ahyuk I got no son!" Basic flat new garm.
Ofcorse this is all my interpretation and I could be wrong or others have a different pov.
Honestly, I don't really understand when people say "The Oni Trilogy ruined Garmadon's character by removing literally everything likeable about him" like. yeah. that is the point??? Mystake said, in s8, that if Garmadon is resurrected, he'll be NOTHING like he used to be, and he'll only be all the darkness.
The season clearly says him and classic Garmadon aren't the same, because Resurrected Garmadon is meant to be a shell of what Garmadon once was. His "wit" and "sense of humor" don't exist because he's literally meant to just be a dark conqueror and destroyer.
If anyone could PLEASE explain why they feel that way (preferably in a nice and respectable manner maybe idk) and think Resurrected Garmadon is a bad character for not matching a version hes not meant to, Id love to hear it !!! /gen
