Okay so like I just watched The Neverending Story again for the first time in like 10+ years because I was feeling really stressed and a little dysphoric and I needed something to distract myself. LOOK AT THOSE MFS IN THE BACK. LIKE WHAT ARE THEY. WHAT ARE THE DISEMBODIED RUSHMORE HEADS. I WANNA KNOW THEIR STORY. BUT THEY DONT EVEN SPEAK THEYRE JUST SET DRESSING. LIKE ARE THEY ROYALTY OF THE ROCK BITERS??? WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE THAT???? I WANNA KNOW MORE I WANNA SEE MORE OF THESE FUNKY GUYS!!!!

Honestly the 80s was such a different time because like look at how much fucking effort went into BACKGROUND SET DRESSING for this movie. If this movie were made today, this entire image would be like 99% CGI. But that's all THERE it's REAL and PHYSICAL there are ACTUAL GIANT STONE-LOOKING HEADS ON THAT SET LIKE HOW CAN YOU ACT. HOW CAN YOU PERFORM WITH THOSE THINGS OVER THERE.

the neverending story i have read the book multiple times across the years and i can only say i think this was a creative choice by the film makers but it totally fits the book's vision
