I finished reading Carmilla. How TF did it get away with being this gay in 1872?
Like, the girl TEXTUALLY declared her love and attraction to Laura and they didn't censure it? Bc if they did, and the published book is the toned down version, then it wasn't very effective

ok ok ok but how about… hollstein naps. They take turns curling around each other but Carmilla likes being the little spoon. Maybe their fingers tangle together on warm bellies and noses press against the sides of necks. Maybe they slot their legs together in small spaces or maybe their sides are just barely touching. Maybe heads are resting on chests and arms are slung across backs, a thumb gently rubbing the soft fabric of a t-shirt. There are grumpy “no”s when the other has to get up and gentle forehead kisses when they leave and when they return. Hollstein naps.
