american... my parents (mom specifically) started encouraging light drinking at home once i hit 15
its... complicated on whether its normal
on the one hand its half expected to the point my band teacher would give out his number for students that didn't call home
on the other it was a very hush-hush/behind closed doors/ not my house not my problem type area of USA
but i did walk home drunk once and my parents couldn't tell i was drunk so i never got in trouble for it
