I’m kinda sick of people mischarateisintg Vil?
look-I get it. Trying to killed Neige was BAD of him. You can’t justify killing an innocent person
but what I’m saying is that Vil’s trauma is invalidated constantly in the Twst fandom. Vil is practically the “gifted child.” He’s perfect. He’s smart. He constantly achieves. I’m sure a few of us can relate to that. But being the gifted child sucks. ‘Your constantly putting yourself on a pedastal to achieve the best, good grades, etc-and for Vil’s case, to finally be number one. And that’s quite frankly, unhealthy.
Vil constantly compares himself to Neige. He constantly looks for validation. He strives to be perfect so others can like him.
Vil has trauma. He’s been bullied since he was a child for being played as a villain. He overheard people saying that he was to perfect that nobody got him.
It honestly upsets me when people say that they least care about Vil’s Overblot. I get it-not many people relate to being a famous actor. But it’s not about that.
Vil’s Overblot was literally all about comparing himself to others, and finally realizing that he isn’t perfect.

mini analysis on vil's concept of beauty and how it affects his treatment of other characters (specifically, why leona grates on him)
in a nutshell, vil is all about effort. he respects people who try, even if their goals don't align with his own. this is shown most clearly in his p.e. uniform vignette
where he explains why he gets along with jack even though their physical goals differ, but it's also in several other voicelines
for vil, being naturally beautiful isn't enough. he'll readily compliment leona's looks and lilia's skin + grades, but he's quick to follow it up with criticism on how they don't put in effort
it's also shown in his initial reaction to neige's performance (and his original impression of neige before he learned more about his backstory)
with vil, coasting by on natural talent means nothing. characters like leona and epel irritate him because he believes they're wasting their potential. he'll acknowledge their inherent charm and beauty, but it means nothing if they 'rest on their laurels' and 'coast on their natural talent'. this is also why he gets along with jack so well; jack pursues his goals to the fullest which vil finds admirable, even though his goals aren't particularly appearance-focused. leona especially is apathetic and reluctant to put effort towards self-improvement. in leona's eyes, it's useless because he'll always be second-best to his brother. in vil's eyes, leona is a slacker. it's specifically because leona has so much potential that vil dislikes him. vil thinks he's squandering it by refusing to try.
the recent resurgence in episode 6 talk has led me to reminiscing about Rook's absolutely buckwild backstory. man tries on a nice jacket exactly once and immediately re-evaluates his entire life.
(this has actually been sitting around for a few days because I keep second-guessing it, so uhhh sorry if it's weird! I can't tell anymore!)

Very irritating that ppl are hating on Vil for "ruining" Rook even though it was made clear in Chapter 6 (I think?) that Rook was not looking after himself and didn't see the beauty in himself (which is not good for self esteem). Yeah, Savanaclaw Rook is pretty, but current Rook is healthier and much happier with himself. And, like others have said, he CHOSE Pomefiore. Vil did not force ANYTHING on him.
Ya'll treat Vil like a mean girl with harmful beauty standards that he blindly follows but you because think Savanaclaw Rook who was, again, not looking after himself or his health, is prettier than current Rook you want him to "stay that way"??? Do you not see the irony???
