Summary: Jungkook is your next-door neighbour, friend, batchmate and well.....soulmate. You never told him that though. Why? Because he despises the idea of soulmates.

You were eighteen when the mark appeared on the right side of your hip. A star.

Some call it 'the soulmate mark', some call it 'the forever mark', some call it 'the love mark', there are various names for it.

You never called it anything in particular, though. When you became familiar with the concept of soulmates and the mark, you just thought all of these names stand true and are applicable, hence couldn't choose just one.

You see, the mark, that you're talking about, helps you identify your soulmate. What was somewhat astonishing to you was the fact that this mark is unique to each pair of soulmates. You remember thinking that it was impossible. There are seven billion people in the world which means 3.5 billion unique marks. However, you gave up on that calculation when you learned that these marks are never recycled.

There is no fixed age for when this mark will appear. It's always in black ink and can be often mistaken as a tattoo. Some are born with it but in most cases, it appears out of nowhere. The mark can appear anywhere on your body. From a wave right under the eye to a butterfly behind the ear, you have seen it all.

The various types of marks used to make you very curious as to what yours will look like. Your wondering mind would often lead you to more questions. When the mark will appear? Will the area of the mark burn? If it does, would it be a nice burn or an annoying intolerable kind of burn?

Your younger self just couldn't wait for the mark to show up. So, when the five-point star appeared on your skin, you were elated.

With the mark appearing, the previous questions were answered. There was no burn whatsoever, it appeared just like that, you didn't feel a single thing.

But that didn't get you rid of questions because soon after that, brand new questions started popping up in your mind.

What happens now? Who is your soulmate? When and how will you meet your soulmate? What is he like? Does he have the same preferences as you or is he completely different?

You didn't have to wait long to find the answers.

You were walking through the gate of your university when you spotted Jungkook a few metres away from you. He was laughing with his head thrown back and that's when you spotted the exact same star on his collarbone.

Not to be dramatic but it felt like the entire world stopped spinning.

Jungkook is your soulmate.

You stood there like a statue for some time wondering how you should mention to him that you have the same mark, but your thoughts couldn't go any far because another realisation clicked into place.

Jungkook doesn't want a soulmate.

Sister Cecilia Honeycutt pulls her long blonde hair into a loose bun at the nape of her neck before pinning her veil in place, sighing at her reflection in the mirror. She never thought she would be back at the Ministry, but she didn’t know where else to turn.

As she tucks the fine light hairs on her forehead underneath the band of her veil, she catches a glimpse of her eyes in the mirror and sniffles. She feels petulant. It has been a little more than a year, but the circumstances that lead her to this moment still stung.

The faux-sympathetic look in her boss’s - the congresswoman’s - eyes as she explained that the office did sympathize with her predicament, but her prior religious affiliation was too controversial. Poll numbers were down after the story broke, the congresswoman’s reelection was now in jeopardy, and the people of the district couldn’t afford to lose their champion in Congress. She was sorry that their long working relationship had to end with Cecilia’s resignation. As if Cecilia was given a choice. As if Cecilia was given a chance to explain that she didn’t even know what she believed and had long-grappled with her faith, or lack thereof.
